One of the best decisions I ever made was joining Boot Camp Fitness KC over 7 years ago.  I enjoy the camaraderie of the class structure, the constant challenges in the workout routines and the focus on proper form and conditioning.  No matter what your fitness level, age or your goals, there is a starting place for you here.

The coaches are amazing, they truly care and push you to do your best.  Regardless of how tough the workout was, even if I did not do as well as I would have liked, I leave the class with a feeling of accomplishment.  Their coaching goes outside the gym as well, with seminars and communications on everything surrounding a healthy lifestyle.

BCF is more than a gym, it is a community of likeminded people that are fun, inspiring and intense.  I would not hesitate recommending Boot Camp Fitness.

I joined BCF about 4 months ago and I was sort of intimidated because I was out of shape and asthmatic. Coaches Marcus and Jacob made me feel very comfortable and before I knew it BFC became a part of my daily routine.

Everyone I met here, staff or member, is friendly and encouraging. I have worked with 5 different coaches so far and its easy working with them because they understand everyone is at a different level of fitness with different goals.

Its good to have a different workout everyday and the coaches explain and demo the entire routine before we start. The group size varies (1 to 10) but I have never felt like the coach wasn’t attentive towards my form or technique.

With all the help from people here, I have lost 11 pounds and I feel my muscles growing stronger, stamina increasing and my breathing better managed. Doing something good for your body is always better than doing nothing. So I may be slow but I’m definitely headed towards  my goal!

You will fall in love with bootcamp fitness KC! There are great coaches, they motivate and push you to do the very best. When I started I was a bit intimidated since I was completely out of shape. The fact that i was able to walk into a very welcoming group of people made my experience so much more worth it. If you have the slightest bit of interest the way I did, just do it ! You won’t regret it I promise.

I have looped in and out of those "big-box" gyms and paid for monthly contracts that I rarely used. This gym, their work-out structure, class environment and fantastic coaching staff make it incomparable to other fitness options.  It's not easy but it's not supposed to be.  Fun and very rewarding.  Morning and afternoon times to accommodate your Workout Of the Day.

I love BOOTCAMP FITNESS! The coaches truly care about the well-being of their clients. The team is knowledgeable, helpful and supportive.You'll find all fitness levels here, so don't let "BootCamp" scare you...this is the best gift you can give yourself.

StretchLab

Everyone there is very flexible with my work hours. Erin opening up on Sundays when no one else was scheduled really helpped me out to get ready for the work week

StretchLab has really helped increase my range of motion and decrease hip and knee pain. Additionally, they have great staff and are helpful in showing you stretches to do at home to continue your progress.

If you are looking for a place more interested in taking your money than working towards your wellness, this is for you. However, I recommend you avoid this establishment if you’re looking for honesty and support in managing illness.

I have been having lower back and hip pain for years. Consistent stretching with the help of the flexologist have helped so much!

I have more range of motion than I have had in years!

Stretch Zone

I came to Stretch Zone due to an injury and have been stretched twice a week for the past three months. Not only did my pain resolve, I feel stronger and more flexible in my entire body! I have loved working with each staff member and have gotten excellent support for my ongoing health, no matter who has done the stretches. I highly recommend this investment in your own well-being!

Stretch Zone has helped relieve my back pain and improved my flexibility. The location in Corinth square is great. Jaylene & Steph are always positive and encouraging of my improvement. They support my success and have great recommendations for at home sessions to continue on my health journey.

Found a deal for a free demo stretch and after my first appointment I knew I had to keep coming back. Elizabeth is amazing and cares a lot about helping me overcome my chronic pain condition. I’m excited to keep making progress.

It is an understatement to say that I have had an amazing experience with Stretch Zone and that is 100% because of Jaylene.  I have constantly had back and hip issues and she has helped me overcome those.  I have been a Stretch Zone client for over a year now and a repeat customer BECAUSE of Jaylene. I have been dealing with low back pain and limited mobility for about 4 years now, I've tried everything and spent thousands of dollars on shoes, lumbar belts, inserts, name it I have done it, the results have been the same, but on the first day of my free session, I walked out there feeling way better than when I entered, and could tell the difference, It is amazing, almost like to good to be true, but it works, so happy I took the chance. Aplomb Martial Arts Prairie Village

This is the first martial arts school our seven-year-old tried and he loves it. Sensei Emily is great with the kiddos.

