Purposeful Pilates

Purposeful Pilates is a top notch Pilates studio in the North Loop! Daniel is an amazing instructor who makes sure you understand “the why” behind each movement in Pilates so that you can get maximum benefits. She makes sure you stay safe, no matter what your body limitations are and cares about each of her clients. Practicing Pilates with Daniel has greatly reduced my back pain, increased my flexibility, and made me aware of how to better use my core throughout my everyday activities!

This is a fantastic studio.  Sessions are a little more expensive than you might find at some of the larger fitness centers that offer Pilates, but it is worth every penny.  Danielle, the owner, is very knowledgeable on the practice and takes a highly individualized approach to her instruction.  She also maintains a meticulous studio with strict attention to cleanliness and equipment maintenance.  I've been practicing about 10 years and I'll reserve my spot at this studio for at least the next 10!

Danielle (and all of her instructors) consistently give us a GREAT full body pilates workout. We've been seeing Danielle for 2+ years and we love her professionalism, her patience and her extensive knowledge of pilates. We also love the benefits that come with practicing Pilates regularly.  We always leave feeling unbelievably better than when we arrived. Worth every penny!

Pilates is an ageless exercise regimen. At age 73, I need a fitness routine on which I can build a healthy lifestyle. More importantly, I need a coach who can push me to achieve my flexibility goals but also understand that I don't have the flexibility of a 30 year old. I have found both in Danielle. During my four years with Danielle, my stamina and balance have improved. I used to drag myself to the gym. Now I look forward to making more progress. My mental acuity has also improved. Danielle has a unique way of encouraging and challenging her clients and tailor fits (almost weekly) her workouts for the needs of the client as he or she walks through the door. Like I said, pilates is an ageless regimen with an intuitive coach like Danielle.

I have been a member of Purposeful Pilates for less than one year.  Danielle Linneweber is extremely knowledgeable and an excellent instructor.  She is quite conscious of each of her students limitations and purposefully monitors each of us while teaching.  Her classes are fun and invigorating.  I love it!

StretchLab

Love this place! I’ve been a member since they opened. The staff is always friendly and welcoming! Highly recommend this place for any and everyone!

The flexologists are very nice.  The billing practices, however, are horrible.  Unless you read pages of fine print, be careful.  I signed up for what I thought was a month of four sessions.  I could not come every week so I had two left over.  Then I saw they took another $169 out of my checking account.  The manager (Allen) said he couldn’t refund my money because he already reinvested the money in his new business.  what??  This is NOT the way you start and succeed in Business,  You succeed by having happy customers and referrals from happy customers.  He rudely did not care.  DO NOT pay by credit card because they do not explain it well, nor do they refund any money.

I have been coming to Stretch Lab since they opened and I cannot recommend this place enough. I have many mobility issues and since I have been coming regularly, I have seen such improvement in my flexibility and general feeling of well being. Everyone is pleasant and kind. Annie is nothing short of amazing and is very talented, skilled and educated on all aspects of what she does to help me attain my goals. She has a plan for me and is helping me make great strides toward reaching my goals. I highly recommend Stretch lab and will continue to enjoy my visits for a long time to come.

Had a great experience here with the therapists, but the managers and how they handle billing is completely below board. I had paid monthly fee to to have unused credits saved to use later at my convenience. While this was happening, with zero communication, they charged me for entire other month! If I couldn't currently use the credits that I already paid for, which I was still paying to keep btw, why on earth would you charge me for for an entire other month?!?! I exchanged several emails and spoke on the phone and never got a defining answer. Good people doing the treatments here, this is not a comment on them at all. Just awful work in communicating their billing practices. Just be wary if you have to put anything on hold.

Radiant Nails

Radiant Nails was recommended to me by a friend. Crystal did a fabulous job!! I highly recommend this salon. The store was clean and had a laid back "homey" feel to it. I was really impressed and will definitely be back.

Update.  I was in today, 7-17-23, with Jenny and she did dip powder nails, with extensions. All I can say is WOW!  She did an amazing job on my nails! I couldn't be happier.  She took the time to listen to me and was so gentle with my hands. No pain, no harsh filing.  Jenny explained the process and helped to put my mind at ease. Thank you, Jenny!  In fact another customer was singing her praises while my manicure was finishing up. An amazing manicure for a great price.  Why would I ever go elsewhere??

Friendly, professional, and good value. My feet feel great and my toenails look pretty. We will definitely be going back.

If you want a REALLY good pedi, go to Bea!! She’s the ingrown nail Queen, & it looks amazing after & your feet feel so good. Working on my feet all day, takes a toll, but Bea makes it feel better All the ladies @ RADIANT NAILS are wonderful!

