After years of being treating plantar fasciitis, I have head so many recommendations for so many products. My PT therapist mentioned Montague & Son The Birkenstock Store located in Herndon and yesterday I finally dropped by. Located close to Lotte Plaza and Fair Oaks Hospital, it’s a small store but packed with Birkenstock sandals and other ancillaries . I was met entering by a young lady (Ceres?)who took her time to help me decide which sandals would fit and what colors were available (none of mine were so went with second best). She was very thorough, up to the point where another young lady who was obviously a close friend stopped by and then I had her divided attention to check-out.

I have my sandals and tried them as directed for an hour first day and the tried the second day. It hurt in the top of my foot and I had  to read the  reviews to find out why it was hurting. Would have been nice to have been told that by my associate.

Not cheap so pay attention in the store. I overheard another associate going deeper into the physical aspects of the sandals so try and see if you can enter, walk around and listen in to conversations to see which associate seem to be most knowledgeable.

Hopefully the sandals will break in shortly and I can experience the benefit.

Best Birkenstock store in DMV area. Special shoutout to Tori Kruse. She not only just showed me the different sandals but also explained the difference between different footbeds, different upper materials and helped me choose the right birkenstock for me. She answered all my questions very patiently. She also helped me choose the right insole for my feet. Explained in detail the difference between L2300 and L2305. Very very impressed with the assistance she provided. Ask for Tori whenever you visit this store and you know you will be in good hands!

Hadn’t been to the store in over a year. It’s been updated, bright, and cheerfully greeted by Pat. I have shopped here for decades and saddened to hear the Montague family has retired and sold the store. It is now owned and managed by another local family as Comfort One Shoes.
Pat Johnson manages this store, knows her products and inventory, and knew exactly what I wanted. She’s personable and extremely helpful.
I’ve never bought shoes on line and never will when the perfect fit is right there in Comfort One Shoes.

I went here after checking Comfort One Shoes on Dominion in McLean. The store in McLean had a limited selection, poorly displayed. The Herndon store was a world apart: very nice selection, not just of Birkenstocks although their selection of those was awesome. Patricia who helped me was great. She knew her products and how to analyze their fit. Yes, their shoes are pricy, but these brands last. I think the prices range from $110 -$300 for boots. I found the perfect comfortable yet stylish shoes for work. Highly recommend and if you have had a less than great experience at Comfort One in other locations, try this one.

Birkenstock of San Diego Stores

I went in  not knowing my right size and was assisted by Lucia who was very sweet and helpful. She helped me through the whole process of finding my birk size and picked out a great color for me. 5 star costumer service!

Caitlyn is a rockstar! My sister and I came in right at opening on a Sunday morning and she was helping guests back to back swiftly and efficiently. We both tried on two rounds of Birks and she knew their stock and sizes off the top of her head. I left the store with a slightly different sandal, but am happy with my purchase.

Went in to get replacement shoes. They did not have them in stock so they said they would order them and they would be in on Monday. I came back four days later which was a Tuesday and they told me that. Oh no they forgot to order them from the other store and they would now place the order and please come back the next Monday.  Just a bummer.

Omg !!! Great Customer  Service by Jess H. I spoke to her on the phone  told her what I wanted Hoka size color etc... I was there within an hour she brought out 3 pairs. I am very fussy about shoes. She informed me I am going to love them. I love them. Like walking on clouds. No pressure to buy. Smiled the whole time helping me. That's the best customer service I have had in a long time. Thank you so much Jess.

Suburbia

It's a bit too small for its own good. Their stock, however, is quite okay. If you're passing by take a look around, maybe?

I have been here several times over the years with my wife. If you are an American, well, this store reminds me a lot of Sears. They have a large variety of clothes and home goods. The love of my life, my wife, loves to look at all the clothes here. She enjoys shopping for herself and for our children and nephew and nieces. I don't buy clothes here because they don't carry larger sizes for real men, over 6' tall and big. I would recommend and we will continue to return here every so often.

It turns out that after paying, in Suburbia, she asks me for my bag to put the clothes in, and when bagging, the employee never put away my blouse that she planned to wear for the new year.

I go back and they show me the video where I check if I keep it, but it turns out that the employee in front of the camera covers the bag and also opens a drawer.

The truth is that this will not stay like this, a complaint in Profeco and on their page.

Jo's Comfort Zone

Jo did a good job for getting  my husband  into new shoes  that fit better than  the one's he was wearing. She is a very caring and professional person.  Thanks Lynda W

Jo Ann is beyond amazing, so knowledgeable, pleasant, and kind.   Highly recommend her business!

An amazing place for those who have feet that hurt, and for those who don't want their feet to hurt. The small store is located on the first floor of an apartment building with an outside well labeled entrance.

Jo is a sole proprietor who has studied and knows feet. Her knowledge of shoes, sneakers, boots and feet is amazing. You need to call to make an appointment since it is only her there. If you don't be prepared to wait a while. Then be prepared to spend one to two hours there, depending on your needs. Bring your shoes, and insoles, that are giving you a problem. Jo needs to analyze them along with your pain and concerns.

