Paul Davis Restoration of East Michigan

The Paul Davis team got started on my flooded basement on a Sunday. They checked with me during each decision to remove damaged materials and inspected the drying progress regularly. Adjustments were made to make sure all walls and cabinetry were dried. I was very satisfied with the thorough follow-up and the end result is a dry basement.

As part of an insurance claim, Paul Davis removed damaged floors/baseboard and did a full pack out and storage of 3 bedrooms, an office, two bathrooms, all storage closets and a hallway.  They also brought back room contents and reset most items in the house (some I preferred to do myself because I was rearranging some iems).

All in all, I was very pleased with the work.  The staff was amazingly personable, respectful, and kind.  One gentleman offered to hold a large desk top so I could clean it before reinstalling it!

My reasons for not giving a five star rating are not all their fault but I will point out a few items:

I had been displaced from my home 7 years ago for water damage somewhat similar to this claim.
—The pack out from their competitors’ included cleaning all items before returning.  The items were not cleaned this time, which was a bit disappointing.

—Prior to pack out, I had purchased a brand new King size mattress that we had not sleep on  prior to removal because I didn’t have the bed frame yet.  Unfortunately, it was returned with lumps in the pillow top, probably due to it being either leaned on its side during transport, and/or during storage.  This is one thing I still have an issue with, as it has not yet smoothed out and is unsightly, even with the linens and bedspread in place.

—As the baseboard molding was removed, it was done in such a manner that some of the walls had tears in the drywall.   The remnants of the baseboard were left in the bedroom (although they had done a wonderful job packaging up the laminate floors for removal.  My finish contractor had to move kit to do the floors.  However, when I asked that it be removed during the contents reinstall, the team did it with no problem!

So, with that said, I will 100% recommend the PaulDavis company in particular because of their face to face interaction.  Noah, Amanda, Alexis, and a few others whose names I didn’t catch are a credit to their company.  Their thoroughness on 98% of the overall job was top north h.  Just make sure if you have a king sized pillow top coiled hybrid mattress you request that it be stored and transferred flat!

While on vacation our upstairs toilet failed ..leaking into our first floor… within hours of finding it our insurance had Paul Davis Restoration cleaning up. Fast forward three weeks later they are finished .. with tons of fans on day and night, tearing out walls, floors and ceilings… also packing up our entire first floor into storage ! They were patient, knowledgeable, kind and understanding ! We worked with Noah and Amanda. We will see them again when all is finished ! Highly recommended😊

Paul Davis worked closely with our homeowners insurance to fix property damage (roof replacement, attic restoration, gutter repair, and a few more odd jobs) after a tree fell on our daughter's bedroom. The work was completed in a timely manner and our project manager Ryan Plevinski gave us regular updates on the process. This whole tree experience was traumatic for my family, but Ryan guided us through the repairs with patience for our many, many questions, genuine care for our well-being, attention to detail, and professionalism.

Paul Davis Restoration was a good company to work with when our basement flooded. They did a great job packing up and cleaning out the mess. It was very overwhelming when we discovered the flood but the team that came out to our house was kind, reassuring and professional. I feel confident in the work they did for us.

We had a water emergency at 9pm from a broken shower handle and could not stop the water. We just purchased our 1959 fixer upper and were not familiar with the water shut off under our crawlspace (there was no shutoff in the house) and we attempted to shut it off at the street but it was corroded and we did not have the proper tool. The water had made it out of the bathroom, through our master, and to the hallway. The first two restoration companies I contacted both said they sent someone out (neither showed up)but wanted to keep us on the phone to collect all of our insurance information. I was highly upset 2 hours later by the time I called Paul Davis. Christian was fabulous. He realized it was an emergency and said he needed to stop to get the tool from work but would be there within 30 minutes. He stopped the water immediately, brought a dehumidifier with him, and walked us through what needed to be done next. I don’t know what we would have done without him. For prompt, no nonsense service (especially an emergency) I would highly recommend Christian and Paul Davis.

