Poorly run store and poor customer service. A week prior, I bought about a dozen small metric bolts and washers and after checking, they ended up being the wrong size. After entering the store, I went to the customer service desk with the bag of bolts/washers to return. The Service Desk employee did not greet me but just scanned all the bolts/washers and said he could not return one of the bag of washers. I asked him why, he shrugged his shoulders and handed me a store credit voucher. I asked for a manager to see why they could not return the washers. I stepped aside and after around 10 minutes, the up front manger came over from checkout area and waited on me. After going through the computer, she figured out they did not scan one bag of washers when i checked out a week prior. I said not a big deal, but the customer service employee did not want to figure out what happened and just stood there and smiled while the up front manager helped me. After she went through and figured out they checker made a mistake a week prior when i got checked out. She had to leave abruptly after being called on her radio, so I asked for a store manager to file a complaint against the store employee at the service counter. I expressed how important it is to check people out accurately and that is important to greet customers when entering and leaving the checkouts. I wasted a half our over 79 cents plus tax. The store manger did not seem all the interested in what I had to say, but did listen to me. I want to tell management, no worries, i just got a COSTCO membership and will not be shopping at Menards as often going forward. I used to be a weekly shopper of Menards, but no more!

the mulch and other outdoor garden supplies here have good prices and the employees are helpful and knowledgeable in directing you to the location of the items in the store (helpful since its a large footprint with all their items and easy to get lost)
Early Aug of 2023, I purchased black cabinets(9 total), or at least that's what I thought I had purchased for $3500. When I picked them up and got them home, I had 8 beige boxes and shelves and 9 black doors. I immediately called the St Ann,Mo store and spoke to Richard( the consultant who sold me my order. I explained how I didn't get what I asked for nor purchased. He goes on to tell me that I needed to purchased several items to make the cabinets look black😳. I said that wasn't discussed or mentioned to me by you at the time of purchase. I had to make 5 total return trips to Menards because I was missing items to complete my cabinets or the wrong part was ordered.
I asked several people at the store if I could get some kind of monetary compensation since I'm having to pay someone( TOTAL OF $2000) to keep returning to my home to finish working on the cabinets. Everyone kept telling me no but I can email customers service.
So I did email customer service and was placed in contact with a guy name Ray responded with this.." It's my responsibility to check all items before leaving the store". I said and it's the consultant responsibility to make sure that I'm adequately being charged for the correct items in which i ordered. He then said there's nothing that can be done as Menards has the lowest prices in town. I stated that I was being brushed off and wanted to speak with a manager or higher up. He stop responding to my emails. So rude and unprofessional. To know this is how Menards allow their representatives act towards customers is sad!
I am a first time homeowner and decided to go with Menards because they had the fastest turn around time on cabinet delivery. But knowing what I know now, I wish I kept my $5500. I felt taking advantage of. I won't recommend Menards to anyone. It's sad this how customers get treated when they spend their hard earned savings/ money.

Went there yesterday to get paint and although the person helping me had a good enough attitude, he was not very knowledgeable on how to get the paint the color I wanted. In the end he eventually got it, but I waited 30-45 mins for a can of paint with 10 mins, of me waiting for him to figure out what the person ahead of me whom had been waiting for a while per her complaint, wanted. Other than this experience, my experiences have been nothing short of great at this store. I was at the St. ANN location. I will definitely be going back because I found the perfect light to hang in my new closet. The hardest part is choosing which one to get!
The cashier Bridget was very nice, pleasant, and cordial. We talked about Hollywood movies while they tried get my store-credit voucher to work. Her personality made up for the customer service manager who wrongly assumed I was trying to use a voucher twice... I hope that one was just having a bad day.
