American Country Home Store

We placed an order for an item that was back ordered, which was frustrating but understandable. The staff at American Country was wonderful in providing information on updates.  They answered all inquiries promptly and fully. They were caring and solicitous, I felt as if I was dealing with someone who cared and someone I knew. The bookcase is massive and impressive, we love it! Thank you to all who helped!

Our wicker table and loveseat are beautiful! Comfortable and inviting - we don’t know why we waited so long!

I bought the pencil post bed and am very pleased with it. I got it unfinished so I could stain it the color I needed. The service was excellent. I had one contact person which was great because she could follow the whole process through, answer questions, as well as make some customized adjustments so it would work with my adjustable bed.  We've had the bed a couple of years now and it is very sturdy and beautiful.

I purchased four custom rattan chairs. Wendy and Maggie went out of their way to help me get them delivered to my home before a very long distance move so that the movers could ship them with our household goods and avoid very large shipping fees.  The chairs turned out beautifully and work very well in our island home. I would highly recommend working with this company!

This delightful store has a wonderful selection of unique and well made items. I have loved every single item I purchased from this place. The customer service is personal and they will go past the extra mile to help.

Walmart Supercenter

Good selection. Not overly friendly though. Just your standard Wal-mart. They do have quite a few self checkouts, so getting in and out is pretty easy which is nice.

Bought a $100 gift card back in electronics. No one told me that gift cards weren't activating at registers. Get home try to use it and it's not active. Called electronics and a supervisor said to come to the service desk and they'll take care of it. It's an hour round trip for me. I get here and walk in and am told the service desk is closed. Spoke to Irit and was told nothing could be done. No solution offered what-so-ever. Had to call a corporate number to get a solution.

It's a Walmart. Same store as last time I was asked to review. No really rude staff and only had to snap on another person's kid once..
Sorry not sorry but folks other people don't think your kids behavior is as cute as you do....

Boone, not good to match their own prices they have on shelves.
They also have so much stuff hanging Goodluck reaching in and getting something. They all fall. Look at photos.

Lady at customer service with the long black hair and I think glasses on today’s date around 5:45ish was very snotty. I needed a money order to get cash off my debit card that wasn’t working at ATM’s. She argued that that’s “not what they are intended for” and had to argue against her personal opinion to have one sold to me. She wasn’t even a part of the transaction and decided to give her input into a situation she had nothing to do with. She then tried to say my Walmart debit card won’t work without even knowing what kind of card it is. Long story short it worked just fine.The lady at the register was very nice and helped me get my money order. The other lady said I can’t cash it at Walmart because it won’t work right away in a very unpleasant tone. I don’t know what she thinks customer service is, but that was not it. Very rude from her, very nice from the lady at the register.

O'Donnell Ace Hardware

It’s my first go-to place for any hardware, paint, tools, furnace filters, lightbulbs, etc. The best part is that there’s always someone available to help me with what I am looking for. Also online ordering and curbside pick works great.

Very helpful staff that really are knowledgeable about their products and have good ideas to try for alternatives! Thanks for always having smiles on your faces & being so helpful, I send a lot of people your way because of it!

Always greeted by staff offering to help.  An easy in and out for little things rather than dealing with the traffic to get to the big box store, especially when its for some single item oddity you need.  They have saved the day several times for me, last trip it was a pair of set screws for a 40 year old sewing machine and today it was a spark plug for my snow blower to get it running again.

This is the best store in Ames. When you're like "I need one of those little thingies but I don't remember what they're called" they always know what you mean. And they have a surprisingly great selection of kitchen equipment including canning supplies.

SUPER-HELPFUL: A guy in the repair center offered to help me get an old chimney brush attached to an adapter on a 12ft extension pole. He drilled the holes and found the bolts and nuts that I needed and put them on for me (Less than a dollar worth of parts!). Thanks ACE!
This really helped me solve my problem (I was going to resort to duct taping the parts together).