I had some fire damage in the back part of my house.  It's going to be at least a $150K job. After lack of response from the first contractor, I moved to Paul E. Davis at the recommendation of the first contractor, Servall.  Darryl Wilson came over and measured the property and I shared my earlier experience with Servall. He said that Paul E Davis always did what they promised. After several of the "I'm about to submit the estimate", now I've got to start over again.  The permitting guy in Farragut was nice enough to call me and tell me he had never seen the information submitted by Darryl and said he must not understand what to submit.  That's when i knew i was in trouble with getting this project going.

Terrible and unprofessional. Looking at the positive reviews it appears they do smaller jobs for fire, water, and smoke damage unlike the bigger job that I have. This is a warning to others DO NOT contact them if you have anything bigger than $25K. I just wish they had just told me upfront this was beyond their capabilities as the first contractor finally owned up to.

I I highly recommend Paul Davis Restoration! I had a request for emergency service to place a tarp on my roof after a tree fell on my home. Owner Josh Skeens called immediately and came out to oversee the damage and had his crew place a tarp right away. Stopping further damage from the roof leak. Very grateful for his leadership and service.

I was really impressed with Christian and his team at Paul Davis. I found them to be really responsive and easy to work with. They also got us cleaned up and dried out without any hassle. They are courteous and dependable, which goes a long way these days.

This is the second time this year that Paul Davis has come to my rescue. Josh and his team are excellent in all categories. They were quick to my aide and treated me like I was their most important customer. These guys are extremely courteous and professional in every way. When going through a crisis, that is a huge relief. I highly recommend Paul Davis to restore your home back to normal and even better!

Cooper just completed a job for us through Ace Handyman Services and we had an awesome experience!! He was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and efficient, and the job turned out perfect! I have used Ace Handyman Service before, and the service was exceptional.  I requested the same craftsman (Cooper) and thank goodness he was still available.  His craftsmanship and customer service skills are superb!  The ticketing process to request service was extremely fast, and the quote was very reasonable compared to Lowe's. They even accommodated my project with an apprentice instead of two craftsmen to help save on the cost of my fence project.  I had originally signed a contract with Lowe's, and they took well over 3 months to tell me the quote was $600 more than expected.  I passed and went with Ace instead.

I highly recommend Ace Handyman Services and endorse Cooper as highly skilled.  Outstanding job!

Kyle is very experienced and knowledgable. He provided recommendations and explained all the details before proceeding with the work. He completed everything on time and made sure we were happy with the work. Involved areas were cleaned up as well. Trustworthy, organized and very professional.

Cooper repaired and power washed my wooden deck structure in the courtyard of my condo. He did a great job and I wouldn't hesitate to ask for him in the future. Not only was he most professional and competent, he was also very personable. He even had no problem working in the rain after providing coverage for his electrical unit. This is the second time I have called upon ACE Handyman Services in the past couple months and have so far been quite delighted with the service provided. Their staff seem to take great pride in addressing their client's needs.

Craftsmen Brett and Zak performed some minor adjustments to my deck and then completely stained entire deck. I am extremely satisfied with the finished results!

Bill and his crew were way beyond accommodating as we scheduled this treatment for three  of our Michigan facilities. He gave us an exceptional price and his service was beyond compare. Highly recommend.

Bill and Scott helped us during the power outages and storms that flooded our basement.  They were out immediately and were incredibly patient, honest, and helpful.  24 hours later our kitchen flooded and they were back out to our rescue!  We value honest and kind workers who also do a fantastic job - Bill and Scott were all of the above! I generally do not leave reviews for businesses but I was so impressed with my experience with Puroclean of Macomb, I just have to leave a review! I called to schedule an appointment for mold removal and he completed the job two hours later. Bill was extremely professional and pleasant. I would recommend them to anyone! Very reasonable pricing, as well.

I called PuroClean for what we thought was mold in our attic. Bill came out the same day, inspected the attic and found no evidence of mold. Instead of spraying the attic and charging me for the service I called for, he reassured me that I had nothing to worry about and only charged a small service fee. Great, honest company!

Some of the best people I've done business with, I highly recommend them! My house was a disaster after a frozen pipe incident. Frankie fit me in when no one else could (it was a bad winter around here) and started working right away. Other problems, which the previous owner of my house had covered up, were discovered during the renovation process, and they took care of all of it for me. The whole crew was so nice, trustworthy, and reliable. Real people, not salespeople. And the price I paid for everything was very fair. I'm extremely happy with the work they did on my house, albeit a little sad they won't be back around.

