British Swim School at Centre Club - Libertyville

I had a very disappointing experience with British Sim School, Libertyville. We enrolled at Libertyville location, then they moved us to Vernon Hills.  The most significant issue was the severe lack of staff, which resulted in constant class cancellations at the last minute. This was incredibly frustrating as it disrupted our schedule and left us with no alternative plans for our child's education.

Moreover, the water facilities at the school was cold water that was uncomfortable for the children during swimming lessons. Many of the young children ended up crying due to the discomfort, and it was evident that the school did not prioritize the comfort and well-being of its students.

Another major concern was the frequent changing of instructors. It seemed like they kept rotating instructors with the same level of expertise, ( lack of teachers and expertise to handle uncomfortable child) which made my child feel uncomfortable and unsettled in the learning environment. Consistency and stability in teaching are crucial for a child's development, but unfortunately, this school failed to provide that.

Overall, my experience with British Sim School was extremely unsatisfactory. I would not recommend this school to anyone due to its lack of staff, last-minute class cancellations, uncomfortable swimming conditions, and constant changing of instructors. It was a disorganized and unsettling environment for my child's education

The staff and instructors are truly wonderful. A huge shoutout to Skylar, Michelle, Jackie, Victoria and Ian. Definitely recommend British Swim School for both adults and kids.

We have our toddler enrolled and she was less than thrilled to start but Skylar has been truly wonderful!  Our daughter was crying at the pool and now she is walking up to the pool and ready to get in and that is thanks to Skylar.  Not only is our daughter happier with the pool she is learning some great starter skills.  Highly recommend British Swim School with Skylar as an instructor.

I learned to swim freestyle and backstroke in only three months! I couldn’t even float before. This is where you should go if you don’t know how. I strongly recommend it.

Great swim school! Skyler is the best instructor, she is so patient and understanding and makes lessons fun. Especially having a toddler who may or may not listen, she takes her time and makes sure her students are comfortable. We have learned so much here

British Swim School

Horrible experience. I will never reccomend this school to anyone. RUN! RUN! RUN! from this place. Katrina is a horrible human being, she is a wolf in sheeps clothing. The monthly reoccuring charges never stop because they never pick up their phone, so there is no way to cancel. If you do try to cancel, she will just try to spin you around and lie to you.

School of Rock

I absolutely love the vibes here, give you a sense of home and comfort. the staff are patient, kind, sweet and knowledgeable. this school reminded me of my home school back in Austin Texas, would highly recommend taking your kid with talent to become a great musician here!

Love School of Rock! The approach of mixing individual lessons with a band of peers and actual performances is perfect for learning and staying motivated. The instructors are great, and the bands have a chance to play venues all over the area. We have been with the school since they opened a few years ago. Our son has moved from guitar and bass to drums, and had a great experience with each instrument. The staff is responsive and friendly, the kids have developed real friendships, and they are playing great music (no hot cross buns played on repeat at this school).

My son is shy but they have managed to make him feel comfortable singing his heart out. He loves music and we feel whether it’s as a music teacher or singing in some capacity we’re hopeful that the school of rock gives him the confidence and foundation to pursue music.
He is hyper and all over the place but music gives him something to focus on! We couldn’t be happier with the school. They genuinely care about their students!

Great staff and instructors for my bass player kiddo!  Weekly online feedback/assignments from the instructors is awesome.  The owners are super nice as well.

Awesome place to learn and better yourself as a musician! Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and great at inspiring the students to learn music! The School of Rock method is streamlined through professional means to keep that consistency with the successful franchise. The location is very clean, easy to navigate, decor is elevated all around and COVID-19 precautions were in place when it was needed most, still optionable I believe at request. Learning music can inspire confidence for somebody of any age, it's invaluable and although it could be very tough to learn instruments it can be very fufilling, very good for the brain as well! I myself have taken lessons in the past from private teachers all the way through college level classes and having the system in place is highly effective, curtailed to modern technology like apps. Pricing is  reasonable, the skills for life are worth unpinching any penny. What would I change? Perhaps building a small stage to lift drums off floor in band rooms, T.V in the back lobby, more soundproofing including foam, diffusion and although this is more of a franchise suggestion, adding music studio/production/recording elements to the mix! Also, more raises for the drum teachers!! Great location!

Kiddie Academy of Park Ridge

Incredible teachers  - passionate and dedicated and wonderful directors! My 2 and 4 year old love going to school! There is a great sense of community with other families and a great curriculum. Highly recommended.