I have to share my mystery experience here in the morning.
I took 3 cans of baby formula to check out. I wanted to spend the formula check I received from formula producer, so I went from check-out counter. The machine suddenly broke down, no one knew how to deal with it. I think that’s okay as machines always had problems. BUT, the store guys just let me wait there for 20 minutes by only saying one sentence of “the machine always go wrong”, I just waited there seeing people come and go and my daughter seated in the trolley asleep, I had to calm her down.
Excuse me, is it the machine let you make your customer wait there for that long time and let no one to help? Is it the machine that stoped you telling your team member to fix the problem? I even had to explain to a new check out person what happened. To be polite, I did not express my anger at the spot at the time, but is it a good manner you run a service business like that? ???  How do you train your team? Every time I enter your store I saw the slogan “my team and I are happy ti help”. Is it your way to help?

The store was so crowded that we couldn't pick up everything we needed. Half of the congestion was employees picking online orders. Not going back there

Update: in the summer of 2022, a new bike rack has replaced the rusty one.

Brand new store. Helpful and knowledgeable employees. Deserves a newer bike rack (late 2020). As of April 2021, the dying bike rack seems to double as a garbage collector. The contrast with the squeaky clean, superbly maintained parking speaks volumes.

Not going to share the secret time to shop here (early early morning) but as long as you avoid the dancing stockers, you can get in and out super fast.

Walmart is my Deals on Wheels got to have that without that whole life will get pretty expensive and out of control thank you Walmart for sharing your hospitality with me I mean it's almost impossible to beat the prices on the merchandise or their produce anything they have in that store it's hard to beat the prices and everybody's friendly and helpful in any way possible to accommodate you I give them a standing ovation

School of Rock

I just left from my 30 minute drum trial and man let me tell you it was an experience. The staff is very friendly the teacher is really nice, I am most certainly going to sign up. The prices are reasonable and cheap. I highly recommend this location and school for anybody who wants to learn pretty much anything when it comes to instruments or vocal lessons

I would not waste your money. At all. I have given them two tries. The concert was a rip off. One tiny segment after over $100 a month. They can do various activities for that price. As far as staff I don’t feel comfortable going because I was looking for a restroom and the teacher was too busy looking at me like I was going to be a suspicious person. I’m sure it’s because I’m not blonde or so. No need to fret over me. I won’t harm or steal due to my ethnicity or culture. It is also just not worth the pricing.

Great and friendly staff. Shawn has always been awesome and accommodating with our schedule and the staff is great with the kids. Highly recommend!

Our 14-year old enjoyed the garage band practices and working w/ the instructors and other students, but halfway through the class, they changed the performance date to a date that we knew from the beginning we would not be able to attend.  Our daughter was very disappointed that she would not get the opportunity to participate in the end of course performance.  She had worked really hard to learn the songs, and had already invited family and friends.  Then we learned that the school changed the performance date because of a conflict with the OU/OSU football game - A SCHEDULE THAT WAS SET MONTHS PRIOR TO THE START OF THE CLASS!  We will not be back and would not recommend!

Overall we enjoyed the opportunity to share some instruments with our kids. For the price you get a good amount of time.

The choice in colors was so vast- and the installation was so quick! We have a 100 year old home and these blinds not only gave a nod to the old- they wink at the new century ahead.  They are perfect and we are so pleased. Eric is the best- not only to work with and install- but to find the dollar we were Looking for in this improvement to our home!  The best thing is the energy we will be saving because of the drafts now blocked from each window- in summer and winter. Absolutely this is what we wanted!  Thank you so much! We are very happy with the new motorized solar blinds. They are good quality, beautiful, easy to use, very quiet when raising and lowering. Eric is professional, knowledgeable, and friendly, The installation went perfectly and quickly. I highly recommend this company for window treatments!!

We had such a great experience with Budget Blinds. Eric and Ashley were amazing through the whole process, making recommendations on what would work best for our windows. Our installer, Noah, was amazing as well. He was kind, professional and fast! He cleaned my window before installing my kitchen blinds on my back door and cleaned up every piece of trash and took it with him.

My shades are awesome. Eric took way more time than usual measuring my bay windows b/c they were a challenge. When the shades came, they were a perfect fit and I LOVE the fabric.

We are thrilled about our Lutron remote shades! We love our other shades they installed but the Lutron shades are SILENT and so convenient!! Customer service is wonderful, great team work. Eric helped us pick out just what we needed and stay on budget. Noah installed them so efficiently and timely and was so nice and personable. So glad we gave them our business!

