Drybar - Thompson Central Park

I’ve been 2 times to Drybar in two different locations. Both times they did a very good job with my hair. Featured in the photos here is the lovely Maceo who took care of my hair (you can see the outcome at one of the photos here). They will offer you complementary drinks while you wait but be sure to arrive on midweek otherwise the place can be pretty crowded. Also, to avoid long waiting time you should schedule appointments online. Or try to arrive as a walk-in on midweek.

I’ve been to other dry bars and had good experiences but it seems like booking an appointment here does not guarantee staff will be there to honor the appointment.

I booked an appointment on a time crunch for a special occasion for myself and my mom and was told no stylists were there for either of us. By 20 minutes after our appointment, no one had showed up and we had to leave.  I would not recommend this location if you are looking to actually get your hair done.

Vincent is the man. He did a fabulous job on my hair. My mother had hers done as well.. it looked less than fabulous but not only did Vincent offer to give a little more volume to hers.. he over heard us possibly not making our dinner reservation. So he asked his coworker to take care of my moms hair. I don’t run in to many people with a sense of urgency and care. I HIGHLY recommend this gentleman. I would become a loyal customer to him if I still lived here. Bravo from start to finish. Vincent!

I’ve been to about 7 Drybar locations, this was BY FAR THE WORST, I had a very negative experience. Every single time, and I mean EVERY SINGLE TIME, they are ALWAYS AT LEAST 45 minutes late minimum. This is the absolute WORST Dry Bar location I have ever been to. Would give zero stars if I could. In the business of customer service I feel "fashionably late" it still unacceptable. This is extremely unacceptable. Not only was my appointment not on time but I stood in the front of the shop and was not greeted by anyone. While I was getting my hair washed to two employees we're discussing how much they disliked their job, how they were searching for new jobs and that one employee was going to go back to her old job at the Drybar - Thompson Central Park, I have straight hair, you dont need to PULL and STRETCH and BREAK my hair to get it straight, it is hard NOT to have it by straight but this girl caused so much damage, She was rude from the beginning, throwing the menu book on the counter and asking, "What do you want?"  She barely washed the hair, sprayed water in my face, On top of that, the receptionists are absolute trash. Rude and unprofessional. I will never go back to this DryBar again.!!!!!!!

Love this place! Upbeat, fun, professional, everyone is friendly and you get to drink champagne while you get your hair blown out. Who could ask for more! I got the Manhattan of course!

Where's the 6th star? The best waxing experience every time, practically pain-free. Lana is an absolute professional when it comes to Brazilian waxing for men. I'm one of those people who doesn’t like to chat at the salons, but visiting Lana is like catching up with an old friend. I found Dayana SPA through high ratings almost 6 months ago, and am so glad I gave it a go - could not recommend more highly. Must-go.

Wow! The full body hair removal service exceeded my expectations. It was thorough and left my skin feeling amazing. I can't wait to show off the results!

12/3/22 I went to my appointment at the 39 street location midtown Manhattan. The lady working there that day stated she thought it was an Asian person coming because of the name that I put on the booking.she was the only employee there at the time. I said to her maybe you shouldn’t stereotype and she got quiet. She claimed to not have enough time to service me and I stated that I could go somewhere else. I didn’t come there to be rushed or half service. She stated that she could do what I booked. She seemed to be rushing the waxing and I wasn’t cleaned properly after. I felt sticky. The bathroom isn’t in the facility so if you need a massage it’s best to do that before you undress into the robe.Then when it was time for her to do the Swedish massage she acted like she was afraid to massage me. Then told me it was a larger price when the website says a different price. She acted like she didn’t understand what a Swedish massage was. I haven’t ever experienced this type of service. A Caucasian lady was sitting there when I got dressed after the massage and the employee was doing her nails. I normally love coming here and using this company. I’m not sure what this employees issue was. And yes I am black amongst other things. This shouldn’t have happened.

Can I just say that Lana is absolutely incredible? She is so nice and made my experience unforgettable, even though a Brazilian wax can be a bit awkward. I have been to multiple waxing salons, but Lana sets the bar very high and she makes my day each time. I am really happy with the results and will be back here again next time!

Drybar - Midtown East

I booked with a specific stylist months in advance. When I got there, I was told she called in sick. This was not true. She was told by management to stay home because they were slow. Knowing I booked specifically with her, management took it upon themselves to switch me to another stylist without 1st consulting me and giving me the option to cancel my appointment and book elsewhere. They are liars and the stylist I was assigned to did not style my hair as I asked, even after showing specific pictures of what I previously had done

It was a horrible experience do not spend your money here. I had my hair done for an an engagement party. First, the woman did a completely different style than what I asked for and blamed it on my short hair. The manager stepped in and had someone do it correctly. Second, I got home 30 minutes later and my hair is flat. The curls did not last more than 30 minutes. I normally have wavy hair that holds up curls but this didn’t hold up. My hair looks like it was flat ironed and now curled at all.

