Walmart Supercenter

We went here to buy some groceries during Black Friday sale, with lots of people. The staff handled the customers pretty well. Kudos to the friendly staff for their kind assistance and patience. Will do some groceries here if given another chance. There are also plenty of available parking spaces with wheelchair accessible parking spots.

Gonzales Walmart your looking snazzy! The renovations to this store are really looking good. I am a little bummed now I'm moving. I loved the new shopping carts. They now come complete with a beverage holder and on the left a place for grocery list or phone. I liked also the new higher top shelf on the cart. Everything is really coming together nicely at this store. Was an actual pleasure to shop at Walmart for once.

I did a quick stop for a few things, I have never like self check out , however I did 8/30/23 forgot my phone 📱 on the check out and had too make a dash back into the store!!! The young lady working that area was on her job!!!! A job well done

Horrible store ! Try to avoid at all cost . They really need to shut it down since everyone acts as if they do not want to work . Go to pick up groceries and they make you wait 2-3 hours for picking up stuff ! LITERALLY.. go to the door to ask they are all over the place . Nobody knows what is going on everyone is confused. The system they have is not the brightest, not sure if Walmart is cutting corners or they haven’t properly trained their employees but this is HORRIBLE INCLUDING MANAGEMENT!

If your company is going to lock items up, atleast have your associates available to assist your customers. Waited 30 minutes to get assistance in the jewelry department, and was never helped. Can't blame it on staffing because there was tons of blue vest running around and ducking off when multiple pages were made for assistance. Also, how does customer service or managers not have keys to access these locks?

Hire people who actually want to work, not play on their phones and gossip with other employees their entire shift.

Renovations were the last thing this store needed to worry about.

Might want to be careful buying your produce from this Walmart.

These were how the strawberries looked that were out on the produce stands.  And this was just the first 15 cartons we picked up.

I told an employee about it and the response was “oh yeah! That’s horrible. You might wanna go to Publix to get produce.”  😳🤷🏽‍♂️

I bought my entire Christmas from walmart on line except for 2 presents. I picked them up at the store. I love the text to let you know where your package is and another the day it arrived. This has been a very good experience. I will do this next year. Thank you everyone!!

On more than one occasion I have received damaged, bruised, rotten produce on my pick up order. Out of date spinach by 4 days when I picked up my order. It was on the shelf 4 days expired. Falls on the produce manager and produce employee LS not rotating stock and caring about a product. It takes 5 extra seconds to look at a date on a product for a consumer with a pick up order. Fruit flies flying around their apples, growth on their strawberries. Had to throw the whole pack away in my order. All I ask is 5 seconds to check your rotten products. You could severely harm someone with these lack practices.

Tried pickup again. Disappointed, again. The cans we received looks like someone kicked them down a sidewalk and beat the can with a walking stick. Tea water flavoring for individual bottles was somehow the equivalent to pitcher sized flavor packets. Toaster strudel box looks like a goat gnawed the corner off. Absolutely the worst Walmart out of the 3 different states I have lived in.

They struck again. Picked up another order, reluctantly. Apple juice looks like they had a hippo sit on it. The strawberries were fuzzy. Do they even care what they give people? Are they THAT lazy that they cannot pick something undamaged or without growth to give to their customer? Is that too much to ask?

Added two new photos. Ordered produce. Strawberries were, again, growing mold and mush. Watermelon was already releasing water and breaking down. Also mush. Celery looks like it was ran o er by a buggy. Who is the manager and do they even care? I will stick to something, anywhere else for anything produce. It’s sad and shows the lack in attention to any detail that may exist in minute fractions.

I bought 5 pairs of boys jeans off the shelf , clearly marked at 8.99  and 10. Got to check out. They said they were 15.99. I was not happy. If that was so, then they should have labeled them correctly.

I was told this item was in the wrong place even though all of them were behind the $24.99 label, when in fact it should have been apparently $64.99 and they would not honor the price. Made may go take the picture after I had been to that section several times trying to get out of the store and then said they would honor it. I will never shop there again.

Target

My store is the one on Highway 280 in Birmingham, AL. The newly remodeled store looks great and has a more upscale feel than a big box store.  The sales associates are extremely helpful.  It is great to use the Target app and Red Card for purchases.  Target has a very customer friendly return and price matching policy.  Overall, I am a very satisfied customer.