Not all lanes are open often, so expect a 5 to 15 min wait time to pay, not everything you need they have, but staff is very friendly and they maintain the store as organized as possible. Great deals! And from time to time they have great on clearance items.

It's crazy to believe we live in a world where people don't look after each other. Not to mention, looking out for the children in our world. Every day, children get kidnapped and never to be seen. But you would think there is some good in people to try and prevent those things from happening. Nope, I guess not. Today, I had the courtesy of meeting said heartless individual when I was trying to deliver product. I noticed I small child 4 or 5 years old, and I didn't see a parent insight. But I still had to do my job and deliver. I asked a Walmart employee to keep an eye on said child so that nothing happened to her. But the employee said, "I don't get paid enough to watch someone else's child." I responded with, "Yeah, but it's the right thing to do." Eventually, I finished my delivery, and the child was picked up by her father.
I honestly felt disgusted by this employee's response and made my blood boil. Who would have such a heartless attitude towards a child.

Do better guys if not for yourself but for the children who are still innocent to the dangers of this world.

Walmart has come a long way with customer service and returns can be done through the pickup area where you would pickup your order. If item was bought online you can choose the return it through the drive up. I really like this idea and it worked very well for me.

Many shelves are often bare. Customer service is hit or miss, some are fantastic but certainly not the case for all.

I had the worst experience at this Walmart (Worthington) As I went to self checkout to pay for my three items one of the employees walked up and asked did I scan everything. I then proceeded to show her my receipt and my three items. As I looked around I noticed people with way more items but no one checked their receipt. This was a discrimination situation. I was the only Black person in line. I called this business on the next business day, but I could tell the manager wasn’t concerned at all. I will NEVER shop here again!

Gary is an AMAZING assest to this store!  He is the most kind, knowledgeble, caring individual I've ever met.  On numerous occasions I have visited Ace in a frustrated panick trying to find the part/piece I need, and when I arrive I find Gary!  He has the whole store memorized and knows the inventory perfectly.  It's a relaxed shopping experience and he always saves the day.  Thank-you Gary!  We can't wait to see you the next time:)

Love All the Ace Hardware Stores! Prices are higher but they have everything you need

Just because artificial intelligence is at its finest and highest peak Performance currently ,than it has ever been. Does not mean that Wal-Mart (as a whole) needs to lack in customer service. But not limited to just lacking in customer service, the customer service that is awarded is generally rude and very demeaning. There is one customer in particular that I have had a extremely bad experience with multiple times. And has been brought to the attention of Corporation but Rhonda is still working there for some odd reason. Never friendly constantly rude and has called more than one customer a thief allowed in front of other customers while the whole time she was directly in the wrong and ignorant in the situation at hand.

Generally, this location is well stocked and has adequate selection. Layout is a little confusing, but service is good. Bathrooms are well maintained.

As a traveler, not from the US. I've made walmart a staple for food, sleeping, gear,and etc. Never before in 32 states have I met an associate so willing to be "helpful". In Spirit Lake IA. An associate "Parker". Made my day. Parker, you deserve all the accolades and made my trying situation a lot easier. Thank you!

Visiting from out of town. Stopped in to pick up a few things and just wanted to give some kudos to our cashier JJ! Super friendly and very helpful! Also I didn't get her name, but the blond girl working up front was handing out popsicles to kids, fantastic to see! Great customer service all around!

I was in this store not long ago, and heard a manager reprimand an employee. I was disgusted!!! The manager was out right degrading and bullying!! Just a complete jerk!! No one should be talked to like that!! Ever!! In fact I hope that employee gets a lawyer!! I'll be glad to testify!!  If any manager talks to an employee like that, they should be fired on the spot!! I'll do my shopping in Spencer from now on!!!! I hope that sweet girl quits!!! Terrible!!! I'll never shop here again!!!!

My sister has a bag of nine house keys after 3 visits and gave up when none of them would fit. First time she took the first 3 with the receipt back because they were way off. No problem. They made the second three from the first three and they said because to big can be cut down still. Second set took them back because they fit but wouldn't turn and unlock so second set went back. Third set of three they made her pay for because she didn't have the receipt that they kept from the first time she took them back. Low and behold they didn't work and she has a bag of nine keys. Happened to me yesterday. Three keys made and you guessed it none of them worked. I took them back and gave them the receipt and told them I wanted my money back
