Nokomis Shoe Shop

Caveat first: if you wear smaller than a size 7 women's, you probably will not find shoes here. You *might* get lucky in the clearance area, but generally do not expect to find anything in your size. I get it; it's a small shop and they have to buy what will sell to the most people, so I'm not going to fault them for it. That being said, I love this place otherwise. The clothing selection is surprisingly large and they sell many brands that are sustainable, which I appreciate.  The clearance area is always fun to browse and you might snag a great deal.

Knew what I wanted so the experience was very smooth and fast. Customer service rep was knowledgeable about the shoe I wanted, including recommendations, sizing tips, and corrections, but also seemed ready to talk about other products without being pushy.

Checkout was smooth and quickly. A bit tricky to enter because they have 3 blocked/unused doors but it’s all marked well. Plenty of residential parking in the area.

Don't waste your money or time here! Go to loeffler shoes or Andersen shoes on Payne ave. They can actually "sell" you a boot. In my experience at nokomis I realized they weren't very knowledgeable and really didn't seem to want to get me into a new pair of boots, so I went to a real work shoe/ boot shop. Nokomis is more for the shopper looking to buy overpriced hiking footwear that never touches the trail.

Local, dog friendly, helpful staff, and they have everything! I love this place! Prices are competitive and the selection is great!

STL Rock School

My son LOVED St. Louis School of Rock on Baur Blvd. He thought the instructors "were great" and the girls at the front desk were "really nice".
I thought the pricing was reasonable, and the business owner, Jared, very professional and personable. My son was offered a marvelous opportunity to counsel at a church camp. Since the opportunity was offered to my son, he unfortunately had to miss a week of the StL Rock School camp. Jared graciously allowed a discount for the week my son was going to be missing.

Having said that, the street is in desperate need of repair though. St. Louis County division of Streets & Maintenance said the street is privately owned by all the building owners on Baur. :(

We did a summer camp there, and our kid was hooked. The staff are patient and kind, and have helped spark a music interest in our kid, so we're now in music lessons weekly. It also helps that it's a cool place! Highly recommend.

This camp has a fantastic program with amazing staff. Our son learned so much and we are going to continue lessons. If you have a musically inclined child I can’t recommend this camp or it’s staff enough. Especially Trish, Devin, Taylor , Dean and Keith.

The place itself is great and my son loves it here however they don’t do very well with communication. We went to the initial trial lesson and it went great. We decided to give Kidzrock a go to give our son more options with other instruments and it took weeks to get a response about signing him up. Finally, we got in to try the class out. That class also went great and the instructor was awesome. After that class, we gave them our contact information and told them we would love to come every Saturday. They never contacted us to sign up. My sons dad and I have both called multiple times to get him signed up for every Saturday and they don’t answer or call back. My son keeps asking about it so I suppose we’ll try School of Rock.

My son Ari LOVED STL Rock School!!!  He made great friends, had great teachers, had fun, and improved his guitar (and drum) playing tremendously.

Walmart Supercenter

Love the new remodel, now that it’s finally finished. I used to hate the self checkouts but it’s all I want to use now. Change is not always easy but necessary. There are still lots of jobs available if people will just look for them and nobody sneezing in their hands and touching my groceries before I take them home. Thanks Walmart.

The overall shopping experience at this Walmart absolutely sucks. Not only do the employees follow you around watching your every move, when you ask an associate for assistance with anything they respond with horrible attitudes. I shop here because it's the only Walmart within an hours distance. However I would not recommend shopping at this location, I would recommend you drive to either Lacrosse or Dubuque as it will be a much more pleasant shopping experience.

Since is next to customer service please. Because this big lady is always sitting there listening to every personal problem that customers try to solve, very uncomfortable for customers give personal data/information and this lady is always listening with no shame, sometimes interrupting when the worker is helping your customer too.

