Steve is Super helpful! He helped me find a pair of boots at one of the other locations since they didn't have my size in stock at this location. I asked if they would just ship the boots to my house rather than having to drive all the way back over (I live about 50 mins away), and it turns out they do shop AND it's free for $100+ purchases. So awesome!

Oboz Bridger 9" boots - amazing boot that fits a natural shaped foot rather than cramming your toes together like most shoes do.

Best shoe store in Maine. Period. You can find brands like Keen, Merrel, Dansco, & Clark's! They also have some of the best insoles you can buy as well! The best part is they are a Darn Tough sock retailer!! Darn Tough socks are warrantied for life and are the best socks in the world. No matter what shoes you pick, buy Darn Tough socks to go with them. Thank me later!  5 Stars all day.

Another successful trip to Lamey Wellehan in Scarborough.  Our salesman was knowledgeable about the selection and was incredibly patient as my daughter, my wife, and I all tried on and bought fall/winter boots. It's nice to buy local and get quality boots that you can try on and wear in a professional setting.  Lamey is the best.

Came in looking to replace a pair of Keen work shoes I purchased there a few years ago and was very happy with. The specific pair I had wasn't available, but Andrew was able to present me some options that fit my needs. Wound up walking out with a shoe/insert combo I might like even more than what I had.

If I could give this store zero stars I would. Not once but twice did my husband and I have the same experience. On Saturday 3/11/23 we went to the same store hoping that the 1st experience would not repeat itself. As soon as we walked through the door, we knew the experience would repeat itself.
We had an idea what we were looking for and waited for a salesperson to assist us. There were 2 men working and 2 women at the cash register. One of the male salesperson was helping a customer while the other walked around not asking us if we needed assistance. This is where it gets interesting. As we were waiting a couple walked in and the salesperson who never acknowledged us went right over to them and waited on them.
You see, my husband is from Jamaica and the couple that came in were both white. I hope the white couple that was waited on by this salesperson had a great experience.
Never thought that we would experience this twice at the same store by the same employee.

Target

Several safety violations. Pallet jacks left on sales floor and step stools left unattended. Store was trashed and shelves were empty. Clearly a lack of competent management the turn over rate is disgustingly high due to poor working conditions.

This location is complete chaos. There are literal PILES of clothes on the floor around every corner. Things are just thrown on the shelves, boxes half unpacked in the aisles, bare shelves. I can never find what I need so I’ll just go elsewhere.

Store was a complete mess and our cashier didn't speak one word to us. I'm very disappointed in the quality of this store.

honestly hate to sound like one of those crazy review ladies, but it’s christmas and i’m pregnant. i went to the store the other day hoping to find some christmas pjs me and my s/o can wear for christmas for our tradition we do in my family. there wasn’t a good selection whatsoever but we already had gone to 4 different stores at the time. so i settled on a simple shirt and regular pjs pants. they were sized XXL because once again, i’m pregnant and i like to be comfortable and there wasn’t much of a selection in maternity department. i went to try them on today. i normally take the tags off so i did, but they seemed a bit small so i looked at the size on the pants tag instead of the hanger and it said XS… ontop of that im a stay at home mom so it’s hard for us to shop in general. I will quite literally turn into the grinch if i’m not able to exchange or return this. i’m very disappointed considering i already feel left out of my family christmas traditions due to the restrictions i have with pregnancy. thanks target.

Super Shoes

I purchased a pair of Alpine Composite work shoes from Super Shoes in Portland today.
I have bought a pair every year now for the past 4 years.
What I like a out Super Shoes Work Shkes is there rugged construction,  composite Toe, and the fact that I can work all day comfortably.
They also have a shank in the sole of the work sneaker boot that does not allow nails and screws to get inbedded in my feet.
The staff was very professional and helped me with my purchase.
I will definitely atly go back and purchase another pair.

Shoes are decently priced for name brands. Kohls is similarly priced or tends to be cheaper, so theres competition there. Good sales on shoes. I like to wear scrub pants, but too expensive. Too bad because they have just what Ive been looking for in a comfy work pant. The purses are very nice. Ive purchased a few.

Just exchanged a pair of boots I was buying for work.one of the lace straps had broken when I tried to tie them day one. Had no problems getting a different pair staff was very friendly and I am extremely satisfied with my experience will be returning for any future footwear needs.

My wife purchased a pair of danskos here. She’s had them before and loved them. There was something wrong with the pair she purchased. One shoes was manufactured incorrectly and it created a huge sore on her instep. She tried to exchange them but they would not let her. They don’t stand behind the products they sell. We purchased another pair at another store that stands behind their products.

