The Maids in New York City

I called The Maids to do a deep clean on an empty apartment. I expected the place to be move-in ready, but overall I’m disappointed by the service. Started out as positive experience: The Maids were very responsive and able to book me for same day service after my initial booking canceled last minute. They had lower rates than most other places I called. They finished after a little over an hour and I was surprised at how efficient they were! We walked through the apartment and called out some missed spots (in the fridge, on the cabinets, etc) and they quickly wiped them down. Turned into a negative experience: However, upon closer inspection after my move in, we realized they mainly did a light dusting and quick mopping, as things were still dirty. They missed cleaning things like light switches, door handles, and shower curtain rods. Here’s a picture of what I swept out from under the bathroom sink. We didn’t specifically ask them to do these things, but I expected the professionals would know, especially since there is a 2-hour minimum and they had plenty of time to spare. However we did ask them to wipe down the kitchen cabinet shelves and we found those to still be pretty dirty. We decided to splurge and hire cleaners so we could focus on packing, but in the end it made our move even more stressful. We had expected to dive straight into unpacking, but instead needed to re-clean the whole apartment with boxes and furniture in the way.

They were supposed to do a deep proper clean in a an empty house. After an hour and half they left and the house was not cleaned at all! Even the blinds were still filthy! I was very disappointed especially for the price I paid. I gave one star for the boss who was quick to respond when booking. If you need a light dust and sweep they are great for the job.

I've tried so many cleaning people and services in this city and The Maids are worth their weight in gold. They're so professional and fast. My house is literally spotless when they leave. I love that I always get the same team and they know my place and how I like things done. They arrive on time with all the supplies, so I never need to worry. They're pricier than others out there, but worth every penny!

At first, I was very leery about having strangers in my home. I could not clean the way I once did and needed help so I tried them! I had deep cleaning done and I could not believe how fast and kind and professional they were. I would recommend them to everyone and anyone that wanted a great cleaning done in there home. They went right to work and wasted no time getting the job done. I had Berenis and Elaine. I can't say more wonderful things about the as, I was so happily surprised by the both of then. This service is excellent and I plan on using them for maintaining my home. It just feels so good to have a sparkling clean home with strangers that have become friends. They were priced on the high side but I did get 4 people who were all very friendly and thorough and fast/efficient. 2 hours for a 1 bedroom/2 bath apartment. They did an excellent job with stubborn stains in a bathtub and on a bathroom floor. Both look like new and since the tub is 30 years old and the floor is fifteen, that is an achievement! The kitchen floor could have been a little bit better. There were some tiny, black bumps remaining which I was able to scratch off with my fingernail (a putty knife probably could have done the job.) However, to their credit, the kitchen floor had been extremely dirty before they came and whatever they used to clean the floor probably loosened up the bumps enough for me to spend a few minutes removing after they left. I would have pointed it out to them during the inspection and I am sure they would have fixed but I had to get on my hands and knees to see and I did not notice until they left. They left everything in the apartment in exactly the same spot where I had things, including the medicine cabinets, which is great because some places are very sloppy when putting items back. I would recommend them!