I love target but today when shopping with my friend and service dog, we came across a pet labeled as an emotional support dog. The dog was reactive and barking at my service dog. When I spoke to an employee, we were told they are not allowed to ask people with pets to leave despite ADA law and health code violations. Employees are not properly trained for situations like this. I see this happening in targets everyday. Many service dog handlers have stopped going to target as this has continued ti be a problem for many years. Target, do better.

Renovation is tough for employees as well as customers.  Target employees were upbeat and welcoming. The areas of the store where renovation is complete look wonderful. I love how easy it was to find price information for each item on the shelves. This is going to be a beautiful store. Thanks Target!

This store used to look great and friendly.   Now the store has very unfriendly workers and the store is never recovered.   Cloths all over the floor or tossed over  displays.   While workers are nearby doing nothing but grouping together to badmouth customers.     This store needs some actual management.      And trash on the isles that if you come back a couple days later is in the same exact spot.     Yeah. This store needs direction

Outdated products on shelf. Customer  service, Morgan, was SUPER RUDE!

Money was returned but they were very inconsiderate!

Their grocery pickers are so incompetent I had to go get some things myself. Come to find out there's black mold on some piping above the food. How is this place still open? And they knowingly put a damaged case of water in my car. Several bottles fell to the ground.

Do Not Buy There Prepared Lunch meat it's out of date. And i got sick on it & I'll never buy it again

I previously used Walmart grocery pickup and shipping all the time, I started running into a lot of problems with items missing and unavailable so I stopped using it for several months. A coworker told me that Walmart has changed and the process was easy so I signed up again. I ordered several hundred dollars between two orders of Christmas presents and a grocery pickup order for the dozens of people coming to town to visit for christmas tomorrow. I was told today that both orders have been canceled and none of the presents will come and none of the food that I had ordered was available because they flagged my profile as fraud. I called my credit card company to find out what was happening and they had no idea what was going on and said there's no reason my credit card should have been flagged for fraud. So here I am a few days before Christmas, missing Christmas presents and food, having to last minute shop in a big crowd which is what I was trying to avoid! So was this easier for me... no. It actually is stressing me out beyond belief that I tried using this again. This does not reflect poorly on the store this is more to do with a customer service issue.#left stranded for Christmas

No cashier at any registers but 6 were standing at self checkout.  1 even helped me scan an item. It was right by the door. I sent the receipt to my phone cause I don't like having unnecessary receipts. I walk less than 5 feet away and this goofy man tried to take my cart since I didn't have a receipt.  Ummm not today. I held my cart and told him to speak to the lady that assisted me or the other 5 people (1 of which is the store manager) but I don't have a physical receipt.  He really tired it. It reminds me why it's been over a year since I shopped at a Walmart and to never go back.

don’t go if your a young lady. There is this worker ( might be a manager ) he looks at females all the time and was giving pervy vibes. He makes females feel very uncomfortable. His name is Larry. He has a beard. He is average height. DO NOT recommend this Walmart!!!! I never ever went back ever since this incident.

Did a big online purchase for my Father’s Day gift.  Notified my order was ready within 10 minutes.  Team members were very helpful and kind helping me load my car.  Management was very helpful as well to solve a small problem with my order.  The problem was solved with such clarity and expeditiously that it doesn’t deserve mentioning in this review.  This place takes care of people in uniform also.  I appreciate that…very much.  This particular location is a well oiled machine.  Great job to Management overseeing the daily operations and employee/customer interactions.  My experience here was outstanding. Thank you!

This location goes above and beyond! Had an issue where a corporate phone representative was telling me one thing that sort of seemed too good to be true, then I went to Patton Creek location just to be shot down and offered no help. Was told by a customer there to come to this location, and they helped me explore options and get my situation corrected. I am now extremely happy to have a replacement for a product that broke under parameters of normal use! Had a great interaction with everyone in the store.

Immediately greeted by an employee when walking in, they didn’t ask if I needed anything but I asked for the direction of what I was looking for. Once I got to the department I was seeking I spoke with Harrison who helped me find the product I was looking for while giving me the rundown on my options. I didn’t feel pressure to buy the nicer or more expensive options and went with what I felt like was the best decision based on his recommendations. I was happy with my purchase and satisfied that I could get in and out with what I wanted in a timely manner because I had proper assistance. Will have to return for other items needed in the future!