LOFT

Great selection of clothing.  All of the staff was helpful; Grace was patient and great with helping me order what they didn't have in stock!

Really sad when you can’t return something you purchased at The Loft here in So. Portland because you purchased it at the Tanger Outlet in Foxwoods!  People complain about Walmart, at least they will take back if purchased in a different state or different type of store just as long as it was Walmart!!

Recently came in looking for clothes for some upcoming job interviews. Wonderful staff here, especially Alyssa-I was very impressed with her. She was professional but warm and friendly, and I trusted her opinion regarding what I picked out! I'll definitely come back here:)

The staff at the Maine Mall always seem like they are bothered to help you in the store. I hate going in. I have been a customer for many years there and I prefer to order online than in store.
Bad customer service.

Very expensive, small selection. No plus size. What they do have is pretty, but not worth the price.

Macy's

My fiance and I stay on call everywhere he goes as he is working long distance. He was at lunch and during his trip to Macy's he and his coworker were heavily racially profiled and followed.

They had a wonderful experience and found what they needed. I hear his coworker bought everything off of the mannequin.

At one point they asked for my opinion and we video chatted. I saw 3 strangers come up to them like they were circus attractions. Employees watched from behind racks. And did not leave their vicinity.

I find it hard to believe they had over two hours of free time to watch these two gentlemen shop. The purchase was over $500 and counting, as they went back when they realized they had forgotten something.

Do better Macy's and train your staff to not racially profile. I assure you they can afford anything in the store. Learn to recognize blue collar attire and understand the money behind, it if you can't simply learn to ignore the color of one's skin.

Was wonderful shopping trip. My mom and I had a girls shopping weekend! All associates were so kind and very helpful!

I love this place. I use to think this place was really expensive, but they're always having deals there that make it cheaper than anywhere else. Especially on jewelery! I was shocked! Plus the staff there are extremely helpful, friendly & energetic! Thanks, Macy's crew!

The elevator and both escalators were not working. Only one escalator was open to be used as stairs, and I believe it said that people who needed an elevator, like those in wheelchairs or with strollers, would have to use the freight elevator. The upstairs was not worth the walk up. It was so empty, I overheard people saying it looked like they were going out of business. I would say it was not worth the trip.

Layout is confusing, organized by manufacturer, but that's normal these days for a lot of department stores. Sale prices were excellent with coupons and my Macy's charge card.

Journeys

Customer service was very good, exactly what everyone wants and expects when shopping. The 2 young girls were polite, helpful and happily engaged in fun small talk with my wife and I.

My wife was looking for a business casual boot she could wear to work. She was familiar with the Dr. Martens brand was pleased to find a dark boot that would work. They had her size in stock, and the price was fair.

She also wanted a boot for outdoors in the winter slush. We found 1 North Face boot that she liked the fit and general look, but she wanted a different color. I found it on the Journey's website. But when the girl helping tried to order it through their internal system, it was completely out of stock. No biggy, it happens.

Both my wife and teenage daughter enjoy the shoes and accessories offered by Journeys. The only reason I am giving this store a 4-star review instead of 5 is that we wish it were just a bit bigger and carried more selection and inventory. I'm sure we would frequent the store more often.

Every time I come in here it feels like I'm being harassed. I was looking at the different shoes they had, picked one up and immediately was asked if they could get it in a certain size for me. That itself is no problem and I appreciated it. I told them I'd let them know if I needed help. I looked for another minute and was asked again. And, again, I said I would let them know. Around the third or fourth time I was asked, I was completely turned off and had to leave. There's a difference between good customer service and being uncomfortably overbearing.

The crew here is awesome! Special thanks to Emily for spending the time helping me find a fit in Doc Martens and guiding me through all the Crazy options in color, size and construction materials. This was no easy task, but she was clearly well trained and invested in her own stash of multiple Docs!

I found vans that I couldn't find at the vans store. There are lots of different kinds of many different brands of shoes! My sister announced that she wanted high top converse a few days before Christmas, I couldn't get them any where else but I was able to find the perfect ones her!

DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse

Went to to a simple exchange for a different size. The cashier was unsure of what to do and called her manager over to assist. Neither the manager or the cashier explained that they will do a return and return the money. They proceeded with the return and would not allow me to change the boots. After they mistakenly did the return I was not able to just change the size, now they would not allow me to do an exchange of size. Spoke to the manager and she was just as clueless and unhelpful. I would not recommend this store unless you want to be ripped off and receive terrible customer service.

Sasha is great! Thrilled that I can buy my unique shoe size here but disappointed that they seem to be turning into a sneaker store.

