Chedraui

This Chedraui is usually less crowded than the one on the south end of town. It has a good selection of items. I have never gotten bad meat from here. The butchers are friendly even with my limited spanish. For some reason they have decided to turn some of aisles 90 degrees. This is a ridiculous layout. Makes you walk in circles looking for things. You will see what I mean when you go. If not for that I would give a higher rating.

Although at early morning not many customers in the market, long queues at the cash registers. Only a few check out lanes were staffed. They don't understand their business. The other frustrating matter is the inaccurate price tags. Better always check the prices at the scanning stations, if they work at all. My recommendation: Either visit the other Chedraui at Petempich road, much better managed, or visit Walmart at Petempich, although they also have a problem with incorrect price tags.

While visiting my niece in Playa on March 26, 2022 we came to get a few basics for breakfast. We were browsing in the bakery department and saw the most racist, insensitive and totally unacceptable thing. Some cupcakes had been decorated using blackface. My family and I were horrified. How could a company allow such a racist thing be sold knowing that black people from all nations are spending their hard earned money only to be disrespected. Chedraui owes the Black community an apology and should be educating their employees on the history behind such offensive characters. Racism should not be tolerated anywhere.

Bigger, better selection than the Chedraui Selecto downtown. Minus points for very slow checkout (I wouldn't recommend buying frozen things here) and a live cockroach crawling down the aisle. :(
