Iowa Veterans Home

It seemed like a nice place for veterans to stay. There were many things for the patients to do, and I heard no complaints about the food. In fact I was told that the food was very good. Everyone seemed friendly and the place was exceptionally well cleaned. Nobody seemed bored. But it was my first, and only visit so far. Keep up the good work.

It seemed like a lovely place at first. As time went on items started going missing from my grandmothers room. Items that had sentimental and monetary value. My grandmother had a beautiful necklace that she never ever took off since before I was born. It was very meaningful to her and what do you know it turned up “missing” during Covid when no one was allowed in there. It got to the point where grandma was trying to hide her belongings inside of socks and tucked into drawers in hopes that it wouldn’t be taken. So sad that it got to that point. There were numerous times she needed to be seen by a doctor and it wasn’t taken care of until we asked over and over again. If you plan to send a family member here be sure you are checking in on them often and do not send anything with them that may be of sentimental or monetary value.

Excellent housing and very well staffed to take care of our Veterans. My sister n Law, lives there and the staff takes excellent care of her.

I love visiting here to see my grandfather! The facility is huge and grandpa says there are a lot of activity options and ways to stay busy. I love that I’m able to bring my dog to visit him as well because he loves dogs! The staff are super friendly and helpful! The only thing he dislikes is that he isn’t allowed to smoke when he wants to…now I’m a no smoker but to tell someone who has smoked for their whole life that they cant is so tough when they are grown adults who grew up in a different time.

My dad lives here and to they take good care of him
