British Swim School of Wexford - The Woodlands Aquatic Center

Our 20-month old is in the tadpole class and she absolutely loves it. The instructors are wonderful, the environment is positive, organized and hygienic and have a good instructor to child ratio. The exercises they have the children do in the water are fun and lively. Overall great experience and would recommend to other parents of young children.

Our instructor was very patient, and stern, the kids knew it was not play time and to focus…and play time was at the end of class. Love her!

My daughters (1 and 3 yo) are thriving at  British Swim School swim lessons at the Woodlands location. The instructors are engaging, knowledgeable and patient. The deck manager and lifeguard are welcoming, kind and attentive. The office staff have also been very helpful any time I need to call the office for scheduling, billing, etc. Overall, every single employee we have encountered thus far has been incredible and we cannot say enough great things about this program. As a family, we all truly look forward to Monday evenings at swim! The feeling of knowing that my daughters are learning water safety skills and building a positive experience around swimming is priceless. Thank you, BSS Pgh!!!

The whole experience was wonderful. The staff is so kind and supportive. Will be signing up again in early spring.

Kiddie Academy of North Pittsburgh

We love Kiddie Academy. The staff is so wonderful and the center is very reliable. We love the educational aspect and feel our child is being set up for success!

We had two children attend Kiddie Academy since they opened about 4 years ago. After the initial growing pains of anew business, hiring staff and solidifying the operations, the business side of things operated smoothly and the caregivers have always been very loving and kind. Our youngest is now entering Kindergarten and we have said our goodbyes at Kiddie Academy. We will miss them.

A heartbreaking experience. Seven new kids all starting at the same time led to clashing behaviors. Our son got slapped in the face. He got physically handled by a teacher, which was observed on video.

At the end of the day, he was singled out as a problem kid, we were told that "we cannot lose teachers, so he has to go".

We followed up with the teacher and it turned out that low pay, lack of support, and onboarding many kids at the same time like this was the reason.

But imagine being told about your kid - that he is the reason teachers are quitting, while it is not the fact.

Is it cultural rifts? Business first, children later? A mix?

We love Kiddie Academy! They are such a warm, caring staff that really helped our daughter thrive. Would recommend this daycare to other parents.

The teacher for the oldest group of kids, Serenity, prepared my kids so well for kindergarten. It's been a year since I left & am incredibly happy with the work she did.

Kiddie Academy of Wexford

My kid started biting his nails after going this daycare. Generally he likes going to Pre K classroom. In this daycare first months he was ok to go but at the end he cried to not enter the classroom.

Our daughter has been at KAW for over a year, starting at 3 months old.  They really are another “family” away from home and she loves being there!  We are so grateful that they take such great care of our daughter.  It is amazing how many things she has already learned from her time there.

The teachers are attentive to our child’s needs. Management is responsive and transparent. The hours are more flexible than others. We enjoy the daily reports and occasional pictures as well as appreciate the structure provided via planned learnings. The cost is a little higher than other places, but the teacher ratio and lesson plan was a better fit for our daughter.

I have been a team member at the Wexford location for 8 years. In the beginning I came on board as and infant teacher and grew into a supervisor which led to my current position as Assistant Director. I would not have achieved such goals without the support and encouragement from the owners and other members of management. Through issues and suggestions we all work together as a team to navigate to the best solution and it’s really great that everyone is heard. We receive health, dental, and vision insurance along with a simple IRA. This job would be way less enjoyable without our awesome staff, wild children, and management team. Mona and Dave are truly a family oriented team and have formed such a community over the years. I love that their door is always open.

This is a wonderful place to send your child to learn, play and have a very safe environment. I love that my child comes home daily with new experiences and new skills. I find this organization to be a home away from home for my child. There is not only focus in advancement of learning skills, but of learning how to grow emotionally as well.

School of Rock

I've been looking for about 2 months every day to find myself an interlocutor. I understand that the hardest thing in Pittsburgh is getting your kid to take piano lessons. There is no need for new students in any music school anyway. Nobody answered that phone. Last time a girl opened, I left my e-mail address for registration. It will be about a week, I'm still waiting for your email. there is no hurry, they send an email next year.

This program engaged my son to the point where he came home every day happy and excited to show us what he learned.  He went from kinda being able to play the guitar to being able to play 2 songs and telling everyone that he's a guitar player!  That kind of confidence along with the skills was exactly what we were hoping he would get from this program.  He had fun and already asked to go back again next year! THANK YOU!

Decided to try for My son who has passion for music and has autism. If you know someone with autism, you know firsts don't always go well. In this case he was having an issue focusing during the first 30 minute drum lesson. The young adult male came out 15 Minutes into my sons lesson and said it wasn't going to work out  because your son just wasn't focusing or listening. No kidding! Gotta give him a chance. Way to go! I don't recommend.

Our instructors have been, to a one, kind and patient and interested in making sure our kids enjoy the experience of learning their instruments.

