TLDR: one day job has turned into multiple visits due to oversights and missteps.
Requested estimate on Sep 8. On Sep 12, they scheduled an appointment for Sep 19 for that. Then we set up for the work to be done Oct 4 (was told in person and via email this would be a one day job… a huge factor since they price by half day and full day). Made sure to show Terrance the type of paint I was considering. Later confirmed that I needed to be the one to order it. All was well, so far. I’d had estimates from 5 companies in total and felt comfortable that Ace would get the job done professionally, timely and for a good price.
I requested the day off work and sent my puppy to daycare. They sent a different guy, I think his name was Caleb. He was nearly 45 mins late and generally a bit confused on what all needed doing. He decided to start with the bathtub refinishing, so I ran out for errands. I got a call and text from him about 1.5 hours later about a pipe in the wall preventing the cabinets from being fully recessed. I ok’d him to recess it as much as possible and was satisfied with how it looked. We then spoke as he was about to take lunch. Motion triggers alerts to my phone so I’m aware he was gone for about an hour 15. We arrived at my house at the same time.
Also turned out the second medicine cabinet i’d ordered had arrived broken. I ran out to exchange that, while he cut the wall for it and did the other items. He left at about 4:30, with the tubs not having anything done besides sanding.
I spoke with Amanda, who is wonderful and was unaware of these specifics when she called to take payment and set up another full day just for the painting. She got with the owner and they rectified the situation and sent Terrance out a few days later for the painting. On another day they sent out Tim, after the materials for my bedframe handle had arrived. I’ll bullet what’s happened since:
-The handles look nice and work well but the cutting has left behind holes and unsightly areas of wood. I have called at least 4 times to follow up (each time I had to call for status rather than someone getting back to me), sent a photo and finally was told if I go buy the paint, they’ll send someone to paint it.
-Caleb installed the second medicine cabinet without its shelves. They sent someone back to measure and cut shelves for me
-Caleb had Amanda call me, insisting he’d left his vacuum here. I pulled my security cam footage to ensure he’d left with it
-When the tape was removed from the tubs, it pulled some paint off around the faucet
-the only piece of work that was done properly and fully the first time around, was the blinds. They look amazing. Now that the medicine cabinets and storage cabinets are done in the bathrooms, those also look amazing.
Overall, Ace is staffed by wonderfully nice people. But the follow up is lacking, as is clear communication about what it will take to finish the total job. I doubt I’ll use them again and don’t even plan to reach out about the painting, will just do it myself at this point.
The guys arrived on time and we’re very friendly and knowledgeable. They took extra care in removing the existing storm door so as not to damage it. The new exterior door install went smoothly, as did reinstalling the storm door. The office staff were friendly and addressed any questions and concerns that I had. All said, it was a great experience. I’d highly recommend Ace Handyman Services Crystal Coast for home projects you might have.
I have used Ace Handyman Services two times. Once last year and earlier this year. They are very friendly and do great work. We had a small drywall job they did first. The second job was replacing deck boards on the back deck. We will be using them again for other projects.
We hired Ace Handyman Services to install 2 doors for us, a front fiberglass door and a storm door. Tim and Caleb arrived on time to do the install. During the work, they encountered a couple of problems along the way with getting the door to fit properly, but instantly knew how to fix it and they did. We also had them take our peep hole out of the old door and put it in the new door. These 2 men got along extremely well and we could tell that they really enjoy their work. They were very friendly with us and wanted us to be satisfied with the job. The office allowed 6 hours for this job to be completed and they got the job done in 4 hours and that included a trip back to the shop for supplies to fix the fit problem. We like the fact that if the job is completed early, the extra labor charge on your estimate is deducted from your bill. It made us feel like we got a bonus. These men did beautiful work! Absolutely no complaints! We hired Caleb to do some drywall work for us about a month ago and he did a fantastic job! These men have a way of making their work look easy, but if it were really all that easy, we'd all be able to do these jobs ourselves. We'll be hiring Caleb again for a larger drywall project in the future. We highly recommend Ace Handyman Services! God bless them!
