Blo Blow Dry Bar

My blowout with Brenda at Blow Dry Bar Detroit was phenomenal! I don’t typically style my hair straight but did this time so it would last longer. She was a professional with extensions. I have very heavy, a pain to blow-dry 3 rows of extensions and she blended them seamlessly.

Loved the service here! I called several days ahead of time to book an appointment and they worked with me to plan the best time for me to come in. I wanted something with loose curls and lots of volume and that's what they delivered. My hair doesn't hold curls well, but these lasted for a fairly long time without feeling sticky with hairspray and they fell out beautifully. I'm definitely visiting another Blo when I need a professional blow out.

I was really appreciative of their willingness to squeeze me in after a competitor in the area had canceled my appointment last minute Easter weekend. I have thick tightly coiled hair and I was still out the door in 1.5 hours when it usually takes 2.5 hours at most blow out salons. My hair turned out beautiful with the right amount of volume and loose curls that lasted all day. My new blow dry bar of choice in the downtown area. Thank you!

AVOID - Go ANYWHERE ELSE. I arrived to my appointment and the stylist refused to wash my hair because I was 9 minutes late trying to find parking. She insisted they have a strict 10 minute late policy but really this woman just didn't want to do her job. After pleading with her to wash my hair for 4 minutes (4 minutes she could've spent washing my damn hair) I cancelled my appointment and left. She accosted me for not booking my appointment with a phone number even though their website doesn't require you to include it! No one from Blo reached out in the days prior requesting a phone number either! Long story short, I walked back to my car and it was only 1:13. She turned me away before I was even 10 minutes late! This woman needs a refresher in hospitality. I'm sure she does not represent the culture of Blo Dry Bar because they're meant to empower you and make you feel beautiful. She ruined my morning and charged me a $25 cancellation fee. I look forward to sharing this review on Yelp and your instagram. In the end, I drove to Royal Oak and got a wash, blowout and style by Holly @ Aqua Salon. She was amazing! Go to Aqua, they're open on Sundays!

I’ve been coming here for a couple of months now and usually have a good experience (reason for the 2 instead of 1). If I book in the mornings it’s Brenda and she’s really good. Afternoons it’s Danielle and she’s good too. I never have any issue when I see Brenda. She is amazing, punctual, and professional. She gets 5 stars. The rating today is based on lack of communication and preparation for my 2pm appointment with Danielle today which was booked in advance. I arrived today on time to a dark salon, giving the appearance that it was closed. I figured Danielle either did not receive my message confirming my keeping the appointment (my fear) or that she left briefly and would be coming back soon. After 5 mins of no one showing up etc, I called both numbers (salon to leave a message and her cell that she called from earlier) No answer on the cell, went straight to voicemail. Left a message with callback information. She called less than a minute later saying she had to leave to pick up more shampoo and would be back in 5 minutes. 5 mins later at 2:10 nothing, by 15 I headed back to my car (it’s cold and I believed 5 mins when she said it) waited in my car and by 2:20 I kindly let her know that I was leaving and it would have been professional to let me know earlier she was running late etc. Her response was that she was there and parking at 2:20. No apologies no call, nothing. I should not get charged a cancellation fee because I was there on time. If she had communicated properly and actually apologized for running late and I didn’t have other things to do today I would’ve stayed but I think I will visit the other location in the future or just find another salon all together.
