This is a good place to see the actual pipeline without driving too far from Fairbanks. I was on a cross-country trip and figured this would be a good place to see while I’m in Alaska. Lots of information about the pipeline and the work involved in building it available to read here. There are tour buses that come here and that was the case for me when I visited. I waited a little bit and they left and then I was able to take some pictures without people in them
The pipeline was really cool to see. Knowing the history and heritage about the pipeline, it was really cool to see the pipe and be able to go right next to the pipe. There was also a lot of information about how the pipe was made.
On top of that, there were a few exhibitions relating to the pipe that were pretty cool to see
Really neat place to see and learn about the pipeline. Fun to see just how big it really is. Information panels are interesting. Easy to get to, near downtown, pretty quiet.
▪️ incorrect google directions. Turn right into the parking lot when coming from fairbanks. Google maps take you to an area with no parking and closed entrance.
▪️lots to learn about mechanical engineering
▪️15mins to enough read and understand everything
One of the viewpoint for your visit to Fairbanks as it showcase the engineering marvel. Though the stop doesn’t have much to offer except the view of the pipeline.
