Update: Doug, the owner, did reply same day and agree to refund the $800 owed plus $100 for inconvenience, which is much appreciated. I do still feel that the stress caused due to poor organization/business outweighs everything else about SoR WF.
Aside from the poor communication and management that caused me to cancel my son’s lessons in July 2023, Doug (owner) continued to charge me $200/month through the rest of 2023 ($800 total thus far). He confirmed our cancellation in writing on 7/24/2023 but continued to charge me. I’ve never experienced such poor business practices. Save yourself some stress and go elsewhere.
I want to start off by saying that the instructors get 5 stars! I started taking my daughter here at the beginning of the year for guitar lessons, and Sean was her instructor, and he was nothing short of fantastic. She really enjoyed her lessons with him. He made her comfortable and he kept her interested in her instrument. He was very down to earth and a lot of fun. Sean communicated well with me also. There was a time or two he wasn't available, so sub instructors did her lessons, and she still enjoyed it.
I'm leaving a one star review because the owner is a terrible communicator. There were multiple times that payments were messed up, and he'd take weeks to respond to me about it (I have the documentation to prove it). I was overcharged multiple times. He ultimately would correct the errors, but his lack of urgency in responding, and the repeat billing errors became really aggravating. It felt disrespectful. When someone is paying a decent amount of money for a service, you expect mistakes to be addressed quickly. It was like receiving my business didn't really matter. It was a huge turn off. I caution anyone looking here for lessons because you're going to run into trouble, and you'll have to patiently sit, sometimes for weeks, waiting for a response. Nobody wants their money messed with, but when something happens, you want a quick resolution. That's how you build trust with your customers, you communicate.
It's really a shame because the instructors MAKE that place. It's fun, and the kids stay interested. I feel like the owner is digging a hole for himself, and he really could do a MUCH better job than what he's doing right now. I pulled my daughter out because of the owner...not the instructors.
The owners and teachers have cultivated an environment that pushes the kids to reach higher musical goals while being a safe place for them to hangout. Kim and Doug put on amazing shows at great local venues around Wake Forest.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE! The owners are dedicated to make sure each and every child has an opportunity to excel & grow in so many ways. The friendships the kids make, the guidance, the support they receive from the staff is irreplaceable!