The classes include martial arts training, but also help kids develop coordination, core strength, and problem solving.

We definitely recommend signing up for the free course to see if your kiddo likes it.

A good place to build confidence in young kids!  The fact that it is conveniently located in the mall setting is a plus for parent to do nails, groceries shopping, or haircut while waiting for the class to end.

if you are looking for the serious self defense, this is not the place.

My two children have been doing Kempo here for almost a year and they love it! I love the self control and perseverance they have gained. It's a great program and Sensei Emily is wonderful with my kids!

So thoughtful to all students, down to earth, willing to break down the fundamentals for the kids.  I nanny a student and he looks forward to Thursday to come learn! Emily is awesome to Bobby! I recommend Kempo to everyone I know.

My son has been attending classes, and private lessons, at USSD - Prairie Village for some time now.  The instructors are all very knowledgeable, caring, attentive, great at working with children, and find a good balance between learning and having fun.  My son has gained a lot of confidence through these classes, and takes a lot of pride in progressing.  Classes are typically small enough that there is a lot of one on one attention, large enough that there are opportunities to work with others and make friends.  Would definitely recommend this for parents who are looking to give their children a positive ongoing experience with martial arts.

Kansas City & greater area is so lucky to have a place to practice karate like Kansas City Shotokan Karate dojo. A great group of loving, caring Karate leaders and community that I have the honor to learn from and practice with in special trainings for more than a decade.

As soon as you step through the doors to the Dojo, you can't help but feel connected to the rich history of Shotokan Karate, from its inception in Okinawa, it's popularization in Japan, to it's spread to the United States.

The Dojo itself feels like a contemporary interpretation of what I would expect a traditional school to feel like - from the beautiful wood floors and exposed brick to the row of Makiwara to use for striking and conditioning.  It is neither gaudy nor flashy and instead evokes a sense of Wabi (beauty through simplicity.)

The classes are taught in a traditional way - with an emphasis on mastering basics, learning and perfecting kata and learning how to apply the techniques in self-defense and sparring.  Classes are of mixed rank with white, brown and black belts all training together with the black-belts always ready to jump in and help the lower ranks learn and improve.

The instructors are amazing - knowledgeable, affable and (probably the most important part) patient.  They take the time to explain techniques, answer questions and help each individual student.

This is a more Budo Dojo than a Sport Karate Dojo, and as such, it focuses on both the physical and philosophical aspects of Karate, so if you're looking to improve your mind, body and spirit while learning an amazing martial art, this is the place.

Karate changed my life, and this dojo was like a second home to me. The teaching is of the highest caliber. You will learn discipline, focus, and how to push yourself beyond your perceived limits. The added bonus is, some of my closest and dearest friendships were forged here making hard and honest practice together. Oh, I forgot to mention, I met my wife here! Seriously, this is traditional karate at its best.

There are very few true traditional Karate dojos left anymore. That is why Kansas City Shotokan Karate Club is a gem. A place of spiritual calm in the midst of the city’s bustling Crossroads District. In the past few decades there has a been a decline in traditional martial arts with the rise of UFC and other MMA promotions. With most gyms and studios eschewing the values of self-betterment passed down from it’s original teachers in favor of effectiveness in a sports competition setting. On the other end of the modern martial arts spectrum there are dojos who claim to be traditional but teach an extremely watered down version that place emphasis on flashy techniques rather than effectiveness in combat. The Karate-do taught in this dojo is the karate as guided by Tsutomu Ohshima, one of the last student of Gichin Funakoshi, the founder of Shotokan. Ohshima-sensei in-turn founded Shotokan Karate of America which over the course of decades has established dojos all the US as well as sister-branches in other countries, most prominently in Canada, France, and Israel. To be a member of this dojo in Kansas City is to be part of a global family. There are frequent events held by the organization that members are invited to. And if you ever find yourself traveling to other parts of the country, all you have to do is reach out to the nearest SKA dojo and you will be welcomed with open arms, retaining rank and familiarity of the structure used by all of Ohshima’s students. If you are an old karateka from another organization or even style and you wish to continue your practice with this dojo, your rank will be respected, granted the seniors recognize your current level of skill is on par with that rank. Fairness, strictness and technical standards that are not lowered for any student, new or old. These are what you would be held up to when joining this dojo. That is the tradition.