We returned from a four day family event to a waterfall in the kitchen,  saturated upstairs carpets, and a pool of water in the bathroom. Not a good time for the Holidays. However, Ralph and his PuroClean team worked professionally and tirelessly to dry out my home. I found him to be trustworthy and will recommend him to family and friends.

Eric did a fantastic job, he saved on materials, cut back the estimated time, and was quick without sacrificing quality. I’m always hesitant to hire companies and prefer to just learn to do things myself after a few bad experiences in the past but I didn’t have time on this project.  Glad I called these guys and glad to have a company I can rely on in the future when I need it.

Larry did a great job repainting my fence that was in terrible condition. The fence was so bad the paint was peeling off.the fence was 30 feet long. He also repainted a portion of my front deck that was in the same horrible condition.

He was on time, kept at it, and was so friendly. Super guy and did a super job.

I know it’s only a fence, but every time I look at it, I get so excited and happy, happy, happy.

Carter hung 3 large heavy pictures and an iron framed full length mirror in my home. They are great and I am 100% pleased with the quality of his work. He also hung an American flag on the front of my home. I will use Ace again.

Larry was terrific, his was on time and from that moment forward he new exactly what needed to be done. He stayed focused on the job meaning he did not waste time and when he had completed the job I could not have been more pleased. Great guy, he’ll of a worker very professional and he knows his craft!

Eric was excellent. He cleaned out all of our rain gutters, repaired some places that needed new screws, and did so in a timely manor. Ace's rates were very reasonable and Eric was efficient and a good communicator.

The Glass Guru

Horrible experience.

Glass door was broken in August 2023. They came within a few days for estimate. They told us they would follow up. I never received any calls. I followed up with them multiple times on when glass would be in, they said they would call. I finally talked to someone on 10/16/23. They stated glass was in for a couple weeks and they forgot to call.  They set appointment for repair on 11/26 at 230p. Stated someone would call when on the way they did not call and showed up earlier. They were unable to repair and stated they needed two people to repair would be back on 11/2. He stated someone would call me to set time. No one called and one gentleman comes on 11/2 states they are just there to look at it (this would be the 3rd time someone has had eyes on the door) not repair he doesn't know when repair will be.

I will not be going forward with this repair. The lack of communication , lack of follow up and lack of knowledge of the techs to repair a glass door is unbelievable.

The Glass Guru did an amazing job with the replacement of my window.  They ordered my window and put it in less than 2 weeks. The team put in the window so quickly and they were so nice. Highly recommend.

I have used Glass Guru for over five years. They are price competitive, show up when they say they will and have always done a great job of replacing the glass in our windows. I would highly recommend the team at The Glass Guru.

Estimate for repairs was done quickly and accurately. It took a month to get the replacement window installed, which seemed a bit long but the work was done well . The installation crew was friendly, helpful and competent.

Glass Guru did an awesome job.  Their price was fair, they were quick to respond and do the work, and did an excellent job replacing the glass in several of our windows.

Great guys and great experience! Glass came sooner than expected and they did a fantastic job installing it!

They were great and explaining everything that needed to happen for my glass to be replaced. The agent took his time when he came to the house, gave me some pointers. It was an excellent experience. I didn't feel rushed at all.

I called a few glass companies and Glass Doctor was the only one that offered to come to the house for a quote. There were some hoops to jump through with the others just to secure a quote, and that deterred me immediately. When Josh from Glass Doctor arrived, he was professional, knowledgeable, and quick. We received a competitive quote a few days later and didn’t even have to think about going ahead with the order. Three weeks later I have two gorgeous new stunning glass enclosed showers! It was all installed within about two and a half hours, and we are very happy with the result. I would highly recommend Glass Doctor!!

Called for a quote for a glass panel on the short side of our 2 sided tub. Panel was to hold a shower rod that would go to tile on opposite side. The man they sent to quote wasn't informed our needs and I was dubious of his understanding of our needs or his ability to measure for them. He said he would have a quote in a week and it would be 2-4 weeks for the panel to be installed. Never heard from him again.  Meanwhile the other company I called for quote gave me a same day quote and had panel installed 6 days later.