We feel completely comfortable dropping off our child, knowing that he is well cared for, learning and exploring new things, all while having fun.

Seriously the best staff & music program for all ages! My daughter absolutely loves school of rock!  She looks forward to every session and is inspired by them. School of Rock staff are friendly, knowledgable, & they care.  They are flexible and accommodating.  The performances are also amazing.  As a parent, you can visually see the work that has been put in.  You can't ask for anything more!

Best thing that ever happened for our child!  Highly recommended. They have a great staff that are welcoming and accepting of all people. Our child has been attending for 3 years now and who knows how much better they'd be by now had they started there sooner.  We are not from Oak Park, we reside in Chicago and the group of musicians there have taken our child in and made them feel at home. They have great friendships that formed at the school.

It’s been over 3 years since our daughter joined School of Rock.  Along with voice, piano, guitar lessons, it’s been awesome to see our daughter flourish.  Her confidence and ability to socialize with people have been values added. The teachers are so talented and have the heart of gold.  In addition, I’ve been taking adult voice lessons and participate in the adult band for the past 1yr 1/2. It’s been a lot of fun getting to know fellow band members while enjoying singing. It’s such a mental therapy... a happy place!

We LOVE School of Rock Highwood. The teachers and staff go above and beyond to make sure my kids have the best experience each week. They have grown so much over the past few years and we love hearing them play with their bands. We love that they have the opportunity to learn their own instrument with amazing teachers and also work with a group each week during band practice. Highly recommend School of Rock Highwood for kids all all ages!

I love that my kids are learning music in a way that is fun for them and that they’re able to perform for others so quickly. Not only are they benefiting from the musical education, they’re developing the courage and poise necessary to perform on stage. Also, they love interacting with their bandmates and teachers, and they feel very much a part of a team. They are motivated to do their best learning and performing their songs so they don’t let their teammates down. They have tried other music programs before, but the School of Rock way has by far been the best.

The School of Rock program is approachable and suitable for people with a variety of different learning styles. The music selections rock, and the instructors are all active in their fields, and know how to talk to kids without talking down to them.
The performance program has been a confidence boost for both of my teens.

Excellent program with many opportunities for the students. Great instructors! My daughter has been blessed to have Jeff for her drum teacher. He is kind, knowledgeable in many instruments and has a great and patient way of teaching children. He makes learning fun!

School of Rock Germantown isn't just a corporate franchise with some vague purpose of playing music.  It's run by great people, and they have a very specific purpose: to teach your kid how to rock.  You'll get to know people like Ken (the owner), Kris (show director), Jeff (house band director), and many more who love music and are passionate about sharing it.  These people will take your child's natural talent and focus it like a laser on becoming a great musician.  A musician with talent and stage presence.

There is a long list of things that make playing live music difficult.  You have to get a band together, book gigs, find a place to practice, etc.  As an aside, try finding a parent that has the space and the patience to allow a big rock band to practice in their house.  Once you find that parent you have to find neighbors that like it as well because it is LOUD  :)   That is all taken care of by School of Rock.  All your kid has to do is play.  In a way it's just like sports, all you have to do is practice and play, the league sets up everything else.  It's perfect because all of your kids energy is directed toward music, not logistics.

Our son started off in the regular shows, then auditioned for the House Band.  He made the cut and got a tremendous amount of experience playing in front of live crowds at places like BB Kings, Club 152, Miglewood Hall, and the Hard Rock Cafe among many others.  He then went on the summer tour where he and his house band friends shredded in front of crowds all up and down the Mississippi River.  They played gigs in St. Louis, Chicago, and even the worlds largest music festival: Summer Fest in Milwaukee (headlined by bands like Tom Petty and the Red Hot Chili Peppers).  It was an AMAZING run for those kids to play so much and for such a wide variety of audiences.

I can tell you that School of Rock Germantown is a big part of my kids life, he will forever remember it as a tremendously fun period of time where learned and played, made a bunch of great friends, and also gained a deep base of experience in playing live music that he'll retain forever.

If your kid wants to play, this is an AWESOME outlet for his or her musical energy and curiosity.  Some kids will even discover an inner "rock monster".   If that's the case, hang on tight because you could be in for a wildly fun ride that will see your kid playing in front of thousands of people and touring the country this summer.  The only limit is how bad the kid wants it.  If your kid loves music and practices like a madman, then his success is guaranteed.

