Breeding's Ace Hardware

I love Breeding's hardware store!  They have a ton of things, usually just what I need.  Their staff is small-town-friendly and helpful.   I love to support our local businesses.  I was struggling to find a place to get a specific tool from my son-in-law's Christmas wish list, found that Ace carries it, ordered it from Breeding's, and had it within 3 days.  Can't say enough about the importance of this store to the quality of life in the Winterset area.  It's worth a visit, even if you live in the city of West Des Moines, or other suburbs (it's a beautiful drive, and Winterset has a lot of really cool shops, in additionto this one).

MobilityWorks

Buy anywhere else.   These conversions will rust where they cut them.  They have terrible customer service especially questions with any kind of warranty.  Servicing is pain and will cost you more $$ every time it goes in because they are junk.  And again service people you interact with are rude also.  Trust me buy from this company and the only guarantee is dissatisfaction and regret and I can personally guarantee that 100%.

I would not recommend this company. My mother bought a stair lift from them and at the time they said when we were done with it they would buy it back. Now my mother is in a home and we don't need this stairlift anymore. Now they won't buy it back because they said there is an update to the new ones but they'll come and take it for free. Don't be conned by this company.

The ramp on my van quit working and I needed it for work the next day. Mobility Works was so helpful and rearranged their schedule to fit me in within the hour!! I highly recommend Mobility Works for all your specialty vehicle needs!

Would not recommend doing busy with this company.  Since 2020 it is no longer locally owned.  Last 3 yrs had been owned by a corporate business in Ohio!

They were great to work with to get a ramp system put into my Honda Odyssey!  Very thorough and friendly!  They have also had great follow-up service in the 2 years since!

The UPS Store

I have used this store on a regular basis for many years.  The owner, Lynn, and her staff have always been most friendly and knowledgeable.  I give this store my highest recommendation!

If you enjoy being frustrated and disappointed, then this is the UPS store for you! From start to finish, my experience at this store was an absolute disaster.

First off, the staff seemed completely uninterested in helping me, and it took me forever just to get their attention. When I finally did, they had an attitude as if I was bothering them.

Overall, my experience at this UPS store was a complete nightmare. I would not recommend it to anyone unless you enjoy feeling frustrated and disappointed. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere.

Well I finally got a response from the owner of the UPS store in Pittsburg Kansas and they have tried to defamate my character and called me a scammer. If they knew that I was sending something to a scammer how come they charged me and why didn't they stop it there.I think they are just covering up their own mistakes in there systems! Why didn't they put me in contact with the scam department of UPS Instead they're just shirking they're own responsibility and trying to make me the bad guy when it was their own mistake.

DO NOT USE. I even bought extra insurance to cover a package that I had shipped and when I brought the package in to the store the clerk pulled it off the counter and dropped it on the floor in front of her. When I told the owner about it because there did end up being damage she said she doesn’t like me accusing her employees of dropping it on the floor. I told her I wasn’t accusing her I know she did it. I told her that there were other people in the store at the same time and that I was in such shock and didn’t want to embarrass the clerk so I didn’t say anything.  but that she should look at the cameras she told me she does not have cameras and they will not stand behind it on insurance because the company I sent it to went ahead and repaired it and billed me for it. They even documented it on my receipt and invoice that it was damaged in shipment. and which parts were damaged that they had to replace and which parts were my responsibility for the reason the machine didn’t work right in the first place. we were not made aware that when a package is damaged you cannot just go ahead and fix it without them having UPS come out and assess it. What a joke the owner did not care at all and not a good business person. Do not do business here if you want you package to arrive in good condition.

Jefferson Ace Hardware

Very clean friendly helpful. And I have found things there I can't find anywhere else. Little bit higher price but it saves from driving 40 or so miles

Doesn't have much of a inventory for me. No pool suppliesike Boone Ace hardware  has.

They have everything you would expect a good hardware store to have. A little pricey but you will most likely find what you need

How exactly what I was looking for good price. Excellent customer service to boot. The guys are so friendly I enjoyed going there.

Walmart Supercenter

Hooray, my first Walmart in Kansas and my first time back in this state since 2019. This was a quick stop for a bathroom break and to pick up some snacks. I found the store to be tidy, well stocked and clean. The cart corrals outside were mostly clear on a Sunday morning.

Inside, a few registers open but like most Walmarts they have swapped out more registers for self checkouts and "scan and go" checkouts. Clothing section was tidy and displays were folded properly. Front checkouts and islands were tidy and properly stocked. I had no problem finding what I wanted in the cold section. Self-checkout was quick.