Terrible service. I was a 3:15pm walk in on Sunday the 3rd of September. Sign outside store said 7pm close and walk ins welcome. Both stylists were working with clients but acknowledged me so I took a seat. Half an hour later as both clients were finished eftpos issues held up one stylist. The other had a very disgruntled client so disappeared out the back. At 3:40pm the first stylist said “oh I thought you were waiting for someone”….”we close at four”. I said your sign says you are open until 7pm! Response was “sorry but staff shortages mean those aren’t our hours anymore, you need to leave because we are closing”. Unbelievable. The stylist could have stayed and done my hair given the circumstances. If that was my business I’d be appalled at the staff attitude to customer service and brand reputation.

Probably the worse hair styling I have ever had. My hair is naturally wavy. I asked them to simply define a few of the curls.

After 2 hair stylists (thank you manager of the store for at least trying) and a lot of burning smell in the air the receptionist was the cherry on the top: she was rude beyond belief!

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Let me start off by saying I am not the type to write reviews but my experience warrants it. They had an attitude the second I walked in and I heard the front desk lady to refer to me as the "Latino one" when my stylist asked who I was. When I showed my stylist the style I wanted (which was just a traditional blowout) she said she could not do that and the only thing she could do was straighten or curl it. I eventually said she can just straighten it. While she was straightening my hair, she burned the back of my head very badly to the point where I now have to use a Silicon scar gel for the scar. She did not apologize or even acknowledge the burn after I flinched and let her know she burned my head. I booked the appointment for a guest as well, who showed up on time but they claimed she was 5min late as that is when the front desk got to her and they refused to style her hair (and they still charged her for the full price of the blowout). After my hair was done and I paid via gift card, the front desk lady did not even say thank you or have a good day, she just tossed my gift card back at me. I am honestly appalled and have never experienced this type of treatment, please avoid.

Absolutely LOVE the Wall Tap. Dry Bar!  Have had multiple services with different staff members and have never been disappointed!  Easy to schedule an appointment on line and have always received prompt attention upon arrival.  Great place, great service and so convenient.  Highly recommend them!!

Such a treat! Abby did a fantastic job. Listened to what I wanted and made it perfect. It lasted all day. Most times I need to "fix" my blow outs after a haircut. This blow out was absolutely perfect!

I’m so happy with my experience at the Drybar! The facility is very clean and I was greeted as soon as I walked through the door. I only waited about 2 minutes before I was taken for my appointment. Elle was very friendly and was very quick. She knew exactly how I wanted my hair to look and asked before applying products to my hair, which I was very grateful for. Sometimes you don’t want all that hairspray in your hair, but the products do smell really nice. My appointment was finished in 10 minutes and I got exactly what I asked for. I couldn’t be more pleased. I will definitely be returning to the Drybar the next time I need my hair styled.

I stopped my membership back in October from two horrible experiences with the same stylist who I had specifically asked not to get again and yet I did. When I cancelled I still had two blowouts and an add on, I was told they would be good for use within 90 days(including the add on). I was going to schedule a blowout with the add on before the end of the month that following week and was REASSURED it would be fine to use within said 90 day period. Fast forward to this past week when I made my final appointment I mentioned how I had an add on and was looking for an appointment Saturday morning and they didn’t have any as early as I needed(and to not be with said stylist) so we discussed Friday 12/15 and Thursday 12/14 availability and Thursday 12/14 worked best. I made the appointment received my email confirmation and text confirmation as I always do. I go to my appointment and my stylist Elle was absolutely wonderful and left my hair looking picture perfect. As I go to check out the front desk wanted to charge me for the add on, stating that didn’t roll over when the barfly membership was cancelled and I explained how I was told otherwise. Fast forward to this morning Saturday 12/16. I receive a voicemail that I had missed my appointment and would be charged for no showing. I never made an appointment for today nor did I ever receive an email or text confirmation for it and wasn’t mentioned when I was there TWO days prior for my appointment. I called and the level of indifference and lack of consideration of THEIR wrongdoing was appalling. I am so glad I will NOT be returning to this DryBar location. Please use caution. Horrible customer service and truly such a shame.

This was my second time there. Maddy did a phenomenal job. She listened to what I wanted and what my hair needed. She shared her expertise with me. It was true collaboration. Maddy’s attention to detail made me feel like a princess. I adore my look!