He did a great job fixing my window. I recommend this company to anyone who needs a fixed window. Excellent job. Thank You Denise

The Restoration Doctor

Not enough words to describe how great The Restoration Doctor was!! We had a flood at our house on a Sunday afternoon and within 2 hours they had workers at our house.  They were so nice  and knowledgeable and walked us through the process with our Insurance Company making a daunting experience much easier. I would highly recommend them!!

I called and spoke with Mike regarding a need for reconstruction after an electrical fire. I wanted a estimate so that I can decide on what company to use. Mike kindly informed me that they do not do free estimates. I understand that it is time consuming to an extensive quote for repairs, keep in mind I was asking only for an estimate not the quote as that comes later, but if you don't put in the effort to work with a potential customer your not going to get the job. Each company is free to operate their company in a manner they choose but as a business owner, I found Mike's attitude towards a potential customer disheartening.

The Restoration Doctor assisted me after a pipe break in my home. My entire house was a mess and their team came out to help during a very stressful time.  Everyone was very knowledgeable and helped put me at ease. They got my house and life back to normal in no time!

Had a house fire with a total loss on the interior,  and exterior needing siding, deck and windows replaced. Work took a year to complete.This included everything getting removed down to the studs including electrical and plumbing, with areas where the studs even were replaced. Eric (business owner)  came HIGHLY recommended after restoring a house fire with similar levels of severe damage with a homeowner we know personally just raving about Eric and his company.

Eric was highly professional and adept at navigating the insurance process. He knew how to communicate with the adjusters to ensure that reimbursements provided the funding needed to properly repair the home- no easy feat. He also was extremely helpful in general with navigating the insurance process for personal possessions (not related to what his company takes care of) and took the extra step of photographing all of our possessions prior to removal so it would be easier for me to properly list everything for insurance submission. Be sure to ask him questions about tips on working with the insurance company- saved me a ton of work of doing things multiple times or missing a lot of information that might have resulted in the insurance not reimbursing.

Frankly, I was initially so skeptical that he could possibly repair the home that we planned on moving out and purchasing a new home. We have severe allergies and asthma that require frequent trips to the ER, and it seemed inconceivable at the time he could mediate all of the intense smoke and yuck fumes in the home. He did though, and did it extremely well. There is ZERO trace of any fire damage. The restoration turned out beautifully and the entire house presents now like a beautiful new build. My daughter and I joke that Eric might be OCD due to tiny little details that we would not have bothered even to mention catching his eye, and he personally would fix or make the adjustments needed for a perfect completion. Our home was utterly transformed. He has before and after pictures- ask to see them. They are mind-blowing.

His "soft skills" are also commendable. Of course you want a contractor with skills for the hands-on work which he has. But he also excels at dealing both with the adjusters and mortgage company while also being skilled at dealing with homeowners who are stressed and clueless how the whole process works. Insurance did not want to reimburse initially for our fireplace, replacing electrical, new siding and many more expensive repairs- he always knew what to do so that needed repairs would eventually get approved.

There were a slew of decisions to constantly make. He had the ability to listen to rather vague generalizations from us about choices and absolutely pinpoint what we wanted even when we didn't really know what we wanted. He knows how to pace the process so you are not overwhelmed with everything all at once. I most appreciate his commitment to ensuring that the allergies and asthma concerns were addressed and consistently ensured his workers every step of the way took care of any potential concerns resulting in the home being entirely stripped of anything that triggers allergies/asthma. Not easy given our three biggest triggers of asthma are smoke, dust and mold and even tiny amounts are hugely problematic for us.

At the end, he completed the work on the timeline he originally discussed. He will give you his best estimate- a  sincere and authentic estimate of how long he thinks it will take and he was spot on. Another important note is that he completed the entire job within budget with the funds reimbursed from our insurance, so no nasty out-of-pocket surprises at the end.

In summary, finding a contractor who does what he promises, does it well, does it on budget and in the time frame promised is not a mythical unicorn. Eric is your guy and I cannot recommend this company highly enough- especially if you are dealing with a fire issue. Our lives have returned to normal, except now in this beautiful home :)

The Restoration Doctor responded on a holiday weekend to water damage in our home.  They acted quickly and professionally and made us feel confident that the damage could be repaired.  They even worked with us on cost to help us out.  I recommend.  We live in Macomb, MI.
