Homer Alaska Post Office is very busy. Few workers, most of the time only 1 or 2 clerks. There is always a line into the lobby, approximately 10 or more waiting, all day every day. Photo ID now required to pick up packages. What women carry their purse into get the mail? None. You can have a package slip put in your box but if it's in your spouse's name they will not let you pick it up. Because the clerks hand out wrong packages to customers all the time. I wish I could have my mail delivered to my home. No mail boxes on our street. I have been a box holder for over 20 years at this facility.... it just keeps getting worse. The clerks are pleasant, it's not their fault that management (Postmaster) shouldn't hold his position. Please send help! Driving 14 miles up the road to the next Post Office might save you time.
Attempting to move to Homer and obtain a deliverable address has been incredibly frustrating. Even though I’ve registered with them, shown my ID, purchased a PO Box, attempted to forward mail from my street address to my PO Box, spoken with them several times in person, they consistently return packages that arrive which include my street address but do not have my PO Box. I’ve lost hundreds of dollars in shipping fees.
Our mail has been mis-delivered multiple times, our packages just get left at the post office even though the carrier that has us on her route will deliver peoples package that live PAST the 1/2 mile mark, as we do. When we brought this up to the carrier we were told not to make a big deal of it, in a rather disrespectful fashion. As such we then went to the post office to talk to someone in charge and was then told that they can only "talk to a carrier" with no hint of any disciplinary actions being taken.
Drove a hour to the post office and forgot my keys at home they would not give me my mail even with multiple state Id cards
...she pointed to the wall sign that said no mail over counter how ever postal regulations specifically tell them to do that when one has forgot his/her key
