Taranto's Pizzeria

I always drive by this strip center off Powell rd near Polaris mall and I finally stopped in to check out Taranto’s Pizzeria. I was waited on very quickly since I was a little after the lunch crowd. The first thing that was nice you don’t need to buy whole pie and spend 18.00-25.00. I bought a piece of cheese and a slice of pepperoni. This is a little boring but it’s also the basis for good pizza. The pizza was hot and had a fluffy crust. The 2 pieces of pizza and the drink was around 10.75. A lot better than paying for a whole pie. The restraunt was very clean and professional. The lady that waited on me was very pleasant and ask if I wanted a refill I would have given the overall score of 4.5 but it was better than 4 so they received a 5. It’s a nice place and worth a stop every once in a while. Give it a try and I think you be happy you did.

First time here. Had heard so much about their Tarantasaurus huge pizza. Called it in and they said 35-40 minutes, I told them no problem won’t be there for an hour. Got there and they gave me my big pizza but was waiting on a gluten free pizza. Went ahead and put the big one in the trunk and went back and waited another 10 minutes for the next one. They bring out two non gluten free pizzas saying it was ours. Come to find out they made a mistake and had given me the wrong order. We went back to the trunk and took out the pizza and brought it back in. Poor lady was there to pick up her pizzas that they had given to us watched us walk it back in and they turned around and handed it off to her with no explanation. Waited 20 minutes after the order was supposed to be ready and it finally came out. Quality: Poor. Sauce was good but it was thick and doughy along the outside, thin and soggy in the center cuts. See attached pics. Unfortunately, a bad experience all around. Maybe it’s better with the small pizzas but don’t recommend this big pizza at all.

Taranto's is located in the shopping center next to Fleet Feet. The staff is phenomenal and they do offer Gluten Free options which I must say the gluten free crust is phenomenal! I recommend making the sauce baked ranch, then adding cheese, chicken, bacon and sausage. Their salads are nicely portioned and I highly recommend you try some of their specialty pizzas and all their sandwiches they have on their menu.

I’ve grown up coming to Taranto’s with my family, this was always one of our staple restaurants. After college I moved to Texas and finally made the trip back home for the holidays for the first time in 5 years. I’m disappointed to say that this is not the same Taranto’s I’ve grown up with. Not sure if they’re under new management or something but the service was TERRIBLE. I work in the restaurant management industry and am always pretty understanding of mistakes, however I don’t see any excuse for the service we received today. After grabbing a table it took over 30 minutes to receive our appetizer, mozzarella sticks. I know those can’t take more than 10 minutes (that’s generous) to throw in the fryer. Our 2 pizzas took an additional 20 minutes after the appetizer. Once we finished we sat and waited for an additional 20 minutes waiting for the check. I actually had to get up from the table to ask, and we were the only ones in the restaurant at that point. The food was good, not great, but just be warned you’re going to be waiting a while for it.

This was our first time here & you've got a new customer! The hand tossed pizza is FANTASTIC! My daughter loved that she got to make her own personal pizza! Our server was great!