Nicole did my make up last night, right before I had to attend a benefit.  She make me stunning!  I did a full face $50-$60.  Well worth it!
She's amazing, she took me as a last minute client, picked a great color palette for me.  I got so many compliments. Definitely going back!

Hello! What a disappointment!
Days ago I made an appointment for a blow dry and eye make up. The hair was alright, however I couldn’t understand the fact that HOW ON EARTH, if you are a salon owner, not have any kind of eye liner available in your salon? Not only that but also the fact that the make up employee didn’t know how out on an eye liner at all??!
I’m leaving my biggest sadness in this review section!

This review is for 74th location and Lexington Avenue. Why the hairdresser did a good job to my daughter’s hair. She took more than one hour to finish her job, and overcharged me for the time, saying is our policy to charge you with extended time, if things go over one hour. Something never clearly stated online. Called business, complained, she told me the manager will call back and they never did. this is the first time it happened. Be aware it happened in this location compared to the other blowbar locations in UES I have tried.

Had a great experience here! I've never done a blo bar / dry bar, but wanted to look nice for a wedding. Mika (potentially not the right spelling) was my stylist and I was super impressed. My hair doesn't really hold a curl but she styled it in a way that the curls and style held and looked great all day and through the end of the night. It even looked great after sleeping on it. Will definitely be back.

I was pleasantly surprised at the service! I had a young girl by the name of Victoria who had impeccable manners- I know my hair and it’s tough for me to trust anyone who does it. I made her do my hair 4 different ways. She never lost her cool and smiled throughout the entire process and kept asking me if I was happy with the result. Super disappointed in the blow out I had. The woman was new and it was incredibly awkward. I gave her a tip for the nice scalp massage but the actual blow out is flat and weird, no shape or definition to the waves. For “volume” she blew my bangs straight up, which just just making them fall weird on the side of my head now, but didn’t put any volume in the crown of my head. I don’t think they hire professional hair stylists. I also don’t think she used the conditioning treatment listed in my appointment. This place is the equivalent of going to a shady nail salon where you’re being rushed in and rushed out by people who may or may not know what they’re doing.

Always have a great experience here! I have long thick curly hair and my appt requires extra time but Hanna always takes care of me, doesn’t make me feel rushed and does an AMAZING job.

I expected good things based on price. Every curl fell out in 5 minute walk back to apartment even though I’d said yes to product and hairspray. I would have appreciated some warning that it was likely.

If I could give this business 10 stars, I would!  I was in NYC for my son's wedding, and I was nervous about doing my hair myself.  My daughter-in-law tried them out for a blow out, was satisfied, and I felt confident in going there.
From start to finish they were professional and very kind.  It was 11:00 am and I was worried about my hair holding for the 4:30 pictures, the 5:00 wedding, and the reception following.  They gave me the option of coming back at 2:00, dressed and made up, so that my hair would be all set.  I didn't really like that idea, so they devised a way to keep my very fine, somewhat curly aging hair in place.  Two women (I'm sorry that I don't remember their names) spent loads of time on me and really seemed to care, and when it was finished, it was gorgeous! Although it was a very windy day and we took pictures outside, my hair stayed in place all day and well into the evening.  I got more compliments on my hair than I did on my dress, and I only wish that this salon was closer to my home.
I am truly grateful to these hard working women who know their craft and care about their clients.  Kudos!

Drybar - Upper East Side

I like this place and my blowout has lasted several days. However it was really disappointing to wait 25 minutes after my appointment time, esp when they are not flexible the other way around. TIP: Know when you want your time and show up, the rescheduling and cancellation is not great.

I went in telling my woman about the photo shoot I was having and told her more about my personality and the impression I wanted to make and she made the suggestions based on her experience and my hair. I went in with my hair already washed so my service was fast and all got out on time.  Treat yourself, enjoy!

Really disappointed with my experience. I have been coming to this salon to get my hair done for special occasions since I was in high school and never had any issue.

Almost 10 years later, I scheduled two appointments: one for Xmas Eve and another for NYE. The lady took a couple minutes to wash my very thick hair. She then blowed it out and I could still feel my wet roots. She curled it. When I got home, I found a huge gulp of shampoo sitting on my bed and I had to immediately wash my hair before Xmas Eve.

Going here is not worth your time. I can do a better job myself. I will be canceling my NYE appt immediately.

I asked for brushed curls 90s style as I always do. Unfortunately my blow out was handled by an unexperienced stylist… even though her manager tried to fix it, it is now puffy and looks like what I could have done at home with a revlon brush, and I’m not a pro. I am used to come to this location once per month and usually my hair would look amazing for days!! But this time, it was a waste of money (70$) :( please train your stylists and dont let them experiment on thick long hair… she wasn’t sectioning the hair in small or medium parts. I had a special event i needed to go too, cant believe i ended up doing my hair alone.

