Great stores for coffee beans.  Open burlap bags build a lot of characteristics, but I have my reservation if the coffee beans lose their fragrance.   Still, this is an old store, and we love the old New York feel to it.

The best place to get your fresh coffee beans. Brewing these beans give an amazing aroma, and a perk-up feeling in the morning! One of my fave place in the city.

Live in the neighborhood and first time here. I came in on Saturday, December 23rd at 11:45am. There was a small line and once I got to the register, a young woman helped me. I told her I was looking for a holiday gift and asked her to pick any popular bean for me. I asked if she could put it in one of those boxes I saw gift wrapped by the window and she said it was a preset box. I asked two more questions about it and decided to get it but her demeanor was very cold and standoffish and the whole interaction felt like I was the one inconveniencing her and she seemed visibly annoyed with me and slightly condescending. I bought it anyway and of course no thank you or smile or any words from her at the end of it. Actually I was the one to say thank you to her. Probably won’t come back and staff need to be friendlier to customers or at least at baseline not rude.

An Unfortunate sign of the times. The Brooklyn store was closed, and I recently stopped to buy a couple of pounds of their Brazil Roast, but when I went to pay, I saw it was now $16.00 a pound.  As a 30+ year customer, I'm disgusted at the raging price increases, and most without any other reason than GREED.  What I loved about supporting Porto Rico was that it is a local roaster and not a corporate Starbucks nonsense.

As a business owner, I'm cognizant of increasing operational expenses.  However, what is the Return on Investment when customers are kept away by inconvenience and pricing? Or has the business reached the point of diminishing returns?

Unfortunately,  I can no longer support Porto Rico as Driving to the other island to buy beans is not cost-effective.

$34 for two pounds of beans is unacceptable.

I've been to Porto Rico Importing on the east village 3 times.
The first one was just fine, I got the daily brew and was quick and somewhat easy.
The other two experiences were very similar and very disappointing. The staff sounded rude to me and didn't really seem to care at all about my business. I felt I was doing them a favor.
With so many offerings of good coffee in the EV (LA Cabra is right around the corner) I'd just get beans somewhere else.
And, honestly, their coffee isn't even that good, they just have a large selection. I did not dare to ask the roast date so you might even be buying stale coffee.

Took the subway all the way there, got to the right address and the doorman said they don’t exist 😳

After trying all the big name coffee brands from NY to Seattle and other smaller brands advertised by "coffee experts," I have finally found the place I LOVE and TRUST with quality and taste!!! It's been a 7+ yrs of journey and I now only order from Porto Rico Importing Co. My family's accidental visit to the store ended up being the best gift ever! Fast & Accurate delivery, check!  Freshly grounded tasteful quality coffee, check! Thank you!!

Located inside the great old school market of Essex Street is this gem of a coffee place. Very nice style and a friendly guys brewing one of the best coffees i've had in New York. The combination of the location and the excellent roasted coffee, makes this one of my favourite coffee take away places.

Another outpost of this outstanding coffee purveyor, it’s located inside Essex market. My favorite is the Ethiopian yirgacheffe. Unlike other third wave coffee spots, they sell a pound of quality beans for under $15, unlike their competitors who charge $16+ for 12 oz. They also sell cups of coffee for under $2 and iced coffee for $2.50. Why would you go anywhere else?

The rudeness of the staff at this location is almost comical, especially regarding the lady working there. If you care about service in any aspect, stay away. Their coffee is also mediocre at best. I will not be back.

Coffee beans from all over the world! They even added cardamom to the Yemeni coffee I was interested in! Their fresh coffee needs an upgrade; made a filter change…

Paris Baguette

Right at the center of the Fort Lee welcome sign, Paris Baguette is a classic bakery shop that will bring out the freshness in French. From over 100s of breads to choose from, Paris Baguette gives a voluminous amount of choices ranging from baguettes (of course) to croissants to even pastries like custom themed cakes and coffee. Iced, or hot, you can choose which kind of coffee is right for you. Here, all of the breads are prepared and assiduously stored in such a way to optimize freshness sustainability. New breads are made everyday and served with love.  As for the cold drinks, they have sparkling water, organic whole milk, and juices of common varieties as shown in the picture below. Their store layout is quite the entrepreneurial one as well. You go inside and go through an all you can eat buffet of bakery treats using a tonsil and tray laying out your favorite breakfast munchies in front of you, and after you are done, you make your way over to the register to pay and if taking it to go, they will box it into their very own custom made delicate blue boxes which definitely sure put a smile on my face. Much recommend to stop by if ever in the Fort Lee area, and will be returning again for even more authentic French breakfast cuisine.

I loved it! I came here with friends and I have to say I love this location more then the other one in fort lee. The place is cute and tiny and the (I’m guessing) manager is so kind. Definitely quiet  and a great spot to get work done or just chill at. The best hot chocolate I’ve ever had!

