We arrived about 1030 am and was able to park easily. Some of the exhibitions were being moved or renovated, so we didn't get to see everything. I think the signage and maps could be better so use Google maps on your phone to navigate.
I do recommend renting a cycle of some sort to get around if you are not used to walking longer distances. The giraffe feeding was the highlight of the visit for us.
It's a tranquil experience. Would highly suggest getting the cycles. They are worth the money spent and can be fun! We saw some but not all animals. I wouldn't suggest visiting in cold weather as the animals can be lethargic and out of sight.
It is a fun family time and worth the visit.
This is a pretty awful zoo. It comes pretty close to the worst zoo I’ve been to but that spot is reserved for Toronto zoo. The exhibits are limited and you don’t get much information on the animals there. The only positive is the self cycle carts they have. Parking is plentiful and it’s not really crowded but don’t expect to see much.
We visited on a Monday afternoon in December with a few hours to enjoy before we caught our flight. It was $118 for 5 people (over 12 y/o), but we discovered Groupon discounts after we paid 🤦. This is a really good zoo with many many interesting animals. The enclosures are appropriately sized for the animals and it's easy to view the animals from multiple areas. The animals appear to be well cared for and there was quite a lot of staff around. The place is quite large, so wear comfortable clothing and good walking shoes. Snacks and drinks can be pricey, but seemed on part with what I've been charged at similar attractions.
Side note: invasive species of lizards as well as native birds are running around everywhere and are a lot of fun to watch. They provide interest on the (sometimes) long walks between exhibits.
I loved the Miami zoo! It is huge. We spent 6 hours there and probably did 75% of the zoo. I loved all the tropical landscaping and plants throughout the zoo and the Amazon section with the giant fresh water fish and giant otters. I had never seen those before so they stood out a lot. Since the zoo is so big, they should definitely add shuttles or build a new tram because it takes so long to walk everywhere. But overall I liked it a lot and would go back.
