What an unexpected gem. I’m so glad we trusted our intuition and the other reviews. The most special part of travel is finding these quaint, magical places. We were welcomed like old friends and had the most peaceful experience and then got an amazing homemade breakfast the next morning. Baja69 is a special place literally hand built with love. We will be back!
We loved it here so much that we came back to stay a second time on the same trip--and then extended that stay.
It's everything I could ask for in an accommodation: welcoming hosts, excellent location, clean and well-appointed rooms (with the best showers we found in a month in Baja), beautiful view, delicious breakfast. I loved that it's walking distance to a nice quiet stretch of beach, far enough from the point to be very peaceful but still only a couple of minutes to the surf break.
On a more personal level, Juve and Alma were so sweet and considerate and really were the most gracious hosts. Juve cooks a wonderful breakfast and when I showed an interest in its preparation he took the time to show me the process. They put out water for the birds every morning, they welcomed our pets--they're just really good, kind people. We had many wonderful conversations with them and we left feeling like we'd made new friends, whom we're very excited to visit again on our next trip to Cerritos.
Juve, the owner of Baja69, is one of a kind. He's genuine and kind, the kind of person you remember for years. Baja69 is located 15 mins away from the surf point of Cerritos, which is great, because you're away from the relative bustle of the town, yet close. The beach free from surfers is a 4 min walk from the hotel. I loved every second of staying at Baja69 and talking to Juve. The breakfast was amazing too.
I have stayed in many wonderful places in Baja Sur over the years but Baja69 is my favorite. The rooms are large and comfortable, the showers are hot with great pressure, and the views of the ocean and surrounding area from the balconies are magnificent. Best of all are Juve and Alma, the lovely couple that operate Baja69. They are so warm and hospitable and really make you feel at home. Every morning they will cook you breakfast and it's always on point. Juve's beans (Mama's recipe) are the best I've had. (Maybe he'll share the secret if you ask.) I plan to stay here anytime I visit the Cerritos/Pescadero area.
*As of this writing, Google Maps has a weird way of getting to the property if coming from the south. Rather than taking a right off the highway and going under the bridge, I think it's much easier to drive a little further north on the highway and make a u-turn, then make a right onto the dirt road next to the "Baja Shipping" building. Look for the large Mexican flag!