The School of Rock is awesome! A place for kids to engage w other kids. Learn about music and have a blast at the same time! Staff members are amazing, and always keep kids safe/distanced &masked. Always making sure that everything is sanitized:) We love the School of Rock!! If your kids love music this is the place to go!

The Wave Aquatic & Fitness Center

Having been to gyms all over the place, The Wave was a pleasant surprise. While traveling through the area to hike Glacier, my buddy and I were looking for a gym but he was skeptical of this place because it's an "aquatic center" so I convinced him to take a look inside and after seeing their dumbbells that went up to 125lb, he was convinced that it would be a good workout 🤣.
This is a beautiful facility with very friendly staff, great workout equipment and a swimming pool, hot tub and steam room. Definitely coming back here next time we're in the area.

An oasis of hygienic and fitness extreme. Free weights, every machine ever made, massive dumb bells, lap pool, therapy pool, kids pool, super clean locker rooms - I don’t want to actually leave this review because this place has amazing rates for a month pass and it is a world class fitness club. Also a nice area for workout drinks and a huge Montana lounge with a fireplace. Did I mention the basketball court, racquetball courts and pickle ball? Or the on-site day care? I’m fixing up my ranch and that is dirty, hard work. My time here at the Wave is the highlight of my day. What an amazing place.

The staff is absolutely incredible,  the gym and equipment  (new) is second to none.  Only qualm is the day pay is rather expensive for the 24 hours it's avaliable and the weekend hours could be earlier.  Other than that the smooth bar was magnificent and the locker rooms clean and well maintained.

I want to first respond to the critical review by Jack F; he's essentially saying that I'm upset by the fact that nicer things come at a higher cost. My guess is that Jack might be upset that a Ferrari or Mercedes costs more than a Kia or Hyundai, or that the Ritz Carlton is pricier than a Best Western. I apologize, but I couldn't resist addressing such a ridiculously illogical review. I've visited the Wave a few times, and it's a fantastic place with incredibly friendly staff and great amenities. I'm grateful that the ownership has invested a significant amount of money to create a high-end facility like this. Thank you!

The Wave is a fantastic facility. They have superb cardio and weight lifting stations. The pool, spa and steam are spectacular. The staff are MOSTLY helpful and kind. Occasionally someone has the snobs or the grumps, but that is most places. They have many many classes with top tier instructors. See Bruce R. He'll get your sweating. The gym is awesome too. If you are looking for a family friendly place to get a workout, this place is it. If your looking for a grungy, dark, serious lifters gym, you may want to keep looking. I mean no chalk? Really? Lol ok.

The School of Rock has been a fantastic experience for my son.  Learning and playing songs with other band members, in a controlled setting, has been a great way to better himself as a musician.  On top of the practices and rehearsals, the live shows were exceptionally fun for the kids.   Great program, wish I was young enough to join.

My 6.5 year old daughter really enjoys the Rookies program. Evan is a kind and patient instructor but still has the fortitude to keep the class focused and on task. Kids are offered an opportunity to try various instruments which my daughter loves because they "aren't allowed to use the big instruments at school" for another two years. It's been a great introduction to music and we've been extremely pleased with the school and their program.

My son has been having lessons at school of rock for around four months and he loves absolutely everything about them! His teacher, Matt, is wonderful and very knowledgeable. Each lesson is more like a jam session of my son‘s favorite songs rather than anything too structured and yet he is still learning so much every week. He recently joined one of the performance groups as well which is a wonderful way to learn and develop all the skills a musician needs.
School of rock teaches music in the way it should be taught; by keeping it fun and using the creativity of the students to develop their natural talents.
It is a very inclusive community and every single member of staff has been so friendly and helpful.

My daughter leaves her lessons smiling. No matter how her day went or how her week went for that matter, she comes out smiling. The feeling of accomplishment is completely evident in that smile and in her eyes. That tells me all I need to know. This is a very worthwhile investment we’re making in her future. The songwriting group amazes me because it’s something she’s wanted to do for years but didn’t know where to start. But they’ve made progress. I heard the recording. She’s moving her vocals from a classical/opera style to rock style. And learning guitar to boot. She’s involved. She loves her instructors. Absolutely. Worth. It.

My daughter has been playing the guitar for a few years and has loved it,  but wasn't really progressing.  In just a few short weeks, under Quinn's incredible guidance, I can already see and hear the difference.  The Performance Program has finally has the "energy" and "push" she was lacking.  My son also started playing the drums and is having an amazing experience with Jordan.  He can't wait to begin the Performance Program!  We all love the School of Rock and are so glad it's close to home in Castle Shannon!

British Swim School has been such a great experience for my kids. They have such confidence in the water and are having fun while learning safety! The instructors are personable and give dedicated individual and group attention.

Thank you for many years of excellent service! All four of our kids have learned to swim with British Swim School and I often recommend them to friends.

My daughter just started a class here.  The instruction is good and she loves the place and get instructor. Nice facility and I think the pool is heated.

My kids had their first lessons tonight and they loved it! Their teacher was great!
