Watch the price of the medicine before paying!!
My recent experience at Farmacia del Ahorro left me feeling frustrated and somewhat taken advantage of. I visited the pharmacy in a rush to purchase medication, selecting this location due to its proximity to the hospital. The ordeal began when I was asked whether I wanted generic or brand name medications. Uncertain, I explained that I needed to consult my doctor for clarification. The pharmacy staff informed me that most of their medications were brand name, and they kindly agreed to start filling the prescription for those while I sought clarification on the others.
After consulting with my doctor, I was advised to purchase only one of the prescribed medications. I thanked the pharmacist for their patience and apologized for the inconvenience. I proceeded to pay for the medication, which, to my surprise, came to nearly 2000 pesos—an amount considerably higher than expected.
Days later, I noticed on the medication packaging that the maximum sale price was marked at 1400 pesos. This discovery left me puzzled and concerned. I decided to return to the pharmacy to seek an explanation for the discrepancy in pricing, given that it was significantly higher than the listed maximum sale price.
To my dismay, the response I received was both disheartening and seemingly dishonest. The pharmacy staff claimed that their system had originally priced the medication higher, but when new lots of the medication arrived, it was priced lower. They insisted that there was nothing they could do to rectify the situation. However, their explanation appeared dubious, leaving me with the impression that I may have been charged a higher price due to my residency in the United States—a situation that I found deeply unfair and unsettling.
I want to caution others against visiting this pharmacy location due to the unsatisfactory experience I encountered. I have taken steps to file a complaint with Profeco, although I have reservations about whether it will yield a satisfactory resolution. In the meantime, I believe it's essential for customers to be aware of potential pricing discrepancies and to exercise caution when dealing with Farmacia del Ahorro.
It is not opened 24h and they do not follow their rules. I went there. There was written that they work until 11pm (not 24h). But even I was earlier it was closed.
They expanded and improved the product selection recently but the staff service is terrible. The service is slow and not very warm. On more than one occasion I have found it closed at times when one would expect it to be in operation. In others it is semi-open but transactions are made through the window, payment only in cash without prior notice.