So many sneakers compared to the amount of casual every day shoes. Will do less shopping here and more shoe shopping online.

Sasha helped us get a pair of boots about 5 weeks ago and she gave us excellent attention and service and once my daughter selected the pair of boots that she liked Sasha looked for the correct size, but it was out of stock so she ordered it online. Yay!
One week later the boots arrived. We applied waterproofing (as a protective measure - it makes it easier to keep them clean). The boots fit well and were very comfortable.
Four weeks later one of the speed lace hooks popped off due to an improperly installed rivet. I went through customer service and the chat option too, but a replacement was not in stock. Sadness. They told me to go directly to the store and have them assist me. Thank you.
Three days later we returned to the DSW store and, as luck would have it, Sasha was working again. We went to the counter and explained the problem with the boots and the communication that I had with customer service. Sasha came over and was even more helpful than on the previous visit. She also searched online for the boots but couldn't find them either. So Sasha walked us through the boots and my daughter eventually chose a  different pair and Sasha checked us out. It cost a little bit more for the alternate pair, but my daughter is worth it.
If you want phenomenal service with a fantastic personality and a good pair of shoes or boots then go see Sasha at DSW. She is the best!

Thank Grogu for brick and mortar shoe stores.  If you are like me, it is impossible to buy shoes that fit well online. There is a good selection at this store and the rewards program is, dare I say, rewarding?  Let's try and keep our brick and mortars open and shop local when we can.

Quality shoes with exceptional assistance. The right shoe really can change your life. I got a pair of New Balance shoes and have loved them.
My mom had told me she had so much pain when she walked and I gave her my shoes to try for a few days and she can now walk much longer with no pain. So of course we went right back to Selby Shoes to get her a pair too.
The selection they have to choose from really is the best all around quality / best rated from the brands they carry, so you don’t waste your time and money on cheap shoes. Excellent experience at this shoe store! Will be back again and again. Thanks!

I have wanted to go in this store for over a year, and boy am I glad I finally went in. It is so nice to shop in an independently owned & operated local shoe store. There aren’t many left & it is a shame. I was helped by the most professional & nice man named Ed. Overall a really great shopping experience. Lamey-Wellehan Shoes - Auburn

Went in a couple of days to find comfortable shoes as I spend long 13 hours on my feet in Healthcare. Immediately was greeted by an employee he was very informative and measured my foot and recommended a certain shoe. The customer service was phenomenal and the shoes have already helped my feet so much. I will definitely be back

I work several jobs,  on my feet running around 8+ hours. Also have racked up several sports injuries. I was in desperate need of some work shoes that did not hurt my feet !!! Specifically the balls of my feet and heels. I was getting incredible pain and nerve pain. I'd been to orthopedic specialists, physical therapy, orthotic shoe inserts, various different shoes, nothing was helping at all.

A friend in nursing recommended the Hoka brand> plus Lamey Wellehan for help selecting a shoe/ fitting.

Went to LW Auburn and had a FANTASTIC experience!!! Reinaldo came over right away, I told him my situation, he immediately grabbed a selection of shoes. He made suggestions for extra width of shoe that I never would have considered myself.

As soon as I put on a particular shoe ( Hoka Clifton 9 in EE width) I just went WOW!!! OMG!!! HEAVEN FOR MY FEET!!! I bought them immediately and went directly to work....and for the first time in 2 years I had ZERO FOOT PAIN!!! I wore those sneakers, straight out of the box, for 8 hours running around on my feet actively. Only brief 5-10 min sit downs here and there. My feet felt WONDERFUL!!! Usually when I leave work I take my shoes off for drive home because they feel so bad, my feet felt so good in my new sneakers I wore them for drive home, kept them on till I went to bed that night!

There is no question Reinaldo's advice on shoe width and selection of shoes to try made all the difference. He clearly had valuable insight/ experience in what would help my feet for the demands I'm putting on them.

Hopefully readers don't object to all this detail and dissertation! But hey, I figure, if you are like me> you need all the deets!  I wish I had gone to LW 2 years ago...saved myself a lot of foot pain, Dr appts, useless shoes and inserts etc.

Coming from the Midwest, I had never heard of Lamey-Wellehan’s until just a few weeks ago. I ordered a pair of shoes that I couldn’t find ANYWHERE, but luckily they had them in stock! Placed my ordered, and received my item just a few days later. Very fast shipping and received tons of tracking updates. Will definitely place more orders!

So happy with the selection and service.  Entered in pain, left an hour later in my new hiking boots and inserts, with no pain.  Worth every penny!
