Buckley's Tavern

My first time visiting. It was the lunch stop for the bus tour I was on for Longwood gardens. What an excellent dining experience with great food and service. Especially considering it was a party of over 40 people! I had the quiche which had a salad of spring lettuce as a side. Dessert was the best. An apple crumb but the top was a ginger sauce cookie with the apple pie filling under and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Yummy 😋

9/01/23 Dinner. Here are my impressions, I hope they help. It's an amazing place, but the low ceilings put the air conditioning right on top of you if you pick the wrong table. We had to move to a booth bc of the air. Parking was a chore. We were told to arrive early to have time to find a spot on the street. It turned out to be good advice. For dinner, my wife got the mushroom soup appetizer, which was good, but for me, it could have been better if it had more cream in it. You could taste the mushrooms, but I thought it should have been creamier. I got the spicy thai noodle soup, and that was excellent. We shared the pan seared barnegat scallops, and they were so good I regretted having to share them with the wife! A very good dinner with elements that were excellent; that is, once you parked and found a good table. Excellent: Uniquely satisfying. A special place. Very Good: Better than expected. Average: An everyday experience. Just OK. Fair: Below par. Dirty smells. & / or flies.

Great experience all around. The atmosphere is wonderful. Quaint and intimate. Colonial decor. Service was excellent. The waiter accidently dropped my brother-in-law's burger so they brought him free chips and comped him a free dessert. The food was great. Portion size was generous. Everyone in our party enjoyed their selection. Free parking. Easy to find. Great location. Close to Winterthur.

Buckley's, in Centerville , DE. is a destination in itself, just south of the PA. state line. It's known for it's "comfort food", but the comfort food is made with the touch of a great chef. The meatloaf (blend of beef, pork and veal) is the best in the Tri State area.

Celebrated mom and dad's anniversary with a mid-day lunch. Apps included Cheese Stake Eggrolls, Nachos and Ceasar Salads. All apps were delicious. Nachos were perfect and crunchy. Housemade dressing for the salad was on point! Mom loved the salad so much, she ordered it again but as an entrée and then ordered Crab cakes to go (not pictured) and said they were delicious and was impressed. They didn't have a ton of filler. Dad had the French Dip and said it was good (not pictured). He did not care for the dipping sauce, it was was actually darker than expected. I ordered the Reuben, and it was soooo good! I'd recommend Buckleys for any occasion.
