Tasty Baghdad Restaurant

This was my first time trying this place and I’m so happy I did!! The servers were really patient and helpful during this unique experience. For my appetizer I ordered a delicious and creamy hummus that came with super soft bread. The spices were on point! This was probably my favorite part of the meal. Unfortunately I had to take my main plate Togo, but they offered m me some tea while I waited!

I ordered the mixed grill, which was lamb and chicken. They told me it was a popular dish to order for your first time visiting! However, I think because I had to take it home, the food wasn’t as fresh (not their fault) and the meat was a bit tough & not as seasoned as I expected. I’m so glad I asked for their sauce, otherwise it would’ve been missing something. Regardless, it was still tasty and came in great portion! I also got the baklava dessert and it was pretty good!

I’m definitely going to come back and try the Quzi and for sure going to order that hummus again!!

The food and the service was great.   Didn't care for the salty milk but everything else we had was delicious. Our server was very helpful with the menu and the dessert we ordered was light smooth creamy and had the perfect amount of sweetness.

First time trying Tasty Baghdad today and was not disappointed!  Food was excellent and the service was great!  Probably the best hummus I have ever had, and the beef shawarma sandwich was great as well.  Can't wait to go back and try other dishes!

Absolutely excellent. We ordered the lentil soup, lamb chops, and mixed grill. All of the meat was perfectly seasoned AND tender AND juicy. Portion sizes were fantastic as well. Definitely will return! Amazing service and quality!

As a conference attendee in Kansas City, my search for a good restaurant led me to Tasty Baghdad, and it exceeded my expectations.
The mixed grill was impeccably cooked, and the okra was a delightful surprise. Both were standout dishes, showcasing the chef's skill and attention to flavor.
The babaganush and hummus were excellent representations of traditional Middle Eastern cuisine, offering authentic flavors and textures.
Tasty Baghdad's ambiance felt like a welcoming family restaurant, creating a warm and comfortable dining experience. The cool atmosphere, paired with soothing Arabic music, added to the overall dining experience, creating a relaxed and enjoyable setting.
Manar, our server, impressed us with her ability to communicate in multiple languages, making us feel at ease and catering to our specific food preferences. Manar's exceptional service extended to accommodating our complex food requests, ensuring that we had a memorable dining experience.
Even after the meal, our specific tea order was met with enthusiasm and precision, highlighting the restaurant's dedication to customer satisfaction.

Pokesan - Poke Bowls, Dumplings & More

Really loved this establishment!  Went mid saturday after a local event, so it was really quiet and definitely would go again.  The bowl was prepared quickly and was very good.  Really liked the atmosphere in the restaurant, even though there are some good stairs to get up to the restaurant!

Had a great experience at PokéSan! The staff were super friendly and the food was really delicious!  This second floor location is easy to access from the street and has a great atmosphere. Makes a cozy spot to chill and have food and drinks. I ordered the teriyaki chicken and it was cooked well and had good flavor. I’d recommend trying if you haven’t gone!

Positives: fair price, fair size (medium bowl pictured), good range of toppings, fast service, and neat upstairs dining area. The raw salmon and tuna were both a bit overly blanched/cooked, but there shouldn't be high expectations for saltwater fish in KCMO.

Very cute little poke spot. The quality was something of the freshest and best I've had outside Hawaii.

Generous portion, quality selection, and the inside was a lot cuter than it looks outside.

The type of Build-a-Bowl place that deserves to stay right where it's at serving up deliciousness in every meal. Not often a new trend comes to the Metroplex that takes off like a bowl of Poke, especially when you get to build it yourself and make it different every time. The Staff is very welcoming and the atmosphere is on point with the view and the chill/comfy style of the dining room. I choose a Medium build-a-bowl with Vietnamese Iced coffee which is pretty awesome to watch. Just south of P&L, so it's a great stop when you're finishing up or starting there. Come by with a date, a group, or even yourself, just come hungry

The Big Biscuit

Genesis waited on us and she was so personable and friendly. She made my great grandson feel extra special when she brought him out a delicious cup of hot chocolate.
The gingerbread pancakes were yummy.