Journeys

Drove 25 minutes out of my way to make a gift exchange as the store has ours posted 11 AM on Sunday. Waited until 1115 and store still unattended. If they want to update their hours they need to post it accurately. I was one of several other possible customers standing outside in the cold, waiting for them to open and no one showed up.

Got some new vans I love this journeys way more than the one at my local mall! The staff is always so friendly and helpful and offered to order the shoes i was looking for online but I found these instead and I love them!!! 🤩

Didn't carry uggs in smaller size then size 12.  Disappointed.

Don't come in here looking to return an item you ordered online. With confirmation emails they prove you bought it. Some dude with nail polish and glasses will be absolutely rude unnecessarily and condescending because he doesn't see a barcode on the 4 seperate confirmation emails I had. Acting like I'm in the wrong because journeys doesn't send the emails he's looking for... I called journeys customer support right in store. That guy sent me another email and said I should be able to return with that email and if they can't figure it out to call their hotline resources, I mentioned that and the guy was mad and said "well that was my hotline too, so I guess I'll just take the hit and they will ask why I just gave someone money back because they asked" and I said "well it's not my fault they didn't send the exact receipt your looking for" and he said "whatever"  dude needs a serious attitude adjustment towards customers.. he should also learn how to do returns properly.

By far the best customer service around!  Mr. Tyler is the absolute best and has always been willing to help us when we have been there and I tell you what, if it wasn't for him...we wouldn't have purchased as many shoes!  He undoubtedly could sell anything!
I had the most terrible experience when Journeys was in a different location at the mall as the 2 staff members were so dishonest as I left my wallet on the counter and ran back only to be told that it wasn't there.  I had 580.00 in that wallet cash.  Only about 15 minutes and was right back at the store and I swore never ever to buy anything from Journey's and never did hear anything back from corporate and the thieves they had hired.  Then my daughter finally coerced me after about 2 years to get her shoes from the store.  I was so glad to find that the location had changed and that there was a new face!  His name was Tyler!  He gave us exceptional, I mean over the top customer service, showed us items we were overlooking and we bought quite a bit.  Went back again and he helped us just as much...back again last week and I tell you that I can't express how glad we are that he is with this store!  Now I will be loyal return customer just due to his service skills and the store has looked amazing!

Clean store, well organized Wide aisles. Friendly staff, thank you for letting us park overnight. Very precious to my trucker hubby. We will shop here again next time we come through!

Great stock of lego sets! clean and organized site.

Due to the fact that Walmart is the only tire service shop open on Sunday, we we forced to go there to purchase a new tire. Unfortunately only 1 out of 10 experiences have been pleasant. For this visit, in particular we declined the tire rotation, and declined having the old tire recycled. I asked for the old tire to be placed in the van so I could take it home.

After the vehicle was complete, we were charged $14 for Rotation and LifeTime Balancing. The clerk advised that all of my tires were rotated. Upon walking out to the vehicle, none of the tires have been rotated, and the front seat had grease stains from the technicians hand. Going back inside to request the $14 dollar refund and have the seat cleaned would have cost me more in time than it was worth. Lastly the old tire was not in the van as requested.

Something else to note, the paperwork Indicated the ft/lbs of torque that was applied to each wheel. Using my torque wrench at home the three tires that were untouched were set at the 100 ft/lbs that I had set them at originally. This shows that whoever keys in the “work that was done” had falsely input data.

On monday morning earlier this week I stopped by to get a phone charger and got just the best service. While the woman working in the tech section was helping me, we were interrupted by a pretty grouchy older man and she was able to assist us both with so much grace. The charger she recommended charges super fast too. Whatever she makes, pay her more!

I'm choosing to edit my review. This time I'll be adding photos. My review will basically be the same. I love going to the store and walking around. My biggest complaint remains the same, self-checkouts. I think if anyone follows me they will find, I'm not a fan of self checkouts. You lose so much of the customer service experience with self checkouts. I know there's a bottom line businesses have to meet but again what's the cost. Some of these are blurry. It's hard to take pictures in a department store without people looking at you kind of funny. There might even be a couple of duplicated photos because I took so many.