Omg! I’m so in love with their deserts and cakes! So fresh and light, creamy and fruity!
If you like a good quality and delicious light cakes just order them from here. Prices compare same as with Whole Foods in my opinion.

I usually enjoy blueberry bakery stuffs but this piece of cake doesn’t disappoint me. Sweet and soft inside my mouth !

Tbh, the coffee is quite expensive comparing to the quality.

Smaller Paris Baguette that has a decent selection of breads and cakes but not the full range you would normally get. Workers were very friendly and accommodating. The store could have been a bit cleaner.

Purchased a birthday cake (Mango coconut) and it had mold (my kids claim they saw worm(s) on the fruit. i live in town and refrigerated the cake in 10mins. Quite a disappointing birthday dinner celebration  to say the least. Horrible quality control. Brought the cake back the next day  and i don’t even recall an apology from the manager. he just offered  a replacement cake like nothing happened. check your cakes  before you leave the store.

The lower rating is due to their service, not because of their food.

This Paris Baguette is quite large, with nice high ceiling to make the space even bigger. The corner walls were covered with windows, from floor to ceiling, bringing in lots and lots of natural lights. They have several different table seating of all sizes. Good for single visitor or group of people.

They offer cakes, bread, pastries, and sandwiches. As for the cakes, you can either buy the whole cake, or individual slices. They are pretty darn good, and they all look really nice, beautifully made. Bread and pastries are in different window showcase, on the right side of the registry. They are long, and holds good varieties of items. They have both sweet and savory, whatever your craving calls for.

We were there for a little afternoon sweets, so we ordered a couple of desserts and teas. The first cake of our choice was Green Tea Fresh Cream Cake. It was pretty good, nice size, and very tasty. The sponge was fluffy with good green tea flavor, cream was velvety without being thick or overly sweet. The second choice was Lemon Blueberry Mini Tart. This one was a bit smaller than the Green Tea cake, but I assume it requires more labor since the price is higher. It has layers of all the ingredients, starting from the tart, green tea sponge, blueberry compote (?) in the middle, fresh cream and custard cream. The tart shell was rather hard, and with the fragile top, it was not the easiest thing to eat. It was still very tasty.

Now, the drinks… My husband ordered Iced Green Tea Latte and I “tried” to order Iced Taro Bubble Tea. The cashier told me that they ran our of taro tea. So, I asked if they still have Ice Milk Bubble Tea. He said “yeah yeah” in not-so-polite way. I put in an order for Iced Milk Bubble Tea. While they were making our teas, we sat and waited with our cakes. The iced green tea came out in a couple of minutes. Then, I was called by the staffs, and they told me that they ran out of bubbles…seriously??? I was going to put in a different order, but then they acted like they don’t know how to void transaction… So, I had to order something with the same price.

The service is just a-ok, not so great. Whenever there are just young people working without much of management figure, I feel like the quality of service suffers. The desserts are good as always. I would hope that they will keep the bubbles well stocked, so that they don’t ran out of them so early in the day (it was early in the afternoon)… Read my full review of the cafe and food on my food blog, foodlovergirl.

I absolutely love Paris Baguette in Fort Lee. From the moment you walk in the atmosphere, the service and the food is absolutely amazing. They have a wise variety of sweet treats but also they have great sandwiches and salads too. I love both locations in Hudson Lights as well as on Lemoine Avenue. They each have their own unique atmosphere and like I said again the service is amazing. Everybody makes you feel welcome. I will go again and again, and I will definitely tell others. It is definitely worth the trip.

If you are a pastry lover as I am, maybe this place is a good fit for you, not only for the variety of pastries, cakes or the even the coffee bar, but also the atmosphere and the design of the store: good indoor lighting, comfy space between tables and careful/clean service.

This time we tried the cheese&ham baguette, a ham sandwich and three different pastries. The flavor was unique, we enjoyed the texture of these sweets bites. I recommend the Paris Baguette store; if you are near at the area and want something to eat, make a stop at this place.

Nice style, good price, lovely taste and many options.

Uptown Poké

I usually only order delivery, this was my first time coming for dine in. The food is always delicious (dine in or delivery) however I was really impressed by the speed of the food coming out when I did dine in. The staff was extremely friendly, the seating is great, and it’s the perfect place to decompress for a lunch break. 10/10 would recommend.

Wonderful!  Even better than the poke I tried in Hawaii last month.  I had the Uptown Bowl, it was fresh and delicious and full of tasty goodies. It's mostly a takeout place but there are a couple of nice little tables and a counter by the window to watch the world go by on Amsterdam.

This has been our Friday wfh short walk lunch place.  I really enjoy the Salmon Sunrise, West side and Tuna special.  It is nicely balanced flavor with many a variety of ingredients.  If pre-selected is not your jam, they can completely customize your poke bowl.  They have a nicely decorated sit-in area, seating is limited to 8.

