Had a problem with a door that would not stay closed due to my woman's mischievous cats messing with it.
So I figured out that the strike plate needed to be adjusted but didn't know how to plug the old holes that it was screwed into... So I thought maybe just get some wood glue or putty or something.
Had someone help me find it fair enough, but then I had a guy named Randall suggest that I just put some matchsticks or some small pieces of wood in the hole and Hammer it in. So that it will be more stable wood, given that the new hole is so close to the old filled up hole.
Sure enough, that worked like a charm!
The cool thing about this is, I literally just pick up a piece of wood off the ground in the parking lot. I did not have to buy a single product from Ace.
That means that this employee was so dedicated the job(helping me), that he literally gave me an option that did not involve me buying anything in the store
Now that's some good old-fashioned, top-of-the-line customer service.
Thanks Randall!

I love this store and the people who run it! In a day and age where internet shopping and big box stores have run the mom-and-pop establishments out of business, I am grateful for Bates. Lewis and his team are excellent. They are knowledgeable and helpful.
They also give away free BBQ on Saturday's!
The next time you need something for your house or garden, I'd encourage you to drive past Home Depot or Lowes, and head on over to Bates. Ask for Lewis. He'll meet you by the Green Egg's with a smile on his face.
A heart of service and practical know-how are two commodities that are in short supply too much the time. They can both be found in abundance at Bates!
I called this certain location because my friend lock was totally busted and Steve the cashier was amazing and pleasant not only on the phone but at the register . I also want to give Randall a should out. He was extremely amazing and came to my rescue. Great team at this location. They even have Pop corn.
What an awesome experience? I was greeted by a joyful middle age gentleman upon entering the store. He directed me to the section for what I was looking for. When I arrived in that section 2 different associates asked if I needed help. I thought I was fine, but realized by the 2nd request I needed help. Expert help & they allowed me to exit & test fit the nuts & bolts for my application before I bought them. Great staff all around! I went back for honey & will definitely patronize this store again.
Ace is no longer the place for helpful Hardware folks. Went to buy replacement battery for gate fob. Was told if they touched the fob it would be a 12 dollar fee. I asked where to find the battery I needed. I needed to use a small small Phillips head to open fob. That would be the 12 dollar fee. So let me get this straight...I pay 27% more for my Hardware needs so I can get help but now I pay 27% or more for my Hardware needs & pay extra for help. So I went to Amazon and payed 5.99 plus tax for the battery (it came w/ 2) I used my Phillips head to open the fob. Done. And I don't want to go back to the terribly grumpy folks @ Bates Ace on Howell Mill, ATL 303178