I’ve been seeing Jenny for a year and a half and she always does an excellent job. Jenny, Tina, Bea and Crystal are always very friendly and professional. The salon is clean and the prices are very reasonable. They offer manicures, pedicures, gel nail polish, acrylics and gel dip powder (which has made my nails so healthy). Tons of colors no matter what your preference. I do recommend making an appointment because they are very busy. I don’t know about 2-3 years ago but since I’ve been going to Radiant Nails, it’s always been stellar.

Blown Away Blow Dry Bar

While I loved going to Blown Away in the past for makeup and special occasion updos, I got a blow out there for the first time at the beginning of the month and was pretty disappointed. I have lots of fine curly hair and asked for a style with some body and wave, and the first thing my stylist did was drag a paddle brush through my curls. The blowout ended looking like my hair was straightened with just a slight curl on the end, and it was really flat (I don’t usually have a problem with body.) I ended up having to go home before my event to do damage control. I asked for no oil-based products and they put Moroccan oil spray in my hair which made my hair look really stringy. Luckily they didn’t put any hairspray in my hair after the blowout so it was easier to fix when I got home.

The positive I will say is that my hair was really soft from the deep condition, and I still liked the atmosphere of the place. I would probably go again for the other services, because those were so good in the past, but I will not be going back for a blowout.

I had a huge industry event where I was giving a speech and we were taking board pictures for the next year.  I wanted a professional look.  Could not have been happier with Joshua's work.  He listened and talked me through what he was doing.  I was in around 3pm and my make up held on beautifully through Midnight.  My look gave me confidence throughout the whole evening. Adam is the best!  He listens and then creates. He has so many wonderful
and creative ideas.   Personal yet professional.  I have difficult, frizzy, baby fine yet thick hair and most stylist don't have his skills to create a smooth, yet full and bouncy style.  I always feel better and more confident after he has created his magic.  Much love and respect sent his way!

I need to give the BIGGEST shoutout to this establishment’s ownership and stylists! My ding dong sister scheduled her appointment for the wrong day. JJ (the owner) was cool, calm, collected, and SO solution oriented. She made us feel like we weren’t the world’s biggest idiots, made us feel right at home, and provided top class service. Now, don’t even get me started on Chevan. The BEST blowout I’ve ever had. She gave me a great wash, great company, and killer curls. My hair lasted for days. This dynamic duo deserves your business. Next time you’re in need of a blowout in STL, this is your place!!!!

Burn Boot Camp

Absolutely amazing. It’s been so hard to get back into fitness since having my little one and Burn has provided everything I need in a fitness facility. In addition, everyone is so nice and it’s a super fun place to be!

Amazing gym-I’ve tried big gyms before and struggled with motivation and results.  The community, trainers, and variety of workouts are fantastic and I’m stronger than I’ve ever been!  You won’t regret it!

A great place to get an awesome workout in while not having to think about what you’re going to do! Everyday is a different workout and everyday you get greeted with smiles and encouragement!

Best gym I have ever worked out at! The trainers are great and correct your form and everyone there is encouraging each other to be your best. I love just having to show up and the workout is planned for me, different every day. This is a community I love being a part of.

Burn Boot Camp is the group fitness heaven I have been looking for since leaving competitive sports.  There is a huge variety of exercises and opportunities to challenge and push yourself.  I am doing things again I never thought I would be able to.  All of the trainers are amazing!!!!! And the community is extremely supportive! I have been at Burn for about 4 years now.  I have never been at the same gym for that long.  I usually get bored and move on. I can't envision leaving Burn!

European Wax Center

This was my first time trying EWC and I will be back. I will particularly be back at this location because of Gabby! She was wonderful, did not cause any discomfort, and made me feel like we have already met! She was very professional, kind, sweet and personable! I will be back soon and will be scheduling with Gabby again. Also Elyssa (spell check), the front desk host was also so kind and welcoming. She was very informative and helped me schedule my next appointment Hassel free. I definitely recommend this location!

Tricia and Gabby are great! They are super knowledgeable and friendly. Always enjoy chatting with them they make the experience more comfortable. New space is very spacious and convenient location wise. Finding parking can be a tad difficult but aside from that highly recommend European Wax.

This was my first time to the EWC in NE Minneapolis and I was very happy with it! My wax specialist was kind and friendly and efficient and I appreciate that she didn’t push products on me. Overall, EWC is absolutely wonderful and I highly recommend any of their locations.

I love love lovvveeee Gabby, I have been going to her for over a year now, and have followed her to the new European wax location. She is always bubbly and full of positive energy and I always look forward to seeing her, she is truly a breath of fresh air and sunshine ☀️ all the ladies at the front desk are amazing too and super kind :) they never fail to impress me!

