Ace Handyman Services Rapid City

Pretty terrible experience with Ace Handyman Services. Started off great - got my quote relatively fast and work started not too long after. First issue I had was the completion time frame (we were having a shed built). First, we were told about 3 days...then a week...then 2 weeks...by the time it was completed, a month had passed. The quality of work was great and I have no complaints there - but the scheduling between the office and handyman was horrible.

Wish that was the worst of it. When it came time to pay my final invoice (we put a deposit down for ALL of the materials), the price had almost doubled!! We would be paying over $10,000. When I asked why it doubled, the answer I received from their office person was "well, I guess the handyman is a bad estimator." I asked for the receipts and began to consult with a lawyer. A week or so later I received a corrected invoice that was about $3k cheaper, but things weren't adding up. Still didn't have the receipts. When the receipts finally came, we noticed that one materials receipt was tripled on our final invoice!! Pretty simple task to do - add up receipts. The final invoice was in the range that we knew it should have been to begin with.

I would not recommend this company to anyone! Very unprofessional on the business-end of things. Owner never responded to calls and requests to speak. He did have the nerve to have his handyman ask me for a personal tour of my place of work...

Punctual, honest, and friendly people

We recently had Ace Handyman Services install a new patio door at our house. Within a few months, it started leaking at the bottom corner, so we called Ace to see if they could come out and take a look. Tim came out to our house the next day and did a very thorough inspection of the door. He found a crack at the bottom of it, which is where the water was leaking into the house. We were able to get a new door from a warranty claim, and Tim and Trevor came out within just a few days to pull out the door and reinstall a new one. They did a great job, were very professional, and pleasant to work with. We will definitely be using them for our future projects and recommending them to our friends and family.

I contacted ACE as I had numerous projects I wanted to get done and have struggled finding help in the past. They had someone out 2 days after I called to give me a quote and had the work scheduled a couple weeks later. We ran into a couple snafus that were unavoidable and not the fault of the Handyman but he was apologetic anyway. He went out of his way to give me guidance and education on different aspects of my projects and what materials will be the best. I will absolutely use them in the future.

Great Handyman work. The billing Dept for invoices or statements took 2 yrs after the job was done to say the bill wasn't paid when it was. Need better office help to get things in order And keep updated.  But the fella they sent for replacing my screen door so the dogs could look out was fixed very well and he was really nice too.

Don, Trevor and Tim were fantastic to work with and did a great job with all the projects that needed to be done. Thank you Ace Handyman Services of Rapid City--you are so easy to work with.

South Dakota Overhead Doors

Fantastic experience. Highly recommend! Candence (in the office) was very friendly and was able to quickly get an appointment scheduled to fix our old wood roll-up garage door. She even called when they had a last minute opening a couple of days earlier.  Ben (service tech) was a pleasure to work with. He's  also very friendly and called when he was 15 minutes out. He clearly explained our options and was able to get the work done at that time. In addition to replacing frayed cables and rusted bottom brackets, he checked all of the screws, tightening loose ones and replacing stripped ones, and checked alignment and opener chain tension. Very thorough. Garage door works great. Pricing was very reasonable. This is the company to use. Thanks Ben!

If you are delivering garage doors and parts then  after unloading they leave all pallets and garbage to yor trailer  like your trailer is there s dumpster good luck !

Showed up on time, had the correct parts to fix all 3 doors on one trip. Was efficient and knowledgeable about what the problems were and fixed 3 doors. Was very impressed and will definitely use again! Great job!

Had them come out...estimate on how much to repair the garage door....got written estimate....told them to come on out...a day later we decided to add weather stripping and bottom flange...Cadence in the office said she will let John know....John called said he was on his way out....My wife nor myself was home at the time...texted John that my wife would be home around noon....I get home...check out all that John repaired and  replaced....awesome work...in a very short amount of time....and very affordable....I will highly recommend you to anyone who asks me about garage door repair or replacement.....Thanks so much...