Each build-your-own bowl includes 2 bases, 5 toppings, 1 protein, 2 sauces, and 2 crunchy toppings.

The food was fresh and filling.

The poke was fresh, delicious, and super affordable! I would give poke 5/5 easily, for a tasty bowl and fast friendly service.

Unfortunately this dining room is very small and can only hold ~6-8 guests. It was pretty warm inside which was disappointing, when we were looking for indoor dining on summer day. I wouldn’t get the boba again… the taro didn’t taste great and the boba was tough/hard on the outside.

Wow! I walked past this place hundreds of times, always admiring through the window, the delicious looking pastries they had on display. When I finally walked inside for a cup of coffee and looked closely at all the pastries and danish and cakes, I was shocked at how inexpensive they were priced! I asked if there was a sale on, and was told nope, those are our regular prices. Along with my fantastic cup of coffee , I ended up buying a box full of pastries, a couple of sandwiches on fresh baked bread, and even a couple of croissants.. so I admit, I am not normally a consumer of croissants, and this may be the first time I ever used that word in a sentence. Nevertheless, I can say with absolute confidence the food, desserts, bread, pastries and coffee there are all fresh, delicious and of the highest quality. They are served by a bunch of friendly, smiling staff as good-looking is some of the pastries. They were all priced fairly competitively, if not an outright bargain. For anyone who has not ventured inside one of these stores, I strongly encourage you to do so once, and you'll instantly become a regular as have I. This store,  located on Broadway  btwn West 96 and 97, is so easy to get to, just steps away from the MTA Subway's 1/2/3  96th Street Station, as well as the MTA's M96 and M104 bus stops. Five big, delicious, freshly baked stars. 🍰☕️🥖🧁🥐

I usually get croissants or pastries from them, but decided to try their sandwiches. Bought the turkey avocado and was pleasantly surprised at how fresh it tasted as the bread was still soft. Great place to stop by for a quick breakfast or lunch option.

Loved their coffee! They have a great selection of fresh breads, pastries and cakes! Also we found that in every corner of NYC so it’s easy to spot!

Paris Baguette, my friendliest and most delicious neighbor with my angel manager. I used Paris Baguette's catering delivery service to my child's school and it was perfect.

The best bakery in New York where all the bread is delicious . I love strawberry whipped cream cake and my daughter Diane loves chocolate macaron cake. Thanks for my Angel ( Manager's name is Angel ) Your service is moved me.

The pastries taste delicious here. The low score arises from the filthy eating area at the back of the establishment. We've visited twice, and have yet to see a single staff member do any cleaning, and the floors and sofas exemplify the lack of care. We went to another location midtown and it was spotless, so it appears to be a staffing issue rather than a company ethos.

Also not a fan of the tipping culture here. The patron picks up the pastry and then takes it to the counter to pay. There one is asked for up to 25% tip. I'd be happy to tip 25% if they actually cleaned the place. Check my other reviews, because I usually score high.

ThirsTea

I am from San Jose where there are a lot of great milk tea stores. While I was on a little trip in Santa Rosa, I was hoping to discover a decent boba drink around this area and this place popped up in my search. The store looks cute with indoor decor and a clean restroom. But the drinks were ....a big disappointment. I did not have high hopes for amazing milk tea in this area, but at least it should be decent with the good ratings they have. Unfortunately, the drinks were not even decent, too watery and boba texture and flavors failed as well. :(

Service was decent, not great but not bad for that day.

2 stars for the decoration.

On the way driving from Santa Rosa back to San Jose, we were craving milk tea so we pick this place because it has decent reviews but...

Food: huge disappointment. We order 2 drinks and both were like water-down milk tea and really heavily water-down. They were bland, not much flavor at all. It's like you're drinking water with a little bit of whatever flavor of the milktea is supposed to be. The texture of the bobas was okay but they wasn't sweet. The shop probably didn't "marinade" bobas in sugar long enough. It was $6.5 for a mill tea with boba. At first we thought it was a little bit cheaper than in San Jose because the boba was included but after taking the first sip, it turned out we just bought expensive flavored water.

Service: good. They are not super friendly but not rude. Only interact with them once during ordering.

Ambiance: it's a cute little boba place. I do like the way they decorate the store: pretty, has lots of light, small but spacious. There are not a lot of seatings so it's probably best you take it togo. No seating outside.

Restroom is pretty clean!

I stop here every time I start a long drive or in the middle of one. It's an easy place to get to from the freeway and has delicious food and a simple but delicious selection of boba tea.

Perfect ambiance, great staff, and tucked away enough from the main road that it's comfortable to a break.

I get the oolong and pandan, egg puffs, or Bahn mi!