When I first walked in I noticed the music it was very nice a calming. I also noticed how clean it was. The store is massive but it’s is easy to find things with the big signs that they have. The workers were very friendly and willing to help. Definitely recommend stoping here!

My husband was there today to return an HP computer he bought yesterday. When purchasing, he clarified with the clerk, he had a 30 day return policy. (no strings attached were mentioned ) Today at the return, the clerk was "crabby" and seemed to take the return personally. She asked four or five times, "What is wrong with it"? --  nothing, it didn't fit my needs and was redundant with my tablet I had already.  Next next her comment was. "you know we can't resell this right?" I am sorry, but I don't believe that is my problem and I am sure it may be on the clearance rack and Walmart will make a nice profit.
I suggest Walmart be a bit kinder, with the new lovely #TJMaxx in Prairie Du Chien offering a wonderful, soft goods and array of specialty foods, Walmart is NO Longer the only retailer in town!!

School of Rock

Mark is an amazing drum instructor. He makes learning fun! We are so lucky he has chosen to share his talent with young musicians. Our son loves him!

My daughter loves working with Chan. He is very professional & patient. She is just starting out & he is so great with her. I would recommend School of Rock to any child wanting to learn an instrument or vocals.

My daughter loves the summer camp! The instructors let the campers collaborate and be creative - from naming their own bands to writing their own songs - this camp is everything a young musician could want. Music is meant to be fun and inspire and create connections - you get that all at School of Rock.

Great staff who are attentive to students and their needs. The adult program is changing and not a fun jam session anymore, and they want you to play the songs they chose for $250 a month. I feel they should be more upfront about this when you sign up.

My kids love School of Rock...my daughter takes Vocal lessons, my son takes guitar lessons, and they both do the performance group. They have learned so much great music, and their confidence has grown so much. They have fun and feel very supported and encouraged by their teachers!

Handyman True Value Hardware

Large store well laid out to find things. Be prepared to have to deal with tools and items in lock up it's the way things are.Help is average at best and attitudes are minimal. They will point in a direction and give an isle number bout as good as it gets. Prices are on the high side on everything so be prepared to shell out dollars on items. The location and size of the store is really all it has going for it. Parking is good and easy to get in and out of. Not a first choice by any means.

Best handyman hardware to come to. Everyone is always helpful and friendly. I called for sizes for my home filter and the worker by the name of Zack R picked up the phone. Not only did he help me, he went above and beyond. He went and looked on the floor for my sizes. He then looked in the back room for my sizes and then called another handyman hardware to check on sizes. Then had them reserve my sizes from their store. I appreciate him and people like him make the store what it is. Thank you Zack R for your help. Will definitely be coming back for my future needs.

When I don't know what I'm doing they try their best to get me through, or started then go back if necessary. It's the Help center that makes them stand out. Wood cutting can be done at the Washington location. Keys on Lindbergh.

Laurie's Shoes Inc.

Took my son here last week to find new shoes for school. Found out that he graduated to a men's size 10, which was already a lot for me to take (he's 11), but then he was asked to choose whether he'd like a light or dark color. No option of browsing the store, the sales woman just brought out a couple pairs of $140 Brooks shoes and we were supposed to choose. Also, she didn't believe him when he insisted the shoes were too big. I asked to see a couple other brands that were less expensive, and honestly felt at this point like we were wasting her time. When I said we would need to think about the $100 pair, she took the shoes and left -- no thank you for coming in, or anything. It was so bizarre and unexpected, especially since my mom had a good experience with them just a couple months ago. Went to DSW the next day where he was measured at an 8.5 and were given advice on brands, tips, etc. for his flat feet. Plus, we spent $25 less. I rarely write reviews but the interaction at Laurie's hit me so wrong that I've been thinking about it for a week. Hoping we just visited on an off day, but be cautious about the customer service in case this is a trend.

