This place is incredible! I won't stay anywhere else in Cerritos when I come back. Lots of character and good energy here, plus a great covered common space with a well built kitchen. We actually stayed in multiple nights just to make use of the kitchen and dining room- so fun. You're walking distance to the beach, hills, a little tienda, bars, etc. plus Rachelle the manager is so helpful and kind. I can't recommend it enough!

Amazing place to stay with friends or family. With your own palapa for dining or drinks and an entire kitchen to prepare your meals and share your stories of your days adventures. Pool on the way too, what more could you ask for. Rachele the onsite manager is just brilliant.

If you crave the Pacific Ocean, respect the land and the people, enjoy sustainable luxury or are otherwise responding to The Call of the Baja Sur, then book LosCardones. Located a few miles south of an Energy Nexus, a gushing water source and the Tropic of Cancer; on a perfect point break suited for all manner of ocean enthusiasts, LosCardones carves a blissful retreat out of the sheer Baja desert. Freshly remodeled after Hurricane Odile reorganized the whole coastline, LosCardones is stylish and sustainable; generating its energy solely by solar (power output accommodates up to 15 guests) and capturing greywater for the baby groves. LosCardones are three ocean facing structures. The main hotelito is two stories with four balconied suites which boast picturesque desert ocean views. The hotelito sits adjacent to the Palapa which consists of a cantina, lounge, kitchen, bathrooms and shower for pre/post beach rinsing. Just uphill is the Bodega, on top of which sits the fifth suite. All five suites are clean, sealed from bugs and have traditional leather-bound, southwest furnishings. The Rooms contain comfortable beds dressed in silky linens, fresh terra cotta floors, vaulted ceilings, local decor, and large clean bathrooms. The oversized showers are stocked with soft towels and toiletries, and filtered water. The maid service comes every three days, so be sure to request any cleaning utensils (e.g. a broom) from the site host Ron. Unpack at your leisure, while laughing at how you “just found the coolest spot in Cerritos”, then saunter past the greywatered Palms and desert-scape gardens up the stairs into the Palapa. If you don’t get sucked into the hammocks and the ocean vista, be sure to proceed straight to the agave tequila rack for a celebratory Don Julio. (NOTE: If you plan to imbibe, pre-purchase alcohol inexpensively at the Costco in Los Cabos.) Just beyond the Cardones Cantina you’ll find the spacious, self-serve kitchen with an industrial range, sharp knives, and plenty of counter space to organize taco parties. (NOTE: Buy fresh fish and produce daily in Pescadero and Todos Santos.) Unless you hire a chef and cleaning services for your stay, make sure to clean up after yourself in the kitchen. A clean kitchen is polite to other visitors! Most likely, ¡Ronaldo the Great, will greet you upon arrival, set you up with your keys and suite, give you a tour and square up any administrative issues. As he will be your main site host, be sure to make acquaintances with him. He gives advice on activities, addresses concerns about LosCardones, and brews the best cup of coffee at dawn on the Baja! If you surf, you’re stoked, Ron knows the break. I watched him catch air and get barreled on the same wave! Paddle out with him if he gives you the chance! Be specific to Ron if you need something (e.g. linens from the maid) or if there is an issue on the property. Ron can help you translate, but don’t confuse him for housekeeping! And remember! You’re in the Baja where solar and septic reign: turn off your lights and do refrain from plugging the toilets with excess paper. Also, wrap and trash all hygiene products. At this point, I know you’re thinking that it sure sounds like management writing this review. It’s not. I’m real. I found this place by the grace of Google and made my way to the doorstep with my soon-to-be fiancé. I was fortunate to arrive when the owners, Baja Beth and San Mateo, were onsite. We listened to them recount the history of LosCardones while sipping tequila and trying to be helpful with the Christmas decorating. Throughout the night, I felt myself becoming enchanted by the Cardones' Aura, and I grew mesmerized by the devotion, the mission, and the dream which the owners share for LosCardones. Being a guest there is a fairy-tale privilege and I ended up showing my gratitude by dragging some polished granite back from the tide pools to help ornament the Agaves. Hopefully this will become tradition! The point is, I will always only ever stay with LosCardones… -Zfresh