Always enjoy the breakfasts here, especially their signature biscuits. This time I opted for French Toast and they even warmed my syrup up first. Yum!
As busy as the restaurant was for Sunday brunch, our server kept a smile on her face, was extra pleasant and welcoming, and gave us excellent service.

Love this breakfast spot! I have eaten here multiple times now and each time I have been able to try something new. Definitely a good spot for a classic American breakfast. Their options vary from huge hearty servings to healthy and tasty meals. The coffee is always good too. My favorites on the menu are the breakfast bowls and burritos. Their prices range from $10 to $20 per person. The staff has always been friendly and the atmosphere is good. 5 stars!

We visited Big Biscuit on a Sunday morning expecting it to be busy. They were moderately busy, but the service was quick and friendly. The food was delicious-get the Bonut with strawberries! The cinnamon roll pancake is also great! Portions are LARGE!

I did not care for the western omelet the peppers were raw and ALOT I couldn't taste anything but that. But other than that I loved it and the waitress was super nice.

Falafel Express

The food was so fresh tasting and bursting with flavor! Some of the best hummus I've ever had. Sauces were delicious. Staff was very friendly.

We come here several times a month. The food is fresh and delicious. My arabic friend always happy to eat here w my daughter and I. They get the chicken shawarma wrap. I get the kids bowl. The hummus, baba ghanoush, pita & tahini are a must with every visit.

This is the best middle eastern food I have eaten in the United States! I enjoy trying halal foods in every major city that I visit, this place definitely has the best food and customer service. Even compared to Detroit, New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, this is the most fresh and tasty food for the money. Riya was top notch in customer service and the food was so good that we had to order a second meal to take home. You should definitely try the Saffron cake when you go there!

This place was awesome. We drive 30 minutes just to go here. The rice is so good and the Safron cake almost caused a fight between me and my daughter. The owner is so kind and helped me decide what to get while dealing with tooth pain. Food is fresh and service is quick. Its a small space so dining room fills up quick.

This place is straight up a gem! The young ladies working there tonight were so sweet and friendly. I asked for some topping and sauce recommendations on my custom wrap that they would recommend. My custom wrap came out tasting absolutely amazing. I addition to my wrap, the sweet young lady who took my order brought us water and their house blend tea, without us even having asked. Then she brought us a free side of hummus. Everything there was so flavorful and fresh. I would highly recommend. This will be one of my new go to spots.

Full disclosure, I am not a breakfast person, however the restaurant won me over with their fluffy biscuits that have the foundation to support any filling you choose to elevate your experience.

I love the fact that you could order their award winning biscuits as a full order (2 biscuits) or a quarter (half a biscuit) topped with sausage gravy depending on your hunger level.

I decided to order the Yard Bird which is one of their signature dishes.  It came with a side of has browns, a hearty piece of fried chicken that placed between the biscuit slices.

Join the online waitlist before you go.  The wait can be anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour depending on the time of day.

New Year’s Day we waited about an hour, this  was a  very busy day  for the wait staff and they handled it beautifully! Manager kept everyone upbeat as they waited. Just the biscuits alone will fill you up and they are delicious! This is a must for the food! We even took some home with us back to Iowa.

Only my second time here. make sure you're all the way checked in on the tablet 😆 but food was really good and our server Riley was super nice and helpful. this is a nice location just a little cold by the door but it is December.

A huge great breakfast!! Very good food. Very fast service. Just right before a day in KC.

Biscuits and gravy were good and large amount with the full order. Potatoes and scrambled eggs what you'd expect. The egg white omelet was in the healthy choices section but absolutely drenched in butter. Request low or no butter if you are watching fats or you might as well just get the whole egg.
I enjoyed the fact coffee was served with the carafe at the table so you could refill your cup 3 or 4 times from the carafe without having to ask for a refill.