Absolutely amazing service from the team here. I was in and out, but also learned so much about how my feet fit to my shoes. If you have been struggling to find the right fit, highly recommend stopping into this place. You’re not going to pay any less online, so just stop on in!

Salesperson could have been gentler with my foot and asked me to remove the shoe.  Bit too rough.  Loved the shoe though.  He didn't go too big like last person did from there did.

I’m not sure how to describe my bizarre experience but I’m glad I purchased my shoes online instead.
First, parking lot terrible with people parking not even in parking spots. Next, once my number was called I immediately received a patronizing attitude from the associate suggesting I had been wearing the wrong shoe size, I wear a size 9 in Nike shoes. I can confidently say that is untrue given my over 30 years of experience wearing shoes. I even confirmed my crazy going to another shoe store and trying on Nike shoes at the larger size. Definitely not a size 10.
The shoes I was shopping for were On shoes as directed by my doctor and they do run small (validated that with a simple google search) and so upsizing was appropriate for these shoes in this situation. However, I was suggested by the associate to even upsize to an 11 which probably would’ve fallen off my foot! Perhaps they had an excess of size 10/11s and we’re trying to sell them off. After trying them on I decided I did like them but only wanted a white pair. I was told it would take two weeks to arrive! I don’t know if they convince other customers in waiting two weeks when you can go online an order them from the manufacturer to arrive in 3 days.
So all in all, I’m glad I was able to try them on but also glad I purchased them online. I likely will never have a need to go back to this store.

This is the best shoe place in St. Louis. The staff greet you at the door & are super excited to help you find the exact pair of shoes that you are looking for. They have the best selection in town & are very willing to pull out every pair of shoes you need to make your final choice. Patrick waited on us, and he was great! Very patient & knowledgeable of shoes available in our sizes. There is a super positive atmosphere in the store, & everyone is wearing a smile. They really know their stuff &  can find you the exact shoe(s) you are looking for.

Harbor Freight Tools

I had the absolute best customer service I have had in I can’t tell you how many years. Like the kind that restores faith in humanity. Thank you Christine !! You went way above and beyond for me. I live in Wentzville  but will seriously drive to Watson every time I go to Harbor Freight. She is AMAZING!!!! She made a very chaotic hectic day ( week,month ) so much better and brighter! Thank you soooo much !!

the quality of the many of the tools are exceptional. I can say that most of them are on par with my Dewalt and Milwaukee tools, but at a much better price point.

Harbor Freight is a great store when it comes to sand paper, paint brushes, neoprene gloves, paint rollers, magnets, zip ties, razors, etc.  JUST do NOT buy the tools to use those disposable items on.

They sell junk tools, Pittsburgh, Chicago, all these cheap JUNK.  My X used to build these big elaborate dolls houses for people, and she was up there with me one day and saw this smaller sized table top circular saw.  She used it for 3 days and it started smoking.  It smoked more than Chong's last bong rip.

She wasn't cutting lumber, 2X4's, or thin plywood, she was cutting up match sticks to use as the fence post to the white picket fence for a lady.

I was looking for a metric tap and die set for a larger bolt and nut.

I couldn't find the correct size at either Lowes or Home Depot, but one of my local Harbor Freight carried just what I needed.

My son is very impressed with this store. Their prices and quality products will keep you in business!

American Rug Laundry

We got the rug back from cleaning and repairing and it still had one rip that had not been repaired. Not hard to imagine as there were many rips that needed stitching. We contacted them and they came the next day, picked up the rug, repaired it and returned it in a timely manner. We are extremely happy with American Rug Laundry and would recommend them to anyone who needs rugs cleaned and/or repaired.

During a time early in Covid, American Rug Laundry was the only business that was providing great customer service at a great value. They were superb. I’ve told everyone about them and look forward to using them again. They cleaned and repaired a very dirty and dog stained carpet. Great work!

