I've been to CBG four times and now consider it my go to late night spot in Portland. From the moment you enter the door you're greeted with friendly and welcoming staff. They're attentive and spot on with service, even when it's bustling in there. The atmosphere is kitschy in the best way and the food has a sense of elevation and attention to detail that I was pleasantly surprised by. Everything I've had there has been excellent. CBG has a following and although part of me wants to keep it a secret, it deserves a big shout out. I'm so glad they're part of the Portland scene.
We stopped here during lunch time, so we cannot really comment on the evening experience. It's a basic old-time bar and grill with a kitschy 1980's atmosphere with old camping movies playing from the 1980's. The lunchtime waiter/server was nice. The menu is limited. During nice weather, they offer outdoor seating on the sidewalk. Fish and chips was super fresh and fantastic! The Pork Schnitzel was way over-cooked and hard.
Overall, the atmosphere is fun, especially if you want to take a trip into the 80s! the food is nothing to write home about
Great place that's a dive bar but is clean and the bar tenders are so friendly! Went around 8pm though so not sure how crazy it can get but it started getting busy when we left around 9 on a Saturday. Movies and TV silent with captions and we didnt eat but I've heard the bar food is good!
Food was good, the atmosphere of the place is unique and very pleasant. Simple food done well. Prices are extremely reasonable, two adults were fed well for under $30, definitely worth checking out.
The food here tastes great and is prepared with attention. The menu is very cool with something for everyone. They have a large selection of beer and wine and they make great drinks. Prices are reasonable and the place screams to homies, drinkers and music lovers alike. Sit near Lebowski, get a Hamms and chill or sidle up to the bar, eat Mac and cheese and drink manhattans, the saying goes “as you go, we go.” The real winner here? The staff. They’re cool and happy and they smile.
