Huge zoo, very clean and well maintained. Lots of sections separating different types and regions of animals and species. Most animals were active and playful when we visited. Plenty of restrooms in every corner of the zoo.
There’s a wonderful children section in the zoo. There’s petting animal, carousels, train ride, playground and tree climbing. Carousel and train require separate ticket, $3 per person.
It takes about 2-3 hours to fully explore the zoo. There’s a cafe and bunch of small vendors around the zoo. The gift shop is pretty nice, got lots of zoo specific merchandise.
Cool place. We went mostly because of the pandas (who were adorable) but seen lots of other amazing animals. We really liked all the bamboo. There are multiple places to get food from which is also great. Lots of merch to choose from. We read lots of interesting information about the animals, including some that were really educational.
We found that some animals have rather small places for themselves (like the bald eagle, but the “big cats” could benefit from more space as well).
Many tablets in the reptile house didn’t work so we had no idea what animal we were looking at (or what we should’ve found as many of them disguised themselves too well).
I think it would also be practical to add signs with numbers to the various areas of the too to make orientation easier. It’s too easy to miss certain zones unless someone consults the map all the time.
Overall we had a great time and it seemed like the animals are well cared for.
Zoo hits hard for its size. The pandas are the last in the US and they always put on a show. Giant otters were super cool to see. I was very pleased even with the higher admission compared to other zoos I have been to recently.
Came here with my family for the Illuminights Chinese lantern festival for the first time and had a wonderful time! It wasn't crowded at all and I enjoyed the numerous refreshments around the zoo. The lanterns were breathtaking and I was surprised at how many there were. I would definitely recommend going to the festival whether it's solo, with family, or on a date. You will not regret it!
If you're an animal lover, this is an absolute paradise! They've created a beautifully maintained haven, perfectly suited to cater to the interests of every type of animal. The level of detailed information provided about each species is truly impressive. The Zoo staff are not only friendly but incredibly passionate about their work. I was especially thrilled to see their commitment to a Zero plastic policy throughout the property.
You can easily lose yourself in the wonders of the Zoo for an entire day. The kids were over the moon with excitement! The Zoo also offers a handful of adorable gift shops, delightful eateries, and immaculate restrooms. And don't forget, there's a wonderful park nearby waiting to be explored! This place is an absolute gem!
