I’m extremely sadden by the turn Flying Possum has taken. The original owners were so knowledgeable and generous with their time and customer service. I recently purchased a pair of vintage chaps which needed some love, and conditioning and trusted FP to restore them.
Fast forward, FIVE months later my husband and I thought we’d pop by to check on the progress of my chaps.
After we reminded them about my chaps the two men responded “oh I totally forgot about those!”
NOT what any customer wants to hear.
Secondly after our shock settled that they weren’t ready after FIVE MONTHS, the gentleman’s response was “well I’ve been conditioning them every chance I got”....which is confusing because he confessed to me seconds before that he had forgotten about them.
Their defensiveness about blaming the product is understandable to a certain degree because I understand they were dry....but five months later with no communication and to be rude and curt about the entire situation is uncalled for.
The gentleman told us he’d call us in a week without a promise they would be finished and said “he’ll start on them right away.”
I’m glad he miraculously gained a sense of urgency when we saw him ten minutes later outside for a cigarette break. That was when I decided to go get my chaps and find someone else to work on them.
The whole situation was so bizarre and very unfortunate.

School of Rock

My son has taken drum lessons for most of his life, and plays in all of the school ensembles. The autonomy to choose and rehearse their own music makes SOR the shining star in my son's musical circle. Thank you!

School of Rock Boulder is wonderful - staff, instructors are so welcoming and of inspired both of all 3 of my kids did not only learn their instrument but also develop a love of music and new genres. Thank you SOR!

School of Rock is a really incredible place, full of wonderful staff and students.  We decided to try it out for our son because he was feeling very isolated during the pandemic.  The staff at School of Rock have amazing abilities when it comes to the performances they are able to elicit from the kids.  I imagine that trying to coordinate a group of 10-17 year olds into a cohesive band must be akin to herding cats, but School of Rock clearly has some good tricks up their sleeve.

School of Rock has been the one positive, steady thing that has kept our son afloat during the pandemic.  His experience there has greatly improved his self-confidence and we've seen a huge advancement of his abilities in less than a year.

School of Rock is a wonderful community of musicians that really know how to support and encourage kids. They meet kids on their level and work with what they've got.

I'm an adult who has done 6 seasons of the private lesson/performance band combination.  Each of these have been GREAT, from the quality of the instructors, my improvement as an individual drummer and the different benefits of playing live with other musicians under the guidance of multi-instrumental and experienced band directors. In this part of the "package", I've worked on many songs at the same time vs. 1 or 2 when I've had private lessons only, outside of SoR.

In addition, the skills one picks up playing in a group significantly boost ones' overall  level of musicianship. Finally, I've made new friends and a few close ones, each of the three seasons..this is the social benefit.  Spending some time each week with other people who like to play instruments and are willing to work on songs of the same genre is huge.

Finally, the opportunity to perform together, live, is another huge benefit to playing with the SoR vs with a private instructor. Each of the seasons that I've participated, we've done 2 end of season shows to perform the 12 or so songs we've worked up over the course of that show season.  This is exciting and another type of growth experience as it may test nerves or push one to a new level of ability and confidence, depending on the person and readiness of the band as a whole.

WORTH EVERY PENNY. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Incredibly friendly, welcoming staff and teachers who helped my 2nd and 3rd grader figure out which classes to select.  My kids are loving music right now, and asking to learn to play an additional instrument.  They are excited about School of Rock camps this summer, and it's cool to see my son walk up to the piano on his own and start playing a song.  Well done School of Rock!

Fleet Feet Boulder (Boulder Running Company)

Roxane was amazing! So grateful for her wealth of knowledge when it comes to running shoes. She helped me pick a great pair of shoes and inserts. I am really confident this was the best decision I’ve made in a long time concerning footwear. She helped with sizing and color options. Awesome addition to my wardrobe!!

I had a fantastic experience yesterday at Fleet Feet! The person who helped me was so knowledgeable & friendly & not at all pushy about sales. I love the foot scanner! Best shoe shopping experience I’ve ever had! I am a bit older & was looking for walking shoes & wondered if I would have a good experience or not because I am not a young athletic runner. Had a great experience & love my new shoes!!

I walked into Fleet Feet and was immediately greeted by a friendly salesperson. I described what I was looking for and he listened carefully and offered advice. He brought out an updated version of my current shoe, plus demo arch supports, and it was the very best fit ever in my 50 years of walking and running!

Got great help getting a new trail shoe, changing from my old brand. Salesperson identified best options, answered my questions, used their technology to learn more about my foot, and then supported the way I was leaning in my decision. Shoes feel fantastic!