Our technician, Jon was fantastic!  On time, he answered all of our questions.  He fixed our wonky garage door quickly and with professionalism!  Very happy with our overall experience and glad we chose South Dakota Overhead Doors!

Had all the windows replaced in my home at a reasonable price. They were flexible with scheduling and let me choose the day/time that worked best for me. Workers showed up promptly and worked quickly. They also did their best to clean up all the dust and debris from the old window removal. Definitely recommend.

Dangerous and unprofessional delivery drivers. Passed me on the shoulder of a busy road at a high rate of speed. Do not recommend. Called the company directly and the person that answered the phone blew me off. He sounded angry that I even called.

Vinyl Exteriors exceeded my expectations in every category. They installed new vinyl siding to my home. The quality of their work is excellent and the team was so professional and friendly. They worked so well together. Donnie, the owner, Is the nicest guy you will ever meet. He is very fair and honest and communicates with you on every step of the process. Many thanks!

I had quite a bit of hail damage to my siding. I was concerned bc insurance was only wanting to pay for limited repairs. I met with Vinyl Exteriors and he helped get everything taken care of. Everything looks great! I also recommended my parents to use them to install siding and windows and my parents couldn’t be happier.

Paul Davis Restoration of the Iowa Corridor

When I first started working with this company, I was super excited. I thought they were going to be absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, as time went on, they ended up treating me and my home very poorly. The brand new floor that they put in they put a bunch of rips in. Then when they were supposed to get somebody to fix it, I took time off to be there and they canceled on me an hour before they were supposed to be here. Those are just two examples of all the things that I had to deal with with this company. One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with a company I would absolutely not recommend these people.

I see that since I posted this, you’ve made a response. Well figured I’d respond as well. I guess if you consider not putting things back, not hooking up my appliances the right way so that they can actually be used, wasting my time when people won’t show up when they’re supposed to (not referring to the floor contractor), Treating me like I’m stupid, and treating my furniture with no care by placing cups that sweat on good wood surfaces, and tearing up the flooring ( which your contractors didn’t report, I did) and hoping to get away with it as respectful then your totally right.

When I first started with Paul Davis, tbeybwere great! Very communicative, punctual, easy to work with. They helped get the water out of my basement from a broken pipe, got everything dried out, worked super well with my insurance, got the new walls and fixtures put it. It was amazing.

Ever since I got to the last part of the job, it has seemed like a 180. They needed to hire in contractors to do the laminate flooring, and apparently not enough material had been purchased for the job. I waited weeks for the contractors to even come in the first time. Not PD fault, necessarily, they can't control when the contractors are available. But I didn't know the contractors were even coming the first time until an hour or two before they showed up because no one called to let me know. Flash forward I'm waiting 2, 3, maybe 4 weeks for this extra FOOT of material that was somehow missing, but apparently it still wasn't in. The contractors then set up another time to look at the job again, and a couple days later I get a call that they are going to come out Thursday 10/26 to do the job. This was confirmed just the Friday before. Cool. I had to change my in office day for work to be there, but I want it done. Fast forward to 10/26 at 11am and no one has shown up, and no call. I call PD to see what's going on and find out 2 hours later they STILL don't have the material to finish the job. So they set the install ate without all the material. I am still waiting to hear back on ETA for this last FOOT but I kept getting requests in my email and through text to review... so here is my review of my project that is still unfinished 10 months later. And probably 2-3 months of that time has just been waiting. At least the basement isn't a main living space, I guess.

UPDATE: Paul Davis has been in touch following the initial review. I have spoken with Scott (one of the owners) a couple times who apologized and touched base on where the project was at and what a realistic timeline would be due to backordered product (the actual timeline ended up being quicker than projected). The flooring that was on back order did come in, but we hit another snag with it. We were able to work together to find a location with vinyl in stock same day to get the floor then installed the morning after it was initially re-scheduled. All remaining touch ups and moving of the larger items were handled quickly, and the finished project does look amazing.