The Refinery

I have been going here for massages for over a year now, and Leo is the best. So relaxing and I feel rejuvenated after every session with them. Also, booking an appointment is very easy.

The customer service is really good, everyone is very nice. The establishment is very clean and spacious.

My rating comes from the waxing technique and chosen wax substance. I received a Brazilian and underarm wax. The underarm was decent.

The Brazilian technique consisted of several small pulls. I am used to 3-5 big pulls and then some cleanup.

It was simply very uncomfortable and kinda felt unnecessary, but maybe it was since I had a slight skin issue at the time of service. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend unless a person is used to the several (12-20) pulls technique.

Easy to find parking within a short walking distance. The salon is very clean and the staff is very welcoming. I had a brow wax and tint. Stephanie talked me through what she suggested and my brows came out better than I could have imagined. I booked my follow up appointment on my way out.

I happened to luck out with the owner. First time I have never gotten weird bumps after a wax. Not sure if it was her brilliant technique or aftercare suggestion either way I see why she’s the owner lol…thank you. 2 weeks still no bumps hair growing back slowly…

I contacted them to inquire about lightening the color of my eyebrows from their natural shade. However, instead of providing a response, they abruptly ended the call. I made a second attempt to reach out, and once again, after asking the question, they disconnected the call. A simple "no, we don't offer that service" would have sufficed.

Amazing stretches, loosening tight muscles, my shoulders and hips are tight, not as flexable as then should be. I go to yoga 2 days a week and the stretch give the release to tight muscles!! Mason is amazing!! I feel fantastic after my 50 minute stretch!!

Julianna did a fantastic job!  She was patient with me, explained everything very well and was totally focused on my pain level as she exerted force against my muscles.  I will be a repeat customer.  Great Experience at Maple Grove Stretch Lab.

The StretchLab has really helped me improve my physical health over the course of the last 4-5 months. Alex has been fantastic at tailoring each stretch appointment towards my needs. And for me, it helped me eliminate my severe low back pain. I’d recommend anyone check it out if you’re at all curious, it’s worth the exploration and then investment! Each of the flexologists will meet you where you are within your stretching journey!  Julia, Mason, Erin or others! — they’re all really great!

Burn Boot Camp - South County

I love my early morning workouts at Burn Boot Camp South County!  Everyone is so supportive and encouraging.  I like that the workouts are planned out in advance so I don’t have to think about what I need to be doing. There is something for everyone here!

I have never been more motivated and inspired about a gym! I have never been one to stick to an exercise regimen and definitely nothing longer than a couple of weeks. Burn and the amazing staff and trainers have motivated me to stay consistent with conquering my fitness goals. 100% recommend this gym for anyone at any fitness level! The free childcare and 1-1 focus meetings with the trainers just seal the deal for me.

I have worked out at home for the past ten plus years so I was a little nervous joining a gym. However, after my free week trial at Burn Bootcamp South County, I knew what I was missing. Not only do I love the mix of cardio and weight training workouts each week, I also love the feeling of “family” that I have when I am at Burn. It is great seeing how motivated others are and how passionate are trainers are each time I am there. I am definitely here to stay. ❤️❤️

This review is being left by someone who has never enjoyed working out and someone who came into Burn after a 4 year hiatus after having babies. Burn is the only gym that has me coming back for more and the desire to go as many days as I can in a week. Everyone is super nice and welcoming. It’s been a wonderful place to come to take time for myself. If you are on the fence, or like me, who has been thinking about it and too intimated to jump in, this is your sign to do it!

I started going to Burn around 10 months ago and my only regret is not joining sooner!  The workouts quickly became the favorite part of my day. I’m feeling stronger and more confident than ever before. You won’t find a more welcoming, supportive, encouraging community anywhere else.

I highly recommend StretchLab!
It’s hands-on assisted stretching, so I felt encouraged to go beyond what I would normally do stretching on my own.
The staff is highly trained and gently guide you depending on your comfort and ability and are also supportive in preventing injury.

Absolutely horrendous management. Poor communication and billing problems that never got resolved with the management. Some of the flexologists were great but they apparently got let go. I had a very skilled Flexologist (Nick) who was thorough, explained everything well, and was passionate about the work but now they have a lot of new people who don't seem to know what they are doing.

My stretching sessions were great.

However, the overall management was poor. I asked to switch packages and the studio manager just added a new package to my account, meaning I was going to be double-charged. Eventually, my favorite flexologist was let go (another poor decision) and the studio never communicated this with me, despite me having multiple appointments booked with him. Since then, I’ve cancelled my membership.

Terrible customer service from the store manager after you sign a membership.  The facility is completely oversold and it's difficult to schedule.  30 day notice to cancel ensures THEY bill you for an additional month beyond your cancellation notice.  I also found the sessions were only mildly impactful, mostly not at all.