So this place was difficult to find. I was visiting from Reno, NV and I was looking for a milk tea. When you first drive into the parking lot from Commerce you see a Baskin Robbins to your left, and a Subway to your right. The shop is to the left of the entrance of the Baskin Robbins. Its a small little shop, the employees are so friendly greeting me from the moment I stepped in, and giving me suggestions when I asked them what they'd recommend from their list of milk teas. Together with the tip the total came to about $7.00 for a regular. It wasn't sent busy when I stopped by around 7:00pm, and the wait time counting the time of having my order taken was probably no more than 3minutes.

Remember you can't drive up and park in front of it, you'd park in front of the Baskin Robbins, and then walk to the left of the Baskin Robbins doors around the building to access the thirstea shop doors. It's kind of weird because at night the walkway was dark, so you'd probably miss this shop of you weren't looking for it.

When I used to live in Rohnert park, I frequented this boba place often. Their drinks are always perfect, the boba is just the right amount of chewy every time! I have never had a bad experience. I also tried out the boba puffs, and they are hands down the best egg waffles I’ve ever had. Will continue to forever swear by this boba place (and will definitely come whenever I’m in the area)

PokéBowl Station - Barclays Center

It’s my third time ordering here, I always get the same thing. But this time there is something wrong with the food. Wish we could upload a video, I was eating my food and noticed a weird texture in my mouth, felt like I was eating eggshell, I continued eating then I noticed a grey-ish/brown thing in my bowl, it looks like dirt, I’m not sure what that is but it is not normal, hopefully I don’t get sick from this

They no longer have the Poke Tacos sadly.   food was good.  The Pineapple Sparkling Mojito was perfectly sweet.  Not overly sweet.  The Morning Boost Smoothy was a bit bland and a bit too much ice.

The Salmon Oasis was good.  I opted to not have the spicy salmon and the sauce made it just enough heat to feel it and still enjoy the poke bowl.

Around 12pm the school kids come in to eat there as well, so it gets quite loud and all the seats get taken.

11:30am was the perfect time to get there, order, and get a table.

There is also an outdoor area in the back, but I didn't notice if it was open for seating or not.  The sun umbrellas were all closed.

They do have one bathroom inside.

7/5 back for lunch. Love the poké bowl!
Bubble tea good too. We sat out back, it was quiet and warm, we needed warm after the crazy cold AC at work.

3/21/23 yeah still good for takeout!

12/4 another to-go order, brown rice, salmon and tuna, fresh and good lots of toppings*$1.50* extra for avocado.
But $3.00 for large bubble tea when you buy a bowl! That's a good deal.

11/28/22 back for to-go bowl, nice to fill out the order sheet and boom it's done. Still good food.

Stopped in for bubble tea. Still friendly service.
I think the chairs are different. They have benches now.

Really good quality of food. Me & the Gf made our own bowls. I had yellowtail, salmon and baby octopus, all good. Plenty of toppings and fixin's to choose from. Friendly service and a clean store. High tops are nice but the chairs are metal and no backs, certainly not made for hanging around after you eat... Lol
Good bubble tea too-

Very good poke bowl. The price is very affordable and the portions are really big. There are many customizations that you can make regarding your bowl or you can choose one of the premade mixes. Hard to beat the value at this place. The staff are really nice, the staff in charge of making my bowl was really friendly and funny.

So yummy, they’re very generous with their portions. The worker was patient and understanding. Very fast and efficient. The ambiance and song choices are amazing as well! Enjoyed my time here. Super filling!

Coffee Tree Poke

Been driving past the spot for quite some time finally had the opportunity to actually sit down and try the food. The lady that called me her name but she had pink hair. I was encouraged to try the salmon, but I had my eyes on the order called Temptation, hands-down my favourite experience.

Amazing food and great service! I got the poke and it was super fresh. Super close to work and basically no wait. It felt perfect for my lunch break!

I was really wanting to like this shop since I work next door and it would have been super convenient. However, I had a really frustrating experience. I bought a croissant sandwich yesterday and it was so burnt that it was black on several layers of the croissant. I came back and told them my experience of my inedible sandwich. I also asked if there are options to add lettuce and tomato to the hot sandwiches. She not only was expecting me to pay for the remake of the overpriced sandwich that I didn't get to eat yesterday but also cut me off in the middle of speaking to tell me that I have to pay extra for the veggies.

Got takeout for lunch and all of our choices were delicious! The bowls were packed full of the best toppings and a generous amount of sauce. Thank you for making great poke!

Such a fun little space for quick and delicious food. The patrons are a mix of locals, Harborview staff, and workers who stop by for everything from a quick bite to long conversation with friends. The menu has a choice of different poke bowls, soup and snacks. The staff is friendly and helpful. The prices are affordable. If you're in the area check it out!