I have lupus, the thing that negatively affects me the most is stress. We had a small kitchen fire that resulted in smoke damage, toxins and an awful smell. Physical demands aside I truly could not handle the stress.
Paul Davis (main rep was Trevor) was absolutely wonderful to work with.
I say work with but they coordinated everything, took care of it all and made sure I didn't have to think about it. They kept us up to date but also let me rest while they worked.
They made it so I was not in charge, an excellent thing for me.
They kept to the timeline and got me set back up to normal with 24 hours to have Thanksgiving with my family.
It may not be that big of a deal to some but meant the world to me.
A lupus flare brought on by stress for me means I stress stutter and that my organs and joints get attacked.
You have no idea, Trevor, what you kept from happening to me, getting the particle fan in here during your consult? TMI about me (I overshare), but you were literally a life saver in my case!

We had a slow water leak in the basement that accumulated over time and subsequently damaged carpet and drywall.  The Paul Davis team got in quickly, extracted the damaged materials, and dried out what remained.  They did an excellent job preparing the area for repair and connected us with great contractor to do the repairs.  If needed, we will definitely use them again!

Paul Davis did an amazing job helping us out! We initially had a sump pump failure which flooded our newly finished basement, which Paul Davis responded to quickly and mitigated to limit the damage. Shortly after that a storm came through that caused damage to our roof, siding and garage door. Paul Davis again quickly responded to tarp our roof. Then Paul Davis worked with our insurance company and adjusters on both claims to document and estimate the mitigation, temporary repairs, and reconstruction on our home. They were able to take the stress off our shoulders through this entire process and got things approved quickly. They just completed the repairs to both the interior and exterior of our home! We are very thankful to have partnered with Paul Davis and would highly recommend them for any mitigation our reconstruction needs to your home!

The team did a really good job getting our carpet clean. Would recommend them any day.

Had our couches cleaned and they look and smell great! Easy to schedule and honest opinions of what we needed.

They came out worked with my budget and gave honest options on it. With the basic clean it did a great job on my stains.

Brian did excellent job of cleaning the ducts and answering all the questions we had. Very please with his service. We had also requested for furnace cleaning. He did use his power equipment to clean the drum but the result was not to our satisfaction. The picture attached shows substance even after the service was completed. I wish Americlean would take out the drum and clean it up or had better equipment to clean the drum properly.

Brian was our service technician, and he did a great job. Explained everything and was very responsive to my questions. His experience was obvious by how quickly he worked and cleaned up afterward. I would recommend him to anyone.

The finished product of our total home remodel is a 5-star result. The transformation of a mid-century property into our modern day home is amazing! We love our new, old home!

The remodel project was a major undertaking that required nearly 1.5 years to complete. The project design, planning and execution with numerous sub-contractors seemed disconnected and sluggish at times which was very frustrating.

The EHB finished carpenters and framers were exceptional. The EHB staff comprised of project manager, designer and coordinators overseeing our project were always accessible and very responsive to our inquiries. After our relocation into the home, the follow-up to punch list issues was exceptional!

We had Steve and Bob out to our house today to clean our ducts. They arrived on-time, were very kind and kept my house clean before/after and during the whole process. They cleaned out our vents, cold air returns and our furnace and their price was the best that I found around Cedar Rapids. I was so impressed with them that I've already recommended them to multiple friends and neighbors that have asked about getting the same work done. I 100% would recommend them to anyone looking.

We had our sewer back up, they came out same day, and even with the unusual setup were able to get it cleaned up. Very nice and professional!  Even our plumber was impressed!  Will definitely be using them again!

Had a sudden water leak from my kitchen sink and needed to get someone out to the house fast.  A friend recommended Puro Clean and they were on the spot within an hour!  They were very professional, dried down my basement and main level.  Helped walk me through the insurance process as well as dealt with the adjuster on getting my house back to normal as soon as possible.  I can't recommend the owner Adam and his crew enough!
