This place is amazing. I found them by a simple Google search and boy am I glad we did! It's definitely going to be a yearly tradition, we've already booked for next year. Stacey and her husband are very friendly and helpful and the wildlife literally come right up to you. Our kids made some memories this weekend and didn't want to leave. I don't know if we can wait a whole year to return! If you're wondering if you should, 1000% book it!

I've stayed at these cabins for over 15 years, almost always in the same one and often several times a year; and this was by far the worst experience. I've never really had a bad experience until this trip so I feel bad writing this but I don't see how I can't. When checking in we were told there might be a "slight" propane like odor but to just run the shower and open the bathroom window for a few minutes and it would clear out. I didn't think anything of it as I know this happens when drains aren't used frequently. We got to the cabin and the smell was more than slight and took a couple of hours to clear. I should add there was a dead mouse on a sticky trap in the kitchen which makes me wonder if the managers even checked the cabin before we checked in... But that is almost forgettable after everything else we experienced. We went to bed, closing the doors and windows, and woke up gagging on the methane gas fumes coming up from the septic system. We ended up spending most of the night outside on the deck with no options because management shuts the phone off at night (understandable to a certain extent.) When we finally got a hold of the managers, they did immediately make it right. Luckily there was another cabin available but even then it wasn't for the full duration of our stay and we had to make other arrangements for the last night of our vacation. When the septic company came to pump the original cabin, they came over and pumped our new one and told us that if they hadn't pumped it, we would have ended up with backed up septic in our bathroom that night! Imagine moving from one bad situation to a worse one?? We were credited for the first (miserable) night and for the night we couldn't stay, and not charged extra for the upgraded cabin which I wouldn't expect to be, but there's no way to make up for the lost sleep, lack of ambition to enjoy the area after a night of no sleep, and pretty much ruining of our once a year vacation. Again, the managers made it right as best they could and nothing could replace those things so I don't fully blame them... but they also told us that the cabin has had issues, needs a new septic, etc... The owners of the cabin, the managers, and the owners association should have long ago made the decision not to rent that cabin until the owner has the work done. We were asked to smell the original cabin again before we left after they did some quick fixes on it and we couldn't even put a foot in the door without the smell knocking us back. Quick fixes aren't the answer and the owners need to be more responsible in maintaining their properties. They should also require septic pump outs far more often than every few years (or more from what we're told!) in a place with that much use and who knows what kind of abuse is done to those systems by people who don't care because it isn't theirs! That being said, the managers are very friendly and accommodating. The camps are quiet and peaceful as usual, and for the most part well maintained. No issues with cleanliness or any other such issues. This rests solely on the cabin's owner.

I have stayed at the "Lodge" at Tomhegan several times. It is a place of beauty, solace, and peacefulness that I haven't experienced anywhere else in the world. I have spent all four seasons there and have found things to keep me busy every time. If you are looking for a place to have a family reunion, wedding reception, or just take the family on a bonding vacation, this is THE place to go. Feeding the deer is awesome! The local wildlife is all around and you will never get tired of just watching the lake with a drink in hand. Enjoy this place and put it on your bucket list now!

Tomhegan Wilderness Cabins is a serene place. It's hard to find a similar experience in the northeast if your goal is to get away from the hustle and bustle. We stayed in the rustic cabin Diana. The cabin was clean and included the essential amenities. My wife and I had a great time!

This place is almost magical. There is really no place like Tomhegan. My parents introduced me to it many years ago and I have since introduced my husband and later, our children to it. Now they look forward to it as much as I do.
