You won't regret veering off the highway to go to Zac's! You may see some wild donkeys (burros) along the way. I had chicken enchiladas con salsa Verde and they were absolutely wonderful! I wish I had room to try some of the desserts but didn't.

I am not sure I will give this place another chance to be fair, I left so insulted and diminished, it was heartbreaking and infuriating. Got there early, had a couple of drinks, not very well made margaritas, bitter lime squeezed hours ago, asked for fresh and was told that was it. From a bottle, in the land of lime. Suddenly a crowd of “locals” arrived with kids and large dogs not on a leash, my little dog panicked and barked with the startle, a waiter came over and told me I was going to have to leave if I didnt control my dog (a 7 pound on my lap Yorkie 🤔) he was serious, threatening me over my little dog that yapped with fear. I had some appetizers, seemed to be frozen, thawed, fried, not Mexican quality appetizers. I talked to a few people about this incident, I have been told Zacatitos is an American only clique community and I was obviously not welcome there not being an owner there, that it was their bar and staff would always look down on people like me. Wow, so this gorgeous area is being turned into the U S with another type of big old boys clubs? Very disappointed and saddened, Baja is being butchered. There is even a chain and a gate to enter, even though there must be Beach access.

Our first time at Zac’s and definitely our last. We arrived with our 2 very “well behaved and friendly dogs on leash”, as per the sign indicated at the entrance. We sat down upstairs and ordered our drinks. The dogs settled, lying on the floor so I unclipped their leash. Unbeknownst to me, our small social beagle-x saw a large dog under the table close by and went over to say hi. The large dog went into immediate attack mode and tried to bite our dog. We called him back and he came. A woman came over and yelled “you have to get your dog on a leash!” I said OK, apologized and immediately clipped the leash back on. No problem! My bad. But then the woman began lecturing me, explaining all the reasons I was wrong, and all the problems people like me and dogs like mine cause. I nodded, said I understood, but she continued. I got defensive and said “I get it. You don’t have to lecture me!” My husband also was telling her we understood and there was no need to continue. It was degrading and embarrassing for us. About 15 minutes later, she returned and apologized, which I appreciated. But then after introducing herself as Angel, the owner of Zac’s, she started right back up, lecturing me about all the trouble dogs cause and the 1 star review she recently received from someone else with a dog. I explained that my dogs are harmless and very well mannered, but that the vicious dog under the table was a menace and questioned why his owner wasn’t being lectured? He certainly wasn’t complying with her sign. She had no response. We chose not to buy any food because of this experience and soon left. As I was heading down the stairs the owner of the vicious dog said “go get ‘em!” and their dog flew down the stairs, barking and lunging at my dogs. I got between them and swore at the dog while the owner came down to retrieve it. I asked her why her dog wasn’t on leash and she claimed he broke free. Uh huh. My husband was in the bathroom and came out while I was trying to get my dogs in our vehicle. She told him “your wife needs an attitude adjustment”. Honestly, words cannot describe how mortifying this whole scenario was. We left with the resolve that we will never return. We will tell all our many East Cape friends. We have had the delight of frequenting many dog-friendly establishments here in Baja, but they are typically owned by the friendly and respectful Mexicans, so we will continue to be patrons of those and happily spend our money there. If you are looking for a cliquey, non-friendly bar with gringos and a bad vibe, then this is your place.

Our friends took us here for lunch. I had the bmf burrito and it was humongous! Very tasty too. Drinks were strong. Service was friendly and fast. I really liked this place. Wild donkeys were an added plus too.

Awesome place, wonderful food and staff. Dog friendly but please, keep your dogs at your table and under control. This is important so that Zacs can remain dog friendly.