If you want to be a tournament fighter, this ain't the place. But if you're looking for real-life skills and, more importantly, supreme mental and physical discipline, I can't imagine a better organization to be a part of. I've attended this dojo for almost two years and feel like a new person. The seniors here are utterly invested in teaching and hold their students to high standards. What's more, it is a very welcoming environment where practitioners at all levels may speak freely.

I absolutely love Jessica here!!!! I recommend no one else! She’s amazing and makes the whole establishment. I have set new PR’s in the gym, resolved chronic muscular and alignment issues and Jessica just has the right touch.

I’m nervous these locations may be a franchise that will overlook and not see the shining gems that will make or break a business. Jessica is a star in Physical Therapy. I’ve had seven surgeries and even more recoveries so I tend to have a good feeling when I come across someone so knowledgeable, and intuitively guided - and the thing is SHE GETS RESULTS!  My gait, less to NO pain and feeling better in body than in the longest. Thanks Jess! I give her all the stars and more! StretchLab- be good to this one! We will follow her anywhere!

Had an appointment with Jessica at noon on Wednesday. When I got there the door was locked and no one was inside. I called her but she didn't answer. I finally left at 12:07. I left a message asking her to call to figure out what happened. She still has not returned my call. Avoid this place at all costs!

Got stretched by the General Manager while at a conference in Kansas City. After traveling and sitting in conference sessions for hours this 100% helped me feel more comfortable. Great experience!

Very supportive staff and excellent assisted stretches

I had a fantastic experience at Stretch Lab in Overland Park.   Adrianna did a great job.  I'm 6'2" and thought it would be difficult to stretch me.  She was awesome,  very professional, patient, and calm.  I wanted to take a nap after my session.  I will be back next week for another session.   Thank you to Taylor also.

So glad that I started incorporating the StretchLab into my recovery routine. I always feel so much better after a session. 👉 Adrianna and Jonathan are amazing stretchologist!!

Very professional and patient. Colby did an amazing job of evaluating my stretch needs and working to set a baseline for gauging my improvement with future visits. I will be going back on a regular schedule.

This was my first stretchlab 50 min session.  Adrianna was wonderful to work with.  She made sure I knew about every stretch before she started it.  She listed to my limitations.  Everyone there was so friendly.  I highly recommend this establishment.

I see a big difference the more I come to the Stretch Lab. My muscles are very stiff and in a lot of discomfort on a daily basis. Each visit I feel better and better and notice a big difference in my flexibility. I would recommend to anyone.

Visiting Angels

When my dear mom was placed in hospice, I knew I would need more help. She had lived with my husband and I over three years. She had Alzheimer’s, and was going downhill quickly. I contacted Mr. Clayborn and he came out to do an assessment for mom. I felt confident hiring his agency to provide loving and compassionate care for my mom. Karyn was mom‘s caregiver. She came every day to help me take care of mom. She spoke to her in a sweet voice like she was her own mother. She helped me with the tough jobs and then would give me a break when I needed a few minutes to myself. Karyn was there with me with mom until the very last minute. I’m so grateful for the companionship and the comfort she provided in the last month of mom‘s life.

The only downside is the payment method. They require you to put payment on a credit card and are supposed to wait for you to approve the Invoice before they put it on the credit card. That didn’t always happen with me. You just have to be on top of it.

These people are wonderful to work with. The Angels that came to help my mother-in-law were so caring and went over and above what they needed to do. Carol and Montana were wonderful and Karyn, our most recent Angel is just fantastic. They quickly become like family.

Visiting Angels has been taking care of our Mum for the past year and a half. They have provided caring and compassionate care and we wouldn’t have made it through this time without them!

Being a caregiver for a senior let’s the person stay in their own home comfortably. Getting to listen to stories of their lives and keep up with their care as I wish some of my family members would have had available not to be alone at home or stay in the hospital lonely. I get comfort when I get a smile starting my shift or ending my shift and when they ask when I am back for my next shift. Very comforting employment.

