What a disappointing end to our vacation. The menu looked great, and we were thinking lobster would be a great way to end vacation. We happened to go on a Wednesday night, which happens to be Surf and Turf night. That seemed lucky! But, I think that was part of the problem. It was very busy and they were severely understaffed. Our waiter did the best he could, but we waited well over an hour for our dinner. And when the food came, it did NOT impress. The sweet potato waffle fries were great and the lobster tail with the surf and turf was good. Everything else was not. I am not a big negative review person, and I was thinking 3 stars. My wife's steak, green beans, and potatoes were so disappointing she told me I couldn't go above 2 stars! My ribs were not very good either so I simply can't recommend. It could have been an off night, so I hate to bash, but when it's overwhelmingly slow service and not very good food, I have to let you all know!

On Saturday, December 2nd my friend and I went to Point Lobster as we often do after a day of shopping, however, we were also celebrating a birthday and the holidays. We sat at the bar like normal and Liam waited on us like normal. We are not drinkers, we are Christian adult women who never go out but enjoy a drink or two with our dinner. The restaurant/bar started getting busy as we were there but there was plenty of seating. There was never a wait. My friend and I ordered appetizers, dinner and a total of 4 drinks. Earlier in the night we noticed a man across the bar who we had never seen there before but assumed to maybe have been an owner or manager. As the night went on, maybe right after we ordered our 4th drink and paid our $180 bill this man approached us questioning why we were there so long and so happy. He then went on to ask where we were from and when we told him Forked River, he asked why we didn’t go out around that area. I don’t know who this man was or is but we found his questions inappropriate, rude and uncomfortable. We were not acting drunk, we paid our tab and well over tipped the bartender, we were not bothering anyone. We were laughing and smiling and enjoying being right where we were. However, we couldn’t get out of there fast enough after talking to whoever this person is. I hope he isn’t an owner or manager. I, myself work in the food industry and if my manager heard me telling customers to go elsewhere I’d be fired or asking them why they were there so long. It wasn’t even close to closing time and this man wouldn’t answer any of our questions like who he was or why he wanted to know about us. Then he lied and said he saw me there without my friend and I have never stepped foot in that place without her. Sadly, after this, we do not want to come back to point lobster and we love it. It was our girls night out place! We loved the food, atmosphere, wait staff, it was such a great place and I have never seen this man there before. I should’ve thought better to speak to a manager that night but I was in such shock. I hope someone does read this and figures out who this person is, my bar tender -not Liam- said he was “like a co manager” when I asked him so I don’t know what that means but I don’t think he’s good for business. You just lost 2.

My family and I went here for an early dinner back in October. We specifically chose this place because on their online menu they have squid ink pasta (black pasta), which is my favorite and can be difficult to find. When we got there, we were seated immediately and the decor is traditional nautical. Our waitress was young and was not the friendliest and she forgot multiple things despite it not being busy at the time we went. She spent most of her time chasing with the other waitress at the stand by the kitchen. When it came time to order, I ordered the squid ink pasta and was told they do not carry that. When I pointed out that it was on their website, we were told that they never updated their menu online. All of us ended up ordering the lobster and sweet corn risotto, seafood paella, panko and pistachio mahi mahi, linguini and clams and fried calamari. The fried calamari was average, the mahi mahi with fried rice was extremely dried out, the seafood paella was okay and the linguini with clams was super bland. You tagged miss olive oil and the clams were not cleaned properly because I got a mouth full of sand in each bite. Towards the middle of our meal, a live band came in and while the music was nice it was so loud that the three of us were shouting to each other just to be heard. I would not go again because of the lackluster food and subpar service. There are many other restaurants I would choose to in the area such as The Shrimp Box in Point Pleasant and The Crab Claw in Seaside where the food and service are better.

Visited this restaurant on a Friday night at 4:30. Lucky for us, the next hour or so a steady flow of people came in. Quick service from the bartender at a table was good. We just had a lobster roll sandwich. They came with French fries. It was hot. The food was very good but the portions were rather small and disappointing. Anyway we had a good dinner and a good night. Stop by. You will like it.

The kids fried shrimp was really good, stole a few from my kid but the portion was very generous, so I didn’t feel too bad. Lobster roll was great too!