Last night while checking out I heard a man chew out a sweet employee because he had to use self-check out. It's astonishing and laughable to see how many people are rude and complain about self-check out and having to do something yourself. Maria, the employee handled the situation with grace and kindness. She did a fantastic job in an uncomfortable and ridiculous situation. Tonight, I met Kylie (spelling?) when returning an item at the last minute. Even when running in right before close, she made my experience wonderful. The staff at this location are remarkable and truly deserve a raise.

Let's remember to show kindness and grace this holiday season to employees working in retail and the service industry.

Good store with a lot of different stuff from groceries, clothing to kitchen appliances. You can get good deals on stuff and you can look for coupons online also. Stylish clothes and shoes for adults women, men, teenagers and kids. Store always clean, smells like coffee because it has Starbucks inside with delicious coffee and always carts at the front. Also available pick up option. I came today to store to get free baby welcome kit in the customer service. If you are pregnant just register on target online and get your barcode for free baby welcome kit.

This store is always clean, including the fitting rooms. They try to keep this store well-stocked and if I've ever not been able to find something there, staff has offered to order it and have it sent to me or the store, at no extra charge.

SO, WHY 4-STARS INSTEAD OF 5?
One evening, a week ago, I ordered an available pick-up item, online that I was needing for a wedding (black dress "A New Day") and the next morning, I unfortunately received an emailed that the item was no longer in stock (which was fine; that happens).
However, that day, I went to the store to pick up my other items from the order and decided to look for the black dress myself (the app indicated there was still one left in the store).
With very little effort, in the "A New Day" section, I found the dress I had wanted to order (along with 5 other available sizes of that exact dress), so I notified the pick-up desk. It left me feeling that whomever was responsible for finding it, didn't even try.
That's the only time I've been disappointed in Target's staff.
The upside to ordering this way is that my card is never charged until the items are picked up, so no real hassle. (I'm glad I was already going to be at that location because otherwise, I'd never known the dress I wanted was in stock after all.) Not ideal and made the staff look bad, though.

When I am spending over $100 at Target I would like the luxury and or option of a cashier scanning and bagging my items. It’s ludicrous to have security and Target employees stand and watch you self checkout over 20 items because no registers are open. Brookwood Hoover and 280 always have at least one register open to accommodate their shoppers….

Walmart was one of the only low price sellers that appeared to apply markup, equally to its inventory. There was a time when Walmart had nearly anything one might need, in stock in store. Walmart stores do not cater to customers the way they did when they were owned & controlled by the founding family. Now Walmart markets only the items that sell quickly, not sitting in inventory. Walmart is still the best place to buy the items they sell, as others locally inevitably charge more. I still shop Walmart, even though many of the reasons I originally shopped Walmart do not exist now. All employees were originally very helpful, aisles were always clear, and shelves were well stocked. Today, aisles are often clogged by pallets of items waiting to be stocked on shelves. I have encountered many aisles completely blocked by unstocked inventory. The fact that in store shoppers now have to compete with Walmart's own employee's and their larger shopping carts is certainly less desirable. Walmart employees shopping for curbside pickup or delivery collect items for those who want to drive up and have their purchase loaded in their vehicle. There are situations where that may be desirable. However, I find that meat and produce items vary greatly in quality. Some produce is not fully ripe, some is beyond ripe, and some is decaying and / or molding. There are limited items available at the fresh peak of ripeness. Items of meat vary in quality. Some cuts are nice and lean, or nicely marbled, while many of the same cuts have significantly more fat and gristle. I prefer to select each item myself.  I  am certain to get the freshest, ripe produce and meats that are the way I like, without gristle and a large percentage of fat. Times are changing quickly, not always for the better. Would shoppers ordering items for pickup or delivery still buy from Walmart if they had to shop themselves?
Are shoppers that would not shop in store with Walmart, becoming customers solely because they do not have to shop in store? Successful marketing is achieved in many ways. Competing with an online only marketer, by providing curbside pickup, or delivery may help maintain market share. But the most successful companies are the ones that provide something unique. Walmart achieved its greatest success with its original marketing plan. Losing sight of what allowed them to become the world's largest retailer and trying to imitate another won't bring more success. Walmart would do well with better selection and better pricing. It amazes me that Walmart's Fort Payne Supercenter is not as clean and well stocked as most of the other Supercenters in Alabama and other locations. It is very rare to be approached by an associate inquiring if you are finding what you need or if they can help with anything. The Instore shopping app is usually not accurate with product location. Additionally, items indicated as in stock often are not. Yesterday, I was looking for a bug spray when an associate told me it was back in the outdoors department. The app said row J6, in the rear of the store, by laundry items. This time, the app was correct, and the associate was wrong. I have also started to use the self check-out. I often found extra charges on my receipts when going through a Walmart staffed check stand. I still shop Walmart for certain items we use daily. However, I have determined which local grocery stores I prefer to shop for meat and produce. Certain others have much better selections of meat and produce  even though they may be a little more expensive. I think the pharmacy is the best department at this location. The staff is always prompt and curteous. The pricing is competitive, and the convenience of obtaining vaccinations  quickly and easily is truly beneficial. My impression is that the store management is likely focused on the numbers produced to budget, not the day to day customers' in-store shopping experience. The store is often very crowded at peak times. The parking lot is often crowded and disable parking unavailable.

