Great hiking and outdoors store in Bar Harbor! Clearly one of the best and most comprehensive stores after looking into others. Some prices are a bit more expensive than retail, but the benefit is you have it today. Some of the brands are harder to find online. Definitely worth popping into to check out hiking shoes, tents, backpacks, lots of gear, suits, sunglasses, etc!
My son and I both refer to this place as our favorite toy store. We end up window shopping 90% of the time, but you know that whatever you get there is good quality. This time we did get a couple things we needed. The pack my wife got was a big hit for her. She liked it so much better than the one she has been using for about 4 years.
If you like the outdoors and good equipment then your eyes will light up like a kid in a candy store the minute you walk in.
Such a great store and amazing customer service. I was recently visiting Bar Harbor with my family and purchased a pair of sneakers from Cadillac. Turns out they didn’t fit just right but Andy and his team went above and beyond to help me process the return all the way from NYC. A+ customer service, great product, highly recommended for all of your outdoor needs.
Wow. I can't remember the last time I felt so disrespected. I went in looking for a women's backpacking pack for an upcoming week-long trip. I asked the front register attendant if the women's packs were separate from the men's since I only saw men's packs on the shelf. He told me they were mixed and that I could only tell the difference by looking at the tags. I pointed out that they were 8 ft in the air and I couldn't reach. He handed me a pole and said " you can reach." And then walked away. So I took my pole and poked through the osprey bags to see if I could find an Aura or other women's bag. They only had osprey, and I know all the women's brands of osprey so it should have been easy. They didn't have any, so I went back to the register, handed over my pole and said thanks, but it looks like they didn't have any bags. A female sales rep said that was untrue and went to get another attendant who she said knew more. A third person showed up and asked what I was looking for. I said I wanted a women's bag and he told me those didn't exist. I said they most certainly did and that he appeared to not have any. I then mentioned the name of a couple of osprey women's bags that I was looking for and they did not have. He asked me if I could even name the difference between a women's bag and a men's bag and so I proceeded to tell him about the difference of torso size and different padding that a woman's bag would need based on the anatomy of how women held weight. He then grabbed a tag on one of the osprey bags, flipped it over and told me that because it did not say men's on it, it was clearly unisex and that proved that there were only unisex bags. I honestly have no words. I have been backpacking for multiple decades and to be told that there is no such thing as a woman's backpacking bag and that I don't know what I'm talking about when I'm trying to get help purchasing one is something that I did not expect to experience at a store specializing in camping. I'm honestly not even sure what the point of the third agents comments to me were. I should have just left when I was handed the pole.
I was so impressed by the selection and quality of the items, and the friendly, professional service. Also impressed by the size of the store, given its location. Definitely a good place to shop for sports and supplies for outdoor activities.
