This place is so pretty and the trails are really easy. The history of this site is quite interesting as well. The parking lot is little, but manageable. There is a small orchard along the trails and several ways to get down to the water. Bring your kids or you pups or both! We also saw several older folks enjoying the hiking areas without any problems. Lovely stop!

Really quite place to explore and dog friendly. I was surprised how many people were here on a week day after noon . It's a nice spot right outside of town.

A lovely park with sweeping meadows. A short gravel park that has branches off into the meadows.

The oyster middens are a must-see for an impressive clue to the great Native American nations that lived in this area for thousands of years before the Europeans arrived. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because it's too easy to miss as you drive through the north end of Damariscotta. It's right on Main St, across the street from the Great Salt Bay Elementary School.

Well maintained park takes you either in a small loop down to the water, or slightly longer trail that brings a few storefronts down. The trail brings you to a view of the oyster shell deposits across the river. It's not the greatest view and perhaps there are some on the trail side but I didn't see them. Nice prairie that you walk through that was planted for monarch butterflies.