I needed to stop and pick up some last minute pies for Thanksgiving dinner. I needed a pecan pie and and apple pie. They were busy to say the least but were still well stocked with most Thanksgiving related items. The store was clean and orderly. My only complaint and the reason for only 4 stars was the lack of human cashiers. Great store otherwise.

The employees were very nice, the check out conveyors were clean ! I saw some of the cashier's cleaning their check out conveyors to. My Walmart where I  live is very dirty I don't even want to put anything on the checkout conveyors. It was really nice to go into this Walmart because of the very friendly associates and the cleanliness of the store!

I've done a few pick ups at this Walmart. I don't live here. I was picking up items for family members I was in town helping. I found the pick up area dark. It wasn't well lit, at night. I think you need to light the area better. I also did a pick up during day, before the evening pick up. Your pick up area is opposite of any pick up I've been to, it's on the Garden side. Turning into the parking lot you don't have a lot of signage showing where it is. I saw one "flag" on a pole & the pick up signage on the building, which is hidden by the Garden roof depending on the direction you come into the parking lot.

If I could give negative stars it would be a 5. Absolutely no customer service   People waiting inline or workers just standing around

Don't even deserve 1 star. Stood at sporting goods for 45 minutes with no service. I asked to associates to page someone,  I've called on phone. No help. Stop locking things up if someone is not around to get it out for you. Last time I will shop at attalla Walmart. P.s. I wouldn't have waited this long but my wife is still shopping.

It's easy to find what you're looking for & get out if you know how to do self checkout. I prefer to scan my own & bag. The checkout process sucks if you don't know how to do self check. They only have about 2 or 3 cashier's working, so there are usually long lines. They need to hire more front-end cashiers!!!

This is a decently stocked location, but it is always packed. That’s probably a good time for the Walmart, however did usually chaos. Selection as good as compared to other Walmart, the closest one that I would travel to from Ashville being Springville.

I did open an 18 pack of eggs that had some cracks in it, then closed it and put them back on the shelf. The dairy manager noticed that and asked me what was wrong with them, and then promptly took them away. I thought that was excellent service, and he was very nice about it.

Overall, distance being equal, I will probably prefer to travel to Springville.

Just grabbed a pick up order. Crowded and crazy parking lot, but thankfully order brought in a timely manner. Got everything I ordered and it was in good condition.

I had my 9 month old grandson with me, and if you have a child with you, you'll want to get checked out asap. We'll unfortunately, the girl at the register was too busy being a chatty Cathy with her equally young co-worker,  who personally should have been at his own register,  just a few feet away. She spent so much time caught up in the conversation that she was scanning my items so slow it was like watching glue dry. Then when she decided to stop scanning because the bags were full instead of asking her coworker that was doing nothing but distracting her, or he taking the initiative to grab another cart for me as I was still unloading my cart, I asked her if something was wrong? She proceeded to tell me , " The bags are full." I told her and him well, "Why don't one of you go retrieve another cart for me? Of course he did. It's unfortunate that these kids can't think ahead. Spending almost $400 in groceries and items that they  couldn't predict I would need another cart? I believe management needs to have an employee meeting on teaching these kids how to do their job with focus and initiative, amongst other things. It's so unfortunate 😞.  Walmart should know better and train properly.