This is the worst REI location I have been to. There is always a long line at check out, to the point I have put back items because it was not worth waiting in line. But my biggest compliant is the returns department. I tried to return an item that was supposed to be waterproof. A month into ownership it was starting to wear more quickly than expected but I figured it wasn't bad enough to return. 7 months after purchase I finally decided to return them as it was no longer waterproof and useless to me. REI declined the return saying it was too worn out. I rarely used this item and wanted to return it because it was wearing out much faster than expected and not worth the $200 I paid. Not accepting a return after 7 months devalues everything in the store. I wouldn't have paid $200 if I knew I could return it if it broke within the year return policy. If anything this is a manufacture defect since it is no longer waterproof and should be able to be returned at anytime. I am strongly reconsidering all REI purchases after this encounter.

REI - if you read this please explain why a leaking waterproof item 7 months after new is non-returnable for REI members. Thank you.

No idea who is running this company but every year the shopping is experience gets worse, and every year I spend less money. Not long ago you could walk into any store, find multiple options, and friendly helpful passionate people available to make you feel good about spending money.  Not any more.  Far less brand options, but worse is less made in USA stocked than ever before.  Products you expect to be in stock frequently out of stock.  Saddest of all is how stores no longer have the employees to help you.  I was happy to pay more for the in-store shopping experience with experts who have used the gear and experts who have passion.  The employees no longer care.  I just expressed my concerns respectfully in the store and the clerk told me to tell someone else who cares.  REI you are sad and pathetic now.

Went to the sleeping bag section and asked to try some out and the employee helping me could not have sounded more annoyed to have to do his job & pull them down (as if he was doing anything else besides sitting on his phone). I asked what the lightest of the 0 degree bags were and he said “haha a lightweight 0 degree bag doesn’t exist”….ok, not what I asked. Then he said “do you REALLY need a 0 degree? Most people just think they’ll get really cold so they go for the 0 degree bag and regret it”. So I explained how I’m going to be climbing Mount rainier in May (this was back in March) and need something to keep me warm in unpredictable weather. This idiot tried to sell me a 30 degree summer bag. I’m really glad I didn’t listen to him and settled on a 15 degree bag. Base camp at 10,000 feet was sitting right at 10 degrees at night and I was just warm enough, the summit was 8 during the day. Just goes to show that REI will hire any arrogant idiot in Boulder who claims they know about outdoor gear. Do not listen to these people or ask them questions, they don’t know anything and will get super upset if they have to do their job & help people.

PS anybody wanting to get ski/bike work done come to rebel sports in frisco we will never make you wait in long lines or over charge you & we do an excellent job every time and will fix it no cost if not.

Shoe department service was really abysmal.  I explained in detail what I wanted, and store personnel  had absolutely no information about the differences between shoe brands or models.  It was like I was dealing with an employee who started yesterday with no training.  Shoes are a specialty and I would think that a supposedly premium dealer, like REI, would have more knowledgeable people on staff.

I've enjoyed shopping in the Boulder REI store many a time over the years.  I always seem to find what I need, or stuff that I don't really need, but want to buy regardless.  I haven't needed expert help, so I can't really speak to that aspect of the shopping experience.  I would say that I was a bit surprised that the bike section didn't have a larger selection of bike relate stuff.  This is Boulder, Colorado after all, one the the cycling Meccas of the U.S.  I also was a bit surprised that the climbing department didn't have a bit more equipment selection on hand.....as rock climbing is the other thing that Boulder is known for.

McGuckin Hardware

Had the 4oz isobutane fuel canisters that REI did not. A really cool place with quality items, a little bit of anything you could need and nice folks too! Definitely not your average hardware store!

Been coming here for decades, hands down the best hardware store with the best service. Today, like always, someone asked me how they could help within minutes of stepping into the store. The good folks here also know what they’re talking about unlike the big box discount stores. Please keep the tradition going!

7/4/22- I'm not sure if you should call this place a hardware store or not. They spend more room on socks then they do for kitchen or bath features but together. This is more like a store of the random. If you are looking for something specific they may not have it but you may just see something you want in the toy section. They even have a school supply/office section. They also have a pet section that is bigger then most grocery stores have.

This is the most amazing store for service and range of products.
Here is the list of items I went in to purchase:- Mortar and Pestle, Distilled water, Gas for barbeque, Food Scale - guess what ? They had everything on my list!!
I friggin love this place!!