American rug laundry showed true pride in their work. We had a really tough problem with animal damage to a rug and feared  it was a total loss. The rug required several soakings to remove the problem, .Mike, the manager in Golden Valley,  really stood by the company’s policy and tackled the issue, making sure that we were completely satisfied .

I have used ARL twice for cleaning (deep cleaning of 8 x 11 shag rug). They are always very professional and pleasant when scheduling, I have spoken with the same person each time. The transport team comes within their communicated time frame and is always very professional. Both times, we have been very satisfied with the cleaning! It would be great if they had an online scheduling/appointment management system, but I am still really happy with the service.

American Rug Laundry did an excellent job cleaning our vintage wool rug. It went from dull and stained to bright and beautiful. They fixed the adhesive on the back at no additional charge. They also expedited the cleaning so we could have it back before Thanksgiving guests arrived. Check out the after and before pictures attached.

I will say we have had mixed feelings about our experience here. My daughter loves her vocal teacher but sometimes she has a different teacher and that was not great. She would get nothing out of her lesson then. Lessons are expensive we cancled a couple of lesson to go out of town and couldn't find a time to reschedule that matched with her teacher, very limited time slots. We were then told the lessons are expired? So we just paid for what exactly?

"SoR is my therapy. The people there are amazing and I can be me without being scared or worry about being judged." - My 12 year old.

Our kiddo's self-esteem and creativity has soared since joining School of Rock. Because of the skills and bravery she picked up at SoR, she was able to perform at her first open-mic outside of the school and her band. The staff are receptive and communicate well and I fully trust that they care very much about the kids they work with. We are grateful that our kid has them for role models, and we're sticking around as long as she asks us to.

School of Rock is a wonderful place for lessons. The instructors are wonderful and my daughter LOVES going.

My kids love School of Rock, so we do, too. The teachers are all wonderful, funny, and talented. The best part: when our kids come home from lessons, they immediately go to our piano or keyboard to play music they just learned.

The instructors and the staff are awesome. They work on songs the students want to learn. The performance aspect of playing in a band is a great experience and gives them confidence in standing up in front of a crowd.

Bathrooms are very dirty. It's hard to find help when you do they say it's not my department.  There shelf's are usually not stocked. The shelf price is usually not the price it rings up at the checkout.  I brought this up with a manager a few months ago.  He actually told me to take a picture of the shelf price. That way, they could change the price at the checkout. So I asked him to repeat what he said. I was shocked and had to make sure I heard him correctly.

I have had good experiences shopping at Walmart they need more associates walking the floors associates are usually friendly and helpful I do not mind the self check out . Most staff are very knowledgeable to where a product is at thank you Walmart for all you do and charities you donate to

Spent 2 hrs picking up groceries. Asked several employees for help with locating product or for getting item down from top shelves.  Employees stated they were busy,Didn't know  or I should ask someone else
. When I finished shopping I went to check out and pay for my items i found long lines at both ends with self checkouts. Half of the other checkouts were taped off and said they were closed. I went into one that had 4 employees standing in front of it talking. One of the ladies said. "We are not opening any registers tonight. You have to self check."
At that point I had had enough. I left the cart sitting there and walked out.
What happened to.opening a register if more than 3 people were waiting?
I went to HyVee and purchased my items. Everyone there was happy to help me.

Put in more self check out lanes. Love doing the work your staff should be doing. Have to locate my own stuff. Have to price check it. Then have to check it out and bag it. Then I may even have to be loss prevention and show you my receipt for my items. What next? Do you need help cleaning the toilets? Sure looks like it.

Also, why are your staff reaching over to the screens and tapping the 5 star review? It has happened to me several times, I have seen others do it and that is just dishonest. Is corporate instructing them to do it?

Just bought $140 worth of stuff and there was only one employee manning a check out lane at a busy time of day. I spotted more than a few handicapped and elderly people who could really use a personal checkout experience. Then there multiple teenage employees watching the us all do self checkout. Seriously? What a horrible position you are putting them in! I will not be back.
