Visited 9/18/23 on our first cruise! Dredge Town! What an awesome gold rush town experience!! Max Glacier was our guide and he was excellent! We had such a wonderful experience the entire time there! We were thoroughly entertained the whole time! Nugget was awesome and super hilarious too! We found gold too! We absolutely loved the history lessons as well! I plan to return to Skagway next year because of this experience! Props to ALL the staff working there as well! Thank you for such a memorable experience!
They do a great job of making this excursion entertaining. The fun friendly staff are dressed up like the 1800's, they have some cool stuff to check out and the gold panning is fun to learn. The sled dogs are so cute and it was fun holding and loving the puppies.
Wonderfully fabulous place!!! We did gold panning, and every person there was in colorful character! But it didn't feel forced; they seemed to genuinely enjoy helping people find REAL gold (flakes)! You get to keep your gold, and my daughter and I had them put our "claim" into a see-through locket for the perfect keepsake.
We then got to see real Iditarod racers Peter and Theresa who explained what they do, how they do it, and answer (patiently) all questions. We got to see the dogs do a dry run (yes, it's summer) and then, best of all, hold the puppies!
We finished with a ride on the White Pass Railroad, narrated by our awesome guide Max Glacier. It made the experience so much better b/c not everyone on the train got the stories that we did.
I TOTALLY recommend Alaska 360. From start to finish, one of our BEST experiences in Alaska.
Overall it experience was amazing! The train ride was perfect even though it was slightly scary when looking down at times. Slinky was a great host and has a lot of knowledge! He was also funny! Gold panning was slightly disappointing but it was honestly a great time! We did a train ride up white pass, good panning and last was meeting Dog sled dogs and their owners.
Pretty nice experience. One hour of dog sledding talk plus puppies handling, one hour of dredge tour, one hour of gold panning plus assaying, 45 minutes of lunch and about half hour of story telling over a campfire and smores.
Probably the lunch can be skipped so the cruisers can be left wandering in the town instead of having no time to spare. It was a little underwhelming compared to food on the cruise ships.
And don't forget to see the surrounding sights, the mountains and the rapids.
But overall still a good experience with Klondike DeLude as a tour guide.