Pretty disgusting that the staff here continue to sell a product expired by months…this was purchased 10/24/23 product expired 4/15/23.

*they responded on 10/25/23 claiming they check inventory every 2 weeks but there is no way they actually do considering my friend purchased the same product months ago that was also expired, a company full of liars and I will never spend my money at this store ever again. You’ve just made a lifelong Home Depot customer out of me.

Pedestrian Shops

Horrible service! Wish I could give 0 stars.  All 3 sales people were at the cashier talking and when  I asked for help I was told, “what size do you need?”
Save your time, go somewhere we’re they actually care and want your business.

Where did the simple question “how can I help you” go? I needed help finding shoes to support plantar fasciitis pain.

To make things worse, each sales person went different ways to assist other people on the floor. Sure, I may have misunderstood who was going to help me, but after obviously looking confused and standing around next to each of them for a while I can’t believe that none of them followed up with me to see if I had gotten the help I needed.
I asked one of them, “I’m sorry, where you going to help me?” And they said no, the other sales person was.
As I was making my way out the door, I over heard the one ask the other, we’re you helping her? I the other said, “no”.

I love this place! They have the best selection of shoes and the staff is always friendly! Its definitely my favorite local shop.

I had a wonderful experience at Pedestrian Shop on Pearl St. This was all due to Fernanda who first assisted me over the phone and then again in store. Her customer service was fantastic, as was the in store selection of Birkenstock styles and sizes. I will definitely shop here again and ask for Fernanda.

First time buying barefoot shoes and Cole was very helpful, friendly and informative throughout my purchase. I appreciated the sizing help and him taking the time to answer all my questions. Perfect example of what customer service should be. The two other gentleman who were around and offered my help get 5 stars too! Thanks y’all!

Awesome shoe store! Stumbled upon during my vacation. Great, diverse, quality selection… fantastic salespeople, Emily and Alex… even an adorable, sweetheart of a dog to help make my selection. Suggested I ship my purchase home to save a few bucks and avoid the hassle of stuffing my shoes into my luggage… genius. Will definitely be returning when I come back to this beautiful state! 🥰

I had a great customer service experience here. I bought a pair of super cute boots here, but the first time wearing them they broke. I was nervous I would be out of luck since they were final sale but they replaced them for free!! They were so apologetic and super sweet and were very quick to respond and help me.

Im from PA and I’ve never heard of this store before but they had a pair of shoes available online that I couldn’t find anywhere else and I wanted them to wear as my wedding shoes. I ordered them and they were a bit too small. I called and asked for an exchange. I had a bigger size back at my house before I even realized my return has been delivered to them. Can’t recommend this store enough.

Had a great experience buying some new winter boots. I wanted boots that were cute and functional - nice enough to wear to work on snowy days. I was very pleased with the options, styles and price points. I loved the service I received from the two women working in the shop - in a world where service has disappeared from many experiences, this store still takes the time to provide it. I will intentionally return and shop for my next shoes here and shop local vs buying online because of the nice experience.

Excellent brands and merchandise, helpful sales staff. Alex especially helpful in making decisions.

Branson West Hardware

Great place to do business.  If they don't have it, you don't need it!  Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff.  My go to place for all the projects around the house.

Tend to shop here quite frequently for work. They have a vast array of products from plumbing supplies, tools of all sorts, lawn and garden products and a full service paint center. Highly recommended for your home needs. And as a bonus ask for help because they know how to help you find what they need.

This is my go to hardware store. I’m constantly surprised at how complete their inventory is and how quickly I can get what I need and out the door.

Always well staffed with folks that are both helpful and friendly. Polar opposite of the big box stores plus I’m happy to support a smaller franchise business in the process.

Moore Lumber Ace Hardware & Paint

I needed to work on my chicken coop, which included installing a shelf, a roost bar, mounting a heat panel, and insulating the building. I went into this Ace with a vague idea of what I needed and a very rough sketch.

I was immediately greeted at the door by the employees and asked if I needed help. I explained my project to them and Dave K jumped on board to help me. He took the time to walk me through the store to make sure I had everything I needed for this project. He made very educated recommendations as to what I might need without being overbearing. I really appreciated his assistance with this project. Because of Dave’s help it turned out way better than I could have done on my own. My chickens are grateful.

I have been in this Ace several times since moving into the neighborhood and I have had a great experience every time. The employees are consistently knowledgeable  friendly and helpful.

