There aren't many of them and a lot of food to serve, but the food is excellent and the service might be quicker. Overall, there may be some wait times due to the packed restaurant; parking is difficult but manageable if you park close by. The department store and restaurant are connected. Some visitors come for the food, while others are drawn to the historic Spanish architecture. Well worth the money and wait!
The food is okay (get the enchilada suizas con salsa verde), but a must see for the buildings design and atmosphere!! A gorgeous building of tiles and an amazing mural by Jose Clemente Orozco.
I went to the restaurant portion of the store Service was kind of slow but the food was good enough. The chilaquiles rojos we're just bathed in tomato sauce. I did really like the arrechera though.
Very cool historic building. Nice atmosphere but slow service. my wife got soup which she liked a lot then came her enchiladas which she said the sauce was like tomato soup which she didn't like. I ordered a grilled beef steak. My meal didn't come until my wife had finished her meal for ten minutes. My steak was Luke warm, a little tough with tendons running through the meat. One of poorer dining experience we had in Mexico City.
The use of the bathroom has a cost unless you buy something from the store or dine in. Overall I'd say you can expect the standard Sanborns experience. Beware of the none commercially packed products, there's a good chance the are old.