Overall, a good experience at this Walmart.

Everyone knows my service dog Molly or at least make it a point to say HI!! Or they try to help me everytime I walk in.

Saw Mary today. Always love seeing her. Super sweet always helpful

Called up there asked if they could do a oil change for me dude says "yes not a problem im completely empty no ones here" i am literally less than 2 min away when i call then i get there i see 5 cars i go inside the other guy says he just got back from break and the guys been full all day no one knew what they were talking about i hate when a place cant just say we are busy  it wouldn't even matter if they were full but the guy said it would be about 3 hours before he could get me in what a joke

Very unsatisfying. There is no interaction between employee and customer thanks to self checkout, a lot of the price tags are inaccurately placed, and the little employee interaction you do get is a person asking to check your receipt. It's not what it used to be. It's honestly sad to see so little care for the customers. This is at most Walmarts, not just this one.

Love going to Walmart bc I can get food from the deli the prices are great the staff are so nice 10/10 experience

Big O Tires

This is the third on repair (different issues and different cars) that Big O has made for me.  In addition to the tires and alignment which I am also satisfied with.  So far this location has provided, timely, reasonably priced service and good work.  I am pleased with the performance of Big O tires.

Very professional, helpful and Honest! Fixed my front suspension in 1 shop hour where other shops had quoted me multiple hours for same work. Left with 4 Big O tires at great price as well. Thanks again

Definately is the best experience I’ve ever had when purchasing tires the guy who waited on me, was beyond fantastic, and didn’t treat me like a total idiot just because I’m female🙈 He was helpful and explained the whole situation to me and they were super fast at putting the tires on my car. I will definitely recommend them to everybody I know.!!!!

I reached out to Will at Big O Tires & asked a series of several questions about the differences between certain tires in price & performance.  Instead of trying to get me to buy something I didn't really need, he suggested that I go with a different option which was less costly. He & his team went above and beyond for me in getting me taken care of right away, several hours before I was expecting my truck to be finished. He even gave me a ride back to my office so that I could get back to work. I appreciate the excellent communication & professionalism...  This made the decision to go with Big O very easy! Friendly, quick & cheaper than the competition.

We took a 13 day, 16 state, 5500 mile motorhome trip. We were about 2000 miles from home when we blew a tire on our tow car. We were about 13 miles from this location and called and asked if they could take us - they got us in within the hour and got 2 new tires and a delicious restaurant recommendation while we waited! Their customer service was great and made us feel like long time customers (just like others have stated.. and it's true!) Very thankful for all their help!

Glass Doctor of Sioux Falls

Justin is a true professional! Our glass doors for three bathrooms look amazing. When we had an issue with our original order through the builder, he stepped in and saved the day! The final product turned out even better than the original order. His level of communication never left us wondering, which can be rare these days. We had concerns about one of the shower doors placement. Justin had no problem coming back, making a change and ensuring we were completely happy! I highly recommend him and Glass Doctor!

Glass Doctor was prompt and informative with the process of replacing our car window. They also did a fantastic job installing a custom shower door enclosure! Take a look!

Friendly and smooth process to get a quote for my windshield and ultimately getting me scheduled the same week. Install only took just over an hour and their office is spacious, cozy, and clean so waiting was a good experience as well. Start to finish can’t complain!

The people at Glass Doctor of Sioux Falls could not have been more accommodating. Scheduling both the measurement for the shower and the installation was difficult because I actually wasn't in another state most of the time, but they helped me arrange everything. They also helped with some very good suggestions involving my developing limited mobility problems. The installation went very smoothly. I can't than them enough for their very friendly and super professional workmanship and assistance.

Very pleased. We had to make appraisal and had multiple damaged windows requiring replacement. Pamela patiently discussed every detail with me and gave me detailed invoices for prospective work. Couldn’t immediately decide whether to go bigger on the project because of budget but eventually made a decision and paid them. They scheduled us right away and completed all the work in one single day. Their man was very helpful and professional. He even assisted my husband in a pinch. Good people. Efficient and on time. Clear on costs and fast working. Up to standard. We made appraisal and closed on our house. Everything looks good! Thank you so much!

Modern Motors Inc

Craig the owner is so nice and professional and it’s hard to find a body shop that does the highest quality and care like his shop. You can’t get a better quality of work then any of those High priced body shop’s in Des Moines.
You will not be disappointed !