Poorly implemented point of service systems mixed with poor management lead to inability to make a purchase. The employees were great and helped me find the electrical components I needed quickly.
The problem was checkout. The system flagged one of the items as not being in inventory and locked up the system until a manager reviewed and entered their credentials. Problem is that there was only one manager on duty and they were sequestered in the office on the phone and would not respond. After 5-10 minutes of waiting, during which the cashier tried multiple times to get the manager to override, I had to walk out with nothing. This was incredibly disappointing for a place I have been frequenting for two decades, and I felt bad for the cashier who must have been very embarrassed.
Technology is great - I love it, but poorly or partially implemented technology can make life a living hell, especially when mixed with management that doesn’t seem to value customers. I did try to give them the benefit of the doubt, but at some point you ask the person on the phone to hold and you take care of the immediate, in-person issue. Better yet, you have a delegate who has been trained and authorized so that you don’t become the bottleneck. I thought that maybe it was a critical call, but after I heard something to the effect of, “hey princess” drift down from their office I began to strongly doubt the criticality.
Unfortunately, now I don’t have the supplies I need. Thankfully though I don’t have to go too much farther to find another place that has what I need. This experience has inconvenienced me today, but the most unfortunate part is that I will now think twice about going here and may choose a location that has been more reliable, even if it’s a little farther.

Horrible customer service!! Sold me pellets 3 months ago. Still don’t have them on December 1st and ZERO ETA!! They lied and blamed the manufacturer but I called the manufacturer and they have been sending trucks. This whole pellet delivery is a total joke. They’re the only game in town for quality pellets and they just don’t care!!! So frustrating I’ll drive down to Denver before giving these clowns any more money!!!

I like this Ace store a lot more since the renovation. While they cannot compete with larger stores in terms of sheer variety, they definitely have a great selection of key essentials. The staff at this particular branch is also very helpful and friendly. My only wish would be that they stayed open until 7pm.

I really like this store, and I prefer shopping locally over going to the Big Box. In particular, I recently had an issue with a large expensive item, and they bent over backwards to rectify the situation. After reading other comments, I disregard most of the negative critiques. Lots of whining over trivial matters. Yes, their parking lot is a bit tight, and maybe their prices are a tad higher on some things, but they are always my first stop, and they usually have what I need. SHOP LOCALLY!

Flooring America - Mason City

Absolutely the easiest and most enjoyable experience I’ve ever had with a home improvement project! Mike is very good at what he does and knew just how to guide me through the process of choosing my new carpet. I would recommend Mike Duitscher and Flooring America 100% over any other flooring business! Thank you so much!

A couple of friends used Flooring America to get both carpet and laminate throughout their entire house and it looked so good we decided to pull the trigger on redoing our kitchen flooring.
We decided on a sheet vinyl (very 90’s I know but it’s what best fit our home situation) and it turned out killer! Just amazingly different! A completely new feel! Very well done and was installed quickly. Here are a couple before and after pics.

We were doing a complete home remodel/addition and I needed to get flooring lined up, so I stopped in to Flooring America in November to see what they had.  I was very impressed by the brands they carried, the number of samples and the affordable price ranges!  Mindi Martinson was wonderful!  She was very professional, knowledgeable and so helpful.  I was very specific on the color I had in mind and price range.  Mindi helped me find some great samples to take home and try.  I ended up going with the Karastan Refined Forest Collection in Fawn.  We love it.  It is excellent quality at an affordable price.  It has beautiful, real-looking grain, a matte finish which is fabulous and does not show dirt and feels good to walk on with bare feet!  I cannot say enough about this flooring.  Our installer, Brian Sliger was great.  He was very professional and so easy to be around.  He kept me informed of any concerns that he had.  Our house is older and with a new addition, there were some challenges with uneven spots.  Brian took his time and worked very hard at making the floor perfect.  And that’s how it looks!  We have gotten so many compliments already.  Mindi and Brian made this part of our remodel go so smoothly and I cannot thank them enough!  We highly recommend going to Flooring America in Mason City!

We stopped in the store back in December so that we could pick out flooring for two whole levels of our home. We were looking at luxury vinyl for our main level kitchen, bathrooms, laundry, and living area. In the 2 bedrooms, stairs, and the 2 bedrooms upstairs we chose carpet. Dan helped us choose what would work the best and came to measure for us. James came and did a fantastic job for us in March. He takes pride in his work and that meant a lot to us. Overall a great experience!

Very happy with my experience at Flooring America and our rep Daniel Miller was so easy to work with and ensured this was all a great experience. We were the first to use this color of flooring and it worked out great! Very happy!