The person didn’t know about hair up do! Took more than a hour to do it just for ponytail was really bad for $125  is better to go to a hairstylist never come back Dry bar is not good any more place is gone

AVOID AVOID AVOID! They make you look great in the store then it all completely falls out as soon as you leave. I had a party to go to and looked fine in the mirror at the end of the service! Then when I walked not even 5 minutes outside, all of the curls fell out and it looked like I didn't even get my hair done.

I called back to complain when I got home, but conveniently no one picked up the phone and said they were "closed" at 6:00pm. I left a voicemail and never received a callback, but when I called back today they said there was nothing they could do because "I didn't complain the same day." Are you kidding me. Total scam, and I'm immediately disputing on my credit card-- DO NOT come here. Bleu Sur Bleu on 69th & Lex is WAY better and like half the price. Ask for Luli and she'll take care of you better than any of these people would.

Drybar - Rumble in Upper East Side

I really wish I had read other reviews before booking this location. Super nice people, but for being a well-funded company they need to hire a plumber ASAP. During the wash, the water was FREEZING cold and suddenly switched to uncomfortably hot. Looking back at other reviews it seems this has been an issue for over a year. This location should not offer wash and blow out if they can’t do very basic washes at a comfortable temperature. Again, not the stylist’s fault (she even tried to warn me). Really not cool. I left disappointed in my experience.

Nancy did an incredible job on my blow out! I did have to wait when I got there BUT Nancy was the only stylist so I can’t blame her for that. I was still out in under an hour. The wash was lavish and she styled me so fast. My curls look amazing!!! Thanks Nancy!!

This place is FILTHY!!! I was so grossed out by the whole experience in this “salon”. There is dirt and dust everywhere. I don’t think this place has ever been cleaned since the day it opened.

The stylist that did my hair just kept spraying so much damn product and by the time I left the salon all the curls dropped. I blow dry my own hair and that last 2/3 days. I had to wash my hair same night because it just looked so oily. Waste of time and money.

This place really needs to get their act together!!!!!! Hire a cleaning company ASAP

Worst blow out by Louis. I went there today and first of all he was 10 min late, and had a very rude persona throughout. He rushed and did a terrible job and at the end I looked at my hair and saw part was curled and part was straight. I told him about it and he said it was basically my fault because I was touching it…. Very silly. Disappointing encounter. Won’t be going back to him

They can't keep to the schedule, and the girl working the front desk was clueless about how to manage appointments. I was in an hour after my scheduled time.... also, my blow dry was nothing special, especially considering the high price tag. Go elsewhere to a local salon that will be better and cheaper.

Worth every penny! I loved how attentive everyone was. I walked in, was greeted and offered a drink. Having my hair washed and scalp massaged felt A-Mazing! I chose to have a blow out with soft curls. The product line they use smells good and was gentle on my hair which I appreciate because I have fine hair and am very sensitive to smells. Would recommend for anyone wanting to be pampered!

Best experience! My hair lasts for a good 4-5 days and I have very curly 64 year old hair! I walk out each time feeling so pretty!

I visited several months ago … the workers are very nice … However, I was not happy with my results. I did not call to speak with the manager and I am relieved and happy for not  buying any packages they sell. ( I am glad I did not purchase the package before the blow dry because they insisted I purchase a package before my actual experience.) “sometimes your first experience is the last one” this was definitely the case for me. My experience was I came in during the month of their grand opening and I had the salon to myself the entire duration of my visit ( the 3 employees were also there one of them being the owner). I met the stylist and she quickly walked me over to the seat to wash my hair with extensions - my stylist roughly blow dried my hair ( meaning she used the blow dry to wave it around my head to dry it not because she was physically rough with it ) and she continued to use a curling hair iron when the hair was only about 70% dry and failed to even style the hair while blow drying …. My hair was both burnt and super frizzy … waste of money …. I tried to give them a second recently but they do not even give you a choice to choose a stylist and after my first experience and that stylist is still there I wanted to make sure I would not be assigned to her again And chose another stylist that seemed more experience based on her portfolio. I want to love them because I am definitely part of the demographic and would have bought the packages but considering my first encounter and considering I can’t even choose a stylist - no thanks ! This salon might  e perfect for little girls / little hair / little styling

The new owners are absolutely amazing! This place is elegant and the staff is so kind and put so much care into their work. Highly recommend for your hair and makeup needs!

I recently went here for my very first blowout! It was so amazing the whole time I felt pampered. The stylist listened to exactly what I wanted. The owner is so sweet and accommodating. And my hair looked phenomenal wish I could wake up looking like that everyday!