First, very friendly and helpful from the first phone call. I set up an appointment for the next day, dropped the car off and the guy at the desk was also very friendly. They called me later that afternoon and said it was ready. They did a great job on the repair and charged me $20 less than what was quoted over the phone. They could have taken advantage, but they didn’t. From start to finish, very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back and highly recommend!

I was visiting family from out of state and a my engine splash guard came loose on one side. We called Modern Motors to see if they might have a part to fix it and they told us to come in that morning & fixed it for no charge. Staff is so so so nice & it was so good to be on the road again without any worries!

We appreciate the prompt and reasonable body work from Modern Motors. They went the extra mile to make our 2008 Honda CRV with 178,000 miles look young again! We are spreading the word and will definitely be back for service again!

These guys are AWESOME! Got rear ended and the insurance totaled out our car. They work with us to fix it at a way lower rate. Will never go any where else in the Adel area!

Edit*suspension passed no problem at next inspection station, was told recommended repairs were just dishonest business tactics*
The staff was helpful and friendly at first. Took them an hour and a half to perform a simple inspection and then they told me I needed repairs of over twice what I paid for the vehicle. There's nothing wrong with the suspension, just passed inspection prior to sale and needed another inspection to title it in my name, yet they tell me it all needs replaced to pass. I understand trying to earn business by reasonably recommending repairs but nearly 2 grand on a 12 dollar inspection? I won't return after the staff laughed amongst themselves when I mentioned I'll have to pay another 12 dollars somewhere else just to pass inspection. Joke is on them making 8 bucks an hour to perform an inspection. Customers repairing tires seemed to have no problem and were taken care of in a timely fashion. Maybe they provide quality service on tires but I would not recommend taking a vehicle to their business to be inspected if you value your own time or your vehicle is over 10 years old.

Customer supplied front brakes and rotors replaced, added a new pair of shocks and a wheel alignment paid $750.00.

Had they installed the rear customer supplied brakes and rotors it would have cost around $990.00. 😳

The brakes, rotors came new in the box from Detroit Axle with the oil, brake dressing and all necessary supplies, however in the labor invoice was a hefty charge for (miscellaneous shop supplies)

I wonder if those shiny new $300.00 shocks they installed were 22 carat or 24 carat?

No apologies or rebuttals from the owners shall be necessary in all fairness the service was fast, friendly and professional just like the kind you would expect when attending a 90 minute timeshare presentation. (minus the soda and snacks to loosen up your wallet)

In the end, It is my hope that this honest review should encourage any average person to be sure to shop around before heading to the "BIG O BOX" chain stores for vehicle repairs.

Took vehicle to Big O' Tire in Warrensburg, Missouri for a front end alinemen in the beginning July. As I was driving home the steering wheel was not straight, and it was pulling hard to the right. I called and the tec said they couldn't adjust the caster or camber beacuse they didn't have the bolts. They said they would order the bolts and call me. They never did. I called twice got an appointment and they confirmed they had the parts. I took the vehicle up there and no one touched it for five hours! So, I just took my vehicle home. How can customer satisfaction and safety be they're number one priority?

I took my mustang in for an oil change today. It took over an hour to get in, when I got my car back my floor Matt was filthy. Door handle, shift knob, hand break and anything else that was touched in the vehicle was covered in oil and grease. I let them know and they did not even offer to come clean it. Very disappointing I’m such a well talked about buisness.

I might say 4, but looking at all the hateful reviews I'm going to say 5. They've made mistakes. Human like I. Can't help everyone that failed to plan, but they try and for they I commend them. It been offered rides and other help when things went awry. But quality is great. I drive an Audi A-6, and they are one of 3 places I'll go to. I've seen the way the angry reviewers treat these guys and it's too bad they can't review the customers
Reality is that auto repairs aren't all created equal. I can't say enough about the help from Curtis and the rest of the team here. Keep it up guys

Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory Stillwater

The caramel apples are amazing, we will be coming back for sure. Staff was very friendly, helpful, and patient.

Expensive but worth every penny.  The owners and staff here are incredibly kind.

Best smelling shop in all of Stillwater too!

Wow so glad we went into this shop.  Smelled fantastic and the Carmel Apple was divine!

Love their apples. My husband and I are obsessed with them. We don't live in Stillwater but we go almost every weekend. And this place is always on our must stop shops list. My son loves the chocolate covered strawberries. Staff is always friendly and the store is always clean.

Great store with a wide variety of chocolates and some Christmas gift items. They also have bluebell ice creams.