She has a lot of international shoes, sneakers, boots, etc. in all styles. She can also order some in a different color if wanted. She also sells professional insoles and special socks. She doesn't take insurance and a lot of doctors recommend her for people with foot problems. We found the average shoe cost is about $150 - $200 but well worth it. (Other specialty shoe stores are a lot more expensive and are much less knowledgeable about feet and their products.) They will last many years and when the soles wear out she can resole them for you at a reasonable cost.

We are so happy that our feet, and toes, no longer hurt. In addition, my cronic back condition is doing much better as well! Give her a call to set up a free consultation appointment. Your feet will be glad you did.

I am extremely benefited by Jo’s consultation to select shoes suitable for my feet. This is the only place I buy my shoes from. I highly recommend Jo’s comfort zone if anyone is having any sort of arthritic pain.

I have been a loyal customer for years...and there's a reason for that. Jo is a consummate professional who knows her field like no one else. Her years of experience as well as her amazing rapport with her customers is unparalleled.  It is because she takes the time to listen to each customer, she is able to find the perfect solutions.  I came in recently to ask about the difference between knowing when my sneakers needed to be replaced vs. replacing my orthotics. She listened to me and walked me through everything until we came to the correct solution. My feet have never been happier.

No one helped us at all. Not only us but multiple others there. I tried on about 6 displays and so did my friend. Two girls just chatting it up and one guy that looked lost as hell. Not even a simple hi

Relatively small store. Customer service is great. Hopefully you can find parking around the back. The area is crazy on weekends, especially during the summer. Great area though - close to several restaurants and cafes.

On two occasions walked in wanting to try some Blundstones, hung around for about 5-10 mins each time and was never approached or acknowledged by staff. Won’t go back.

I went in to purchase Sandals and walking shoes on 3/23 1:30 pm
and 2 employees were there.   No one asked if I needed help and no greeting was given to us.  The employees greeted the couple after us.  But didn’t say a word to me.    Made me feel very uncomfortable
After walking around the whole store.  Still no one greeted us or asked if we needed any help.

Purchased a pair of $90 sandals at this store. After bringing them home and wearing them for 10 minutes, blisters formed so I stopped wearing them. I brought the sandals back to this store the next week to exchange them or get a refund but they wouldn’t do either because I had worn them outside.

DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse

Great place for a good pair of shoes, not a huge men's selection, but a good selection of quality shoes for men, women's selection is pretty huge.

Friendly staff, always ready the help and find the right size of shoes. Selection and prices are great, 90% of time I find something I am looking for. However for work out shoes I prefer other stores than dsw. Since vegan leather and vegan lifestyle is is style they should have larger selection and clean labeling for people who looking for non leather items.

The staff was very helpful, but make sure you do some price checking.  Found a couple of deals, but most items were cheaper elsewhere.  A couple of deals is a win to me! Just go in ready to price check.

The store manager Allana made my whole experience at DSW a great and enjoyable one. I had a very complicated return and I was already anticipating that I would have to do a lot of convincing, explaining and proving things to the person handling my return. But anxiety didn’t amount to anything. I explained the situation to Allana. She listened intently and immediately identified a solution that addressed my concern. The whole exchange took less than 4 min and by the end of it I was so happy and relieved. Thank you Allana!

Been looking for a place that has shoes that fit me and my 13 1/2 shoe size but sometime 14 when a small fit. I have finally found a place that sells half sizes. Thank God. Its been a struggle being 6'5 trying to buy the shoes i want. At this place ive found only a few shoes I like or wanted and having half sizes makes me very happy!

Got some shoes to destroy for running for now. They run a little smaller for 13 1/2 so had to get the 14s that fit perfect.

My girls and I make it a habit to stop in to this awesome family owned store every time we are in San Diego ever since we discovered it on vacation a few years ago. Once again, we were not disappointed this time when we visited. Everyone is always so warm and inviting and really makes you feel like you’re part of the family. No pressure, like shopping with friends. Tons of great shoes and beautiful leather bags. The new location is great. We even picked up a few sale items at their old location a block away! Our little SD shopping tradition.

Phenomenal customer service. Jesse's the man! Thoroughly explained everything to me, helped me place my order over the phone, and shipped the shoes out to me same day. He even offered to text photo of the shoe comparisons I was considering so I didn't have to drive down to their store. Amazing service! I wish all companies took care of their customers this way!

We ran across this store last year when we were in town for the San Diego Rock & Roll Marathon, and wow!!!! The selection is fantastic, as is their professional staff, including Jesse! The best experience. So this year, I ordered 3 pairs of shoes for my girls from Sole Concepts and had the pleasure of working with Jesse, and it was absolutely fantastic.

Love this store and their great selection of styles and colors! Both Rebecca and Jesse were kind, knowledgeable about our specific concerns, and super helpful. We purchased 2 pairs of shoes and some soft fluffy socks, but will be back for more! :)

We were shopping in the store today and had to give a big thank you to Jesse for going over and above while we shopped today! He provided excellent service, knowledge and is very friendly. My boyfriend and I love our new new On Cloud and Pikolino shoes and we will be back!
