I adore this area! I have lived here for over 20+++ years, and it has changed significantly. I am happy to see all these unique stores opening around the community. I have come down here for the weekly saturday farmer's market & local cultural events hosted here. Silver Spring is a diverse community, and it is shown through the art and the people there. Every weekend, you can look forward to a party around the city place mall. There is Tai chi, farmer's market & weekend events happening year round. I love my city and am proud to be a local here. Sign up online or follow downtown silver spring on instagram to stay up to date. That's how I found out about the annual jazz fest, which is a must hear! Recently, our family went down to the annual Thanksgiving parade. It's local, free, and great for family and groups of friends. There is a beautiful mural to walk through from the silver spring metro station entering the city atmosphere, lots of resting areas with artwork. Perfect meeting place for friends and family to get acquainted with some of Maryland city life. Ethnic restaurants, libraries, comic book stores, game centers, movie theatres, ice skating rinks during winter, all your mall shopping needs, and the famous AFI and fillmore Music Center. Yes, you can do a lot of fun things in the center. Please come and visit my city!
Downtown Silver spring has come a long way from when I was a kid to when I lived here in the mid 00's to now. Lots of stores, lots of places to eat and drink as well as places to go and party. Crime unfortunately is starring to get a little worse now but I guess that's to be expected. The mall needs a severe makeover that's the only thing I can suggest.
Know what I love about this place? No boundaries!
Well, technically As an unincorporated census-designated place, Silver Spring's boundaries are not consistently defined. Nor is its category. Is it a neighborhood? Is it a town?? Is it a region? Is it a zip code? Is it an area code? Is it Morse code? (OK, it's almost certainly not that last one.) Is it a city? Is it a Metro stop? You Google it. I'm feeling lazy today.
You know what I DO know, though? Silver Spring, MD was the inspiration for Stevie Nicks to write "Silver Springs," which is enough to make it one of my favorite places EVER! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Very clean and attractive! It reminded me of 1st Ave in Jacksonville Beach and the landing/downtown Jax when they have the art walk! So very colorful and well kept!
The scooter rental station was such a great addition! We don't have anything like that in the area I live.

Grabbed some lunch at BurgerFi one of many restaurants within walking distance of downtown Silver Springs and watched the ice skaters.
