April 9: Update - they finally refunded me after I posted the below review so I’m removing the video of the bed bug.
April 2: I got 16 bed bug bites in late January of 2024 and left immediately once I realized. They apologized and gave me a free breakfast but I still had to put all my belongings in a hot dryer to kill them. It was a complete nightmare. I told them I would give them a decent review if they refunded me and they agreed to refund me. I message them once a week but still no refund - so here’s my honest review. Other people in the beds next to me also saw bugs in their beds. 😣
I absolutely loved my stay at Casa Pepe! The hostal is very well located in the city with lots to do in the area. The accommodations are wonderful as well, I felt very cozy in my bed! And the social atmosphere is amazing! The staff has great walking tours and daily activities like a mezcalitas class, karaoke night and salsa classes! More than anything, the staff is what really made my experience so wonderful! Alejandra and Arturo from reception were so wonderful and helpful. And Diana and Adrian from the terrace restaurant were so attentive and kind! I would be so delighted to return to Casa Pepe again 🥰
Loved my stay at Casa Pepe. Cozy and comfy beds with the safe next to the bed being a plus. Rooftop is awesome and a great place to meet other travelers no matter the time of day, but especially from 6p-7p during the "power hour" and later. Not a party hostel, but a great social hostel. Would definitely stay again.
Casa pepe was my first stop on my trip to Mexico and as a solo traveller it is the best spot to meet new people right off the bat in CDMX! Its central to everything and the walking tours are class! David was an absolutely amazing help during my time here and has definitely been the best host and volunteer I have met in all of Mexico! If I could give 5 stars for the help and advice I'd give that too! :)
Nice location conveniently around Centro and many famous tourist spots & also close to metro and bus lines for easy public transport.
Has a few chill and relaxations spots and also a rooftop bar to meet people, with a decent happy hour from 6-7pm daily drink unlimited draft beer or the daily mix for 100 mxn. Was a bit quieter than some hostels but possibly due to staying around the holiday season.