Char Bar

I don't know how I have not reviewed Char Bar before.  I have eaten here several times.  They make great BBQ.  The burnt ends, brisket, and sausage are spot on.

Great bar with a decent selection of bottles and brews to choose from.  They even have large ice balls.

Most recent visit was for a business dinner.  Our server was prompt, everything came out correctly.  And none of our drinks got empty.

I will come here again

Solid BBQ. It was good to be back in KC and this place held the standard you come to expect. The ribs were nice, a little lighter on the meat than I'd like, but the flavor was good. The sausage and assorted meats platter was solid. The turkey was ok, but the pork options were done well. Their fries were nice. We did a ton of sides, and I am pretty opinionated on Cole slaw. You can tell a quality BBQ establishment off the quality of their coleslaw (usually)- and theirs was great. They had bacon in it. That is a first! BACON. Tater salad, beans and Mac n cheese were ok and they had a couple of salad sides also. The beans had a nice spice. The hush puppies are worth the try. They also have several sauces, I enjoyed them all. They served it on the side, which is the right way to go!

This place was AMAZING! The food did not disappoint. We came from Oklahoma City to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and this was one of the places on his list.

We love the food and had enough left over to take on the road back.

This place is great, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is cool. There is an outdoor okay area, and a parking garage that's free. The burnt heaven is such a good sandwich. I highly recommend getting the jalapeno corn bread muffins, and putting the butter, jelly, and honey on it. The fried pickles are great, the Mac and cheese is such a full portion with the burnt ends. You also need to get the bread pudding cause it's great.

Very good bbq. Tender burnt ends, creative pit beans. The biggest impression on me was the excellent service from the staff. I sat at the bar and felt welcomed and they genuinely wanted to know how I enjoyed my meal. They seem to have good relationships with regulars there at Happy Hour and want everyone to be enjoying their experience. Definitely check this place out in KC.

Jerusalem Cafe (Westport rd)

I could say a lot. But memories. That hummus(beef/lamb). 😍. Most of all. One of the most honest smiles I’ve seen from a staff with a heart of gold.  My waitress just seemed like she couldn’t be nice enough to me. That is getting really darn remarkable lately in this world. Please tip them well and support this business.

I've been here several times and I love the food! I am vegetarian, and one of the things I like is the wide variety of options here. I came in tonight with my parents. Awni was our server, and he gave us excellent service. He was very friendly, attentive, and gave good recommendations. My dad had the shrimp kebab and absolutely devoured it. I usually get the falafel sandwich. This time, I tried the vegetarian pastry plate. It was a LOT of food. Everything tasted great! I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a chill spot to eat delicious Mediterranean food. It's also affordable.

I had great service and a fast lunch here. The waiter confirmed the lentil soup was vegan friendly. I'm a falafel junkie and enjoyed my sandwich.
Honestly I was surprised at how much I liked the French fries - they were perfection!

The location is really nice and has an up-scale feel. There was a fair amount of nearby parking available.

A Westport classic! I've been going here for years. This location is the perfect size for them. Their falafel and gyros are untouchable by any other Mediterranean restaurant in the city.

This time I had the philly gyros. Super non-traditonal, but worth the order! The cheese and peppers worked surprisingly well with the lamb gyro meat. Try it!

If you can't make it to their restaurant, they travel frequently with their food truck. It's worth stopping by if you ever see them in the wild

Restaurant was clean and had a nice atmosphere. Service was quick and friendly. Falafel was good, dipping sauce was a little runny. I enjoyed the lentil soup more than I thought I would. Beef kabob sandwich had good flavor. I’d rather have hummus as a side than Cajun seasoned fries. My girlfriend had the dill chicken sandwich and said she liked the flavor. Price was alright for the food. Would eat here again and suggest to others.