I had such a wonderful time working with Visiting Angels. They are flexible and you get as many or as little hours as you like. I have lots of respect for the purpose of Visiting Angels. My journey as a caregiver is one I will never forget. Thank you Dan and Felecia for the opportunity.

BODYBAR Pilates - Downtown Kansas City

Joined BodyBar Pilates KC 7 months ago because I was dealing with back pain for several years and heard Pilates was good for improving core muscles and decrease back pain.
After several classes my back pain started to go away and after almost 100 classes I continue to improve posture and core stability pain free.
The trainers make sure we are doing the right movements, with correct posture, guiding us and providing alternative moves if needed.
My mom visited from Argentina and decided to take some pilates classes, she doesn't speak any english, so she felt uncomfortable at first and after meeting the staff she felt welcomed and had a great time. The trainers made sure she understood the exercises and guided her when needed. Veronica & Kortney Thanks.

Overall: great parking, place is clean, staff is super friendly, trainers are awesome, variety of classes from classic to intense.

I came in for a trial class and loved this studio- it has a parking lot in front which is nice for convenience downtown. The studio itself is very clean, & I loved the motivational sayings on the wall. The staff was friendly and luckily they weren’t pushy like other gyms I’ve tried.

The only downside for me, my hearing is a little bad and the microphone the instructors use was difficult for me to hear at times.

So glad a friend brought me in to try my first class free, because I am full blown addicted!!! It’s a beautiful sparkling clean studio, ample parking in the lot, every single person that works there is super kind and welcoming, and most of all I feel incredible after a class. The instructors are really great about demonstrating how the machines work, explaining exercises, and offering adjustments to make things easier or more challenging depending on your needs and so you don’t feel intimidated. I love how inclusive it is and such an incredible workout that gives results for every body type. The offer different membership options from drop in classes up to unlimited and the app is super easy to find and book classes (and I love that I can add it to my personal calendar). They have well-stocked bathrooms and tons of cute clothes in case you ever need anything. Plus, I love supporting a local woman-owned business!

10/10 recommend coming to Bodybar, if I could give a 6th star I would!
Coming from a lifting background, I was always under the impression that Pilates wasn’t going to be a good enough workout, after one workout my perspective drastically changed. I have now been coming to the studio for about 6 months now and I absolutely love not only the classes but the incredible team that works here. Truly, the only downside to coming to this studio for me is that none of my clothes fit anymore! If you commit yourself you will absolutely see and feel the results!

BODYBAR Pilates has become my second home. Talk about a great studio, phenomenal instructors and amazing classes. The studio is so clean and all classes offer something different. Try the new power tower class if you get the chance, such a great addition to the other reformer classes offered. You won’t be disappointed at the at the “BAR!”

Pretty nice selection of good products. The cashier seemed to have a working knowledge of what was being sold. I'd have given them a 5 had he not roped me into a monthly "Routines" membership that not only costs money every month but sends me stuff. No real, up front explanation that I was being signed up for it or nothing, very not kosher for me.  Probably had better encourage your employees to be more honest in their dealing, not snakey. Honestly, I won't go back to that store. Otherwise the store and it's selection of products and price would be worthy of repeat business.

I don’t typically review places - but my experience here was honestly fantastic. Aaron worked with me and I felt like I was shopping with a friend. I asked questions (I’m very much a beginner when it comes to supplements) and he was very kind and helped SO much! Such a sweet guy!

Staff was very helpful& knowledgeable about products in the store. Answered our question an explained differences in certain products as well as primary use for them. We were at the Westport area store an Austin is a great guy. We will be repeat customers!

These are my guys! They know their products very well. I've been able to get into a groove of catching things that are on clearance there and that's been great. They'll take time to answer your questions about products or find products that meet your needs as long as they aren't too busy. Most recently I was able to stock up on OrganIQ vegan protein powder that was on clearance and over the course of the next few months I will have saved a lot of money buying on the discounted bulk. I hope the team they currently have stays there for a good while

Very knowledgeable staff!  I come here often, never feeling pressured to buy extra or more than I need.  All of the recommendations I've received from the staff here have been extremely beneficial.