My kid is eighteen now and moving on to college.  They played to a packed house at Neils last night and I kid you not, when my kid came off stage last night he had ladies I've never seen hugging him.  THAT my friends, is confirmation that you've attained rock star status.

My 14yo daughter has been taking voice and keyboard lessons at School of Rock in Germantown and absolutely loves it!  She looks forward to every lesson.  Everyone from their manager, Savoya, to her teacher, Sara, and all the students she has gotten to know...it has become more like a second family.  She is growing in confidence in her abilities because of their support and encouragement.  And, as a parent, I appreciate the feedback that is emailed after each session.

My daughter is participating in her first concert in Sept.  The kids get first-hand experience at actually performing, and aren't confined to simply learning from or performing for their instructor.  We LOVE School of Rock!

British Swim School at Skokie

We love the British Swim School! The instructors are amazing and so patient with the little ones! The Skokie location is great and they have two showers for after swim. The parking can be a tiny bit difficult some days, but totally worth the occasional slight inconvenience.

Swim instructors at the Skokie location are highly-skilled and very patient. Nick and Kaitlyn are very supportive of one’s ability and comfort in the water and they both tailor their teaching strategies to meet the needs of the individual student.

Skokie location has a Great and friendly staff and atmosphere, my son learned a lot, we enjoyed coming here,
We highly recommend it.

The swim coaches and deck managers all know what they're doing and are super accommodating.  my 2yo can jump in a pool, roll over and float! I actually drive an hour every week to come to this location and an happy to do it!

(Update) - my 2yo is now going on 4 and can actually SWIM!  freestyle and backstroke. learning side breathing now for some kind of sideways swim strike i don't even know how to do lol

(Update) My oldest is now 5 and working on swimming to the bottom of the pool, and perfecting individual strokes. Also since my last update, we had baby#2! She's graduated to the second level and is working on floating on her own.

I am amazed at the progress my kids have made since joining! After years of attempting to teach the same skills at home, British swim school moved them beyond what I had hoped in just a few months. I especially enjoy the small class format, and how the desired skills are clearly laid out at each level. Teachers are fun, kind and patient as well.

Fit City Kids

We had the best two-hour party!

Only my wife and I were trying to figure out how to deal with more than 30 people at our first party in places like it, but the crew from Fit City Kids did a fantastic job helping us set the room up, hosting, and even helping to clean up.

From the manager to the awesome crew, from the reception to our helpers, I have no words to say, but thank you so much for giving my daughter the best party and for us to enjoy it.

Good on you guys!

We have thrown two birthday parties at Fit City Kids and absolutely love that we can rent out the facility completely and also have the flexibility to bring in our own food and drinks (including adult beverages!).  The staff is so helpful. They're complete professionals since set up time between parties can be tight - they sprang into action laying out tablecloths, cutting/passing out cake, rounding up the kids for pizza and finally packing presents and party supplies. Everything was flawless!

My 7 year old and 5 year old boys were also more than happy to show off the skills they’ve picked up in their basketball classes at Fit City with Coach Aaron and Coach Brad!  The coaches are super fun, motivating, supportive and engaging.  Coach Aaron has such a great inclusive teaching style and is amazing with kids and pushes them without pressuring them. Both of my kids are genuinely enjoying learning the fundamentals of basketball at Fit City! Highly recommend taking a trial class!

What an amazing place to celebrate. The owners have done an amazing job recruiting an incredible crew and team of helpful, polite, diligent and proactive people that make the celebrations and set up easy. It’s a tight schedule and their help is a blessing. They are on top of everything. Communicating and helping with the party plan.
The establishment is amazing, I got many compliments on the place, the people and the equipment.
What a great place this is to celebrate. Worth every penny, something for all ages where families with multiple children can enjoy at ease their kids having fun play.

We love Fit City Kids! Our kids come here often to burn energy. The facilities are always super clean and not too crowded, and there's enough variety to keep our kids entertained every time we come. We also recently hosted a birthday party here and it was a great, smooth experience. Staff was very available to help with anything and everything, and the kids had a blast. Thank you Fit City Kids! We love having you in the neighborhood.

We recently hosted our daughter's 5th birthday party at Fit City Kids and I cannot recommend this place enough! Booking online was easy and straightforward, and Brad and Kiersten were very communicative throughout the entire process. On the day of the party, the entire staff was attentive and super helpful. They even provided us with tablecloths once I realized we had forgotten about them. We had 34 total guests and the adjoining party rooms provided plenty of space. And unlike some kid-friendly venues, this place allows you to bring alcohol, which was a huge plus :)