Sidos Mediterranean Cuisine

First time at the Parlor and stopped by Sidos for some Mediterranean food. The food was really good and Ozzie took good care of me. If your looking for Mediterranean food go check them out. The food was incredible, I will be back.

I always try to be honest, I got denied my request to promote my channel and their restaurant which is win both of us but you can’t deny the food was absolutely very delicious. I can’t deny that. I would recommend you to try it. Lamb Chops 10/10, chicken shawarma 10/10 and Shish Kebab 7/10.

Incredible food, efficient service. I requested fries instead of a side salad - Oz and the other gentleman hooked it up with both! Such great customer service & care from the moment we walked up!!! Thank you guys!!! Food is 10/10. Definitely try the Baklava for dessert! So yummy!! 🤌🏼

I celebrated my 45th birthday at Parlor & it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had there. Justin P helped me get the perfect area reserved on short notice. Also our waitress Bailey was phenomenal & took great care of our large group. We’ve been long time fans of Parlor & I definitely recommend them 10/10 for any gathering of friends & family. Big shout out to Bailey & Justin you guys were great & thanks again for hosting us.

Parlor KC's Queer Bar takeover was a standout experience. The staff's exceptional warmth and hospitality instantly made us feel at home. The basement was an absolute blast, filled with great music and a lively party atmosphere. Parlor KC's commitment to inclusivity was evident, making it a must-visit for those seeking a welcoming and entertaining night out. Can't wait to return for more!

Got a lot of people in your party? This is your answer! It’s like a fun food court with crazy amazing food and a bar to boot! What a concept—everyone gets their own food and then joins up with their drinks and food to congregate and eat! So fun. This is in the Crossroads district of KCMO and it just has a great vibe for going out and having fun.

Had my son's wedding reception and after party. They really accommodated us well and the food/ drinks were excellent. Modern casual atmosphere with a twist. It also is fully accessible to disabled people including an elevator. Allowing five generations to celebrate together. Thank you 👍

My husband planned a last minute reservation for a large space for his birthday. Justin took great care of us and got us all scheduled and setup. Upon arrival our space was ready and our waitress for the evening Bailey, greeted us.  Bailey was beyond patient, very kind, and so easy to get along with. Can’t recommend parlor enough. We go here often and have never been let down. Thank you to the awesome staff for handling our large group and making us feel so welcome.

Westport Ale House

Looks like a great place! We sat at a table and my husband ordered drinks at bar. Waitress came over and gave us menus and said she would be back. Was looking forward to ordering the poppers but we finished our drinks and she never came back. We had seen her sitting and chatting. We left. Maybe next time service will be better.

I ordered a side salad that was big enough for a meal. It was fresh and delicious with corn bread croutons. There were LOTS of cucumbers which were not listed on the menu I (#allergygirl) picked them out one by one! Worth it but be aware if you don’t like them. I also had the green Chile chicken tacos. Wow! Delicious

Our big conference group (at least 40 people) came in last minute due to a mechanical error closing the restaurant we had originally planned to have our event (only one hour before the event!) We enjoyed playing music bingo and food was delicious. It was only $7 during Happy Hour for my chicken tender meal. Drinks were well made.

White male bartender/security with beard was very rude to me. He ignored me at the bar to fix drinks for his favorites. I had to say excuse me several times then he yelled at me and said, “You saying excuse me isn’t going to make me acknowledge you any faster”! I said,”All I wanted was to know is that you see me. He gave me a hand to my face and became even louder while continuing to pass over me. All I wanted was water because it was hot and I felt dizzy. He never took my order & told another waitress to not serve me as well. Rude for no reason.

The Westport Ale House had an excellent deck for when the weather is good.  We were there on a beautiful day of 72 degrees.  At 4:30, the place was pretty empty.  By 5:30, the deck had quite a few people.  The food wasn't anything to write home about.  Standard fried bar fare can be had for reasonable prices.  I gave them an extra star for the bartender was extremely friendly and went out of his way to provide good service.
