The Preserve at Grand View Lodge

The preserve has a solid layout but struggled with dry grass when I went. The course has good views and high elevation tee shots. The staff were ver friendly and service orientated.

This place was fantastic! Beautiful course with a lot of elevated tees. Everywhere is a beautiful view. The greens are pretty fast, so be ready for that! Everything is kept up very nice. The ranger was a sweetheart and let us sneak in a little early so we didn’t have to pair up with another 2some. The cart girl was a riot. The carts are awesome as they keep a digital scoreboard and let you know how close to the hole you are, which helped a lot when you couldn’t see.

One of the finest courses in MN. The service is great, the course is great, and there isn’t a bad thing to say. The course is very challenging, but pace of play has been good. We played in late April and I’m sure mid summer is even more beautiful. I’ll be back!

It's a fun course and the price is what it is. $129 does include free range balls and cart. No tacked on expenses is a good thing. The course itself is pretty fun, but I probably wouldn't play it again. The cons: course greens are to be lacking right now. They are trying to repair them, but for the price, it never should have gotten bad in the first place. It's worth a try, but when Deacons is just a bit further down the road for about the same price, treat yourself. On a side note, the ranger can chill a bit. He was polite and doing his job, but I was out with my father on fathers day weekend. It took us 5 hours (I know it's on the slow side, but not bad for fathers day weekend), and we were told to hurry up/play as fast as you can. It just ruined the vibe for no reason. No one was waiting us. Then we ran into the league (or large group) which I doubt they were told to speed up even though we were waiting on them.

Best overall experience of a week in central Minnesota. Everything was outstanding, from the staff (always helpful, friendly, attentive) to the range, restaurant/bar, and course. Course was in *superb* condition from tee to green. Tee-time spacing one of the best I've seen. Never felt pushed, and we never pushed. The Cragun's Lehman experience was terrible (walked off after 9 due to extremely slow play). If that was a "2", The Preserve rates a "9.5". Half a point deducted for forcing the young staff out front to engage in meaningless chit-chat for which it was clear they had no interest (though they were still incredibly friendly)! But that's a minor point, and did not detract whatsoever from the overall experience. Played three times just because it was the best overall experience in the area. Full credit to the senior management and the terrific club pro, who went out of his way to help at every opportunity. Nice to see such a well-run organization, without having the "keep cranking the money machine" feeling that you get at Cragun's and some other corporate monster places.
