We were in from out of state and so happy to see this Hooters near our hotel. Unfortunately our visit was not good. We were quickly greated at the door by a server and seated (coincidentally, in her section).
My wife offered a glass of wine and the fried pickles appetizer. I tried to order a draft beer and was told that all of the drafts were out. No problem, I'll take bottle A and if you don't have that bottle B. Our server brought my wife her wine and told me they had neither bottles A or B. She then informed me of the bottles she knew they had and I had no problem with bottle C. Our fried pickles came out and I reminded her that I was still waiting for a beer. She apologized, said they are slammed (the restaurant was about 1/3 to maybe 1/2 full but I do not know what their staffing is regularly like so maybe they were short staffed) and she'd be right back. Momentarily she returns and informs me that bottle C was actually something different but it turned out to be one if my favorite beers so it's all good I'll take bottle D. She asked if we wanted to place our food order and I told her as soon as she brings that beer over we will. Now, back to the pickles, they were BAD. The fried pickles is one of our favorite things from Hooters but these were just poorly prepared. They were obviously previously cooked and then flash re-fried to get them hot because the temperature was all over the place and the breading was beyond crispy to the point of hard as salad croutons. But the good news is I finally got my beer.
We ordered the combo tenders & wings, boneless for me, bone in for my wife, with an order of curly fries and cheese sauce. My food came out, with the fries and sauce fairly quickly. The server explained to my wife that her wings were still in the fryer but would be out in a few. It took WAY more than a few, and about a half dozen apologies from our server, for my wife's food to come out, probably about nearly 20 minutes (if you had any idea it was going to be that long of a delay you should have explained that to us and held up my food also).
As a kind gesture or server brought us each a dessert, of our choosing, from an array of individual choices, which was nice.
We asked for our bill and when I looked at it I had to bring it to our servers attention. I would have loved to just pay it but it was obviously not ours, it was for one side item and the total was around $5. She couldn't thank us enough and proceeded to print out our correct bill of almost $60.
When I walked up to this filthy entryway, I should have followed my instincts and went somewhere else for my birthday lunch. This place has severely gone downhill. It's filthy inside and out, completely run down. It's very obvious that the mangers don't care or they don't have a manager. The food was greasy, boneless wings were chewy, the sweet tea tasted like city water (chlorine), and the Celery had brown ends, which was ridiculous considering I asked for fresh Celery when we ordered. The thick clear coat on the table was pealing off with food particals under it. The bathroom was very disgusting with dried up vomit around the toilet. I will NEVER come back to this location again!
Great atmosphere, out of all the other Hooters locations I’ve visited this facility has THE BEST food to date! Waitresses are friendly, attentive and on point with making sure everyone is satisfied with your visit. Cheyenne is my go to at this location, funny, sweet and very easy to talk to! Other notable awesome servers there are Jamie and Tori. Regardless of who you have or what you eat this spot is a must if you’re in the area!
The visit started out good and had a chance to be salvaged…
The waitress started out friendly. During the visit she was attentive, but a bit distracted. She needed reminding on some things- like our Hooter Punch (it was the second to last thing to arrive on our table), and mustard for our burgers. By the end of the visit she was very timid. It was as if the manager who stepped in at one point had reprimanded her.
The cheese sticks were delicious. I wish I’d eaten more of them, and less of everything else.
The pretzel bites were over cooked and tough. The cheese dip too spicy for me to enjoy. By the time there was mustard on the table I’d moved past them. I did not say anything about the pretzel bites. I just packed them up.
Our Hooter Punch was very tasty.
We ordered two kids meals. One with boneless chicken and fries. Another with burger sliders and salad. Somehow, this got interpreted to be a salad on the side. The sliders and boneless wings were tasty. A salads a salad. The fries was our biggest issue! Two helpings so hard they didn’t even crunch! The waitress brought us another batch. They were hot, but sadly just as hard. We ate maybe four or five of them. It was brought to the waitress’ attention.
Then came our cheesecake dessert. She was very antsy to bring it. Maybe she was worried she would forget. The portion size was small! Half the size of previous portions we’d usually receive. I also discreetly brought it to her attention there was a hair on my slice. She brought me a slice (which sadly was smaller than the first).
Then came the bill. It was a mess. After discussing a few things with the waitress she asked for a minute. Then out came the ‘manager’. she felt the need to inform me she’d worked for Hooters for 10 years adults don’t get kids meals. Really!! I’ve been ordering them for seven years with no complaints!! Then said our drinks were included because of the adult cups we were given (we didn’t ask for them). She tried telling me that she didn’t need to discount the fries since they were included in the kids meal and I’m only paying $6 for it. Really! I didn’t eat the fries. Why am I paying for something we couldn’t and didn’t eat! In the end the drinks came off the bill and she discounted us $9.99. Not sure how I feel in the end.
Afterward the waitress brought the bill over. She then awkwardly waited while we gathered the money to pay. I felt like we were paying watched incase we decided to get up and just leave. Which we wouldn’t of. After returning with our card, and a brief wait we got drink lids.
At no point were we asked about refills for our drinks.
Over all a so -so visit. Not a visit that makes me want to return to this location to dine in. I’d rather order to go and eat in my car.
- I’d like to add that if it’s become some loony policy to not allow me to eat kids meals anymore I won’t be ordering my appetizers and alcohol. My bill will go from $40-$50 to $15-$20. You let me know if it’s worth it…

My favorite Hooters in Jacksonville. The servers are so down to earth. The wings are always on point. The cooks do their thang every time I go.
