This place has a great reputation of taking advantage of people and lying to them about repairs that don’t actually need to be done. They also overcharge for work that isn’t done properly or safely. Beware of this business, they only care about how vulnerable you are as a customer and do not care about your safety. Check out this “exhaust work” that was done and charged $360 for it. Extremely poor quality and very unprofessional. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT take your vehicle here.
I left my 2010 Subaru Forester at Midas on Monday 7/31/23 so the techs could start on as soon as they could Tuesday morning. I’d given Alex all of my contact information on Friday afternoon to make the process that much smoother.
Well, by 2:35 PM we reached out to Midas for an update, Alex stated he didn’t have our information and was waiting for our call to start on the repair. The explanation of the repair was it was going to take several hours do to the complexity of the repair. We authorized the repair this sounded bad. Alex wasn’t sure if they would have time to finish it or not.
At 4:15 PM we received a call stating the repair was complete and we could pick it up. So, we paid by phone $363.
Later that night around 7:30 PM we went to pick up the car, I started the car and was hearing an awful rattling while it’s idling. I got out and looked under. I was appalled by what I was witnessing. The muffler was against heat shield, there was 6” pieces of scrap pipe in place of where the muffler flange met the Y-pipe on both sides. It appeared as if a putty or sealer was used at the top of the oversized pipe and 1/2”-3/4” wide welds over the rust. At this point the car was staying and getting addressed in the morning as soon as they opened.
At approximately 7:35 AM I spoke to manager Zach and gave him my opinion, so he stated he would immediately pull it back in and call me back. When he called back about 20min later he proceeded to try and give me a logical excuse, that “yes it doesn’t look pretty butt it’s fixed”. I gave him my irritated opinion where he decided to shut me down saying I’m getting out of line and doesn’t guarantee any of the welds, no one can in this business. They fixed the rattle by removing the heat shield. Hopefully that doesn’t do any damage above the intended protection. Says they do work like that everyday in that fashion. This is a manager that needs correction or termination.
Just don’t go here 😭 especially if you’re a female. A grown man came out, stared at me and said I had the WORST oil leak he has ever seen in his life. After they couldn’t rip me off on 2 other things on my car. I had 3 MECHANICS look at this car before I bought it and the audacity of this guy to say this. THEN when I proceeded to call a customer line, the GM called me and literally didn’t even PRETEND (not that he even cared) to be shocked when I told him of the awful behavior. (Not to mention an employee mocked a female after getting off the phone with her in the back). You do you pookies 💅 ✨ but I’m leaving this bad review.
Went in there today to get my oil changed, much higher price than what they quoted me over the phone, Even though I told them the model and make a year of my vehicle, and it was the same person over the phone.
Charged me an additional $15 for looking to fix all these problems with my brake pads. I didn't ask for diagnosis. Honestly, I don't believe that my car has the problems. They say that it does, but I will take it to the mechanic I trust and see what he says.
During the entire time he was very snobby with me and looked down on me for not knowing anything about how cars work, which I thought was the whole point of taking it into a mechanic, why would I know anything about how that works if I was going to a mechanic?.
He also lectured me for not paying attention to the lights on my dashboard that I had never seen show up before, I am also looking at my dashboard right now as I type this and I don't see them now.
Very unprofessional. Will not be returning to this store or any other Midas for that matter. Jiffy lube was way nicer to me.
Beware of midas on University Ave Cedar Falls Iowa. They absolutely are not qualified to replace brakes. After having them replace pads and rotors on my car I had to take it to the dealership to have them fixed properly. I was amazed the dealership was 40% cheaper!!
