This is really unique! Nice informative museum in the original Cotton Exchange. The building is incredible. The museum gives a nice educational experience of the cotton history, farming and industry.
What a little gem! Very interesting collection of items, provided us with a lot of information about the area, the industry and the impact. Great little gift shop, I purchased some teas, magnet and a couple of other small items. I would have bought more but had no more room for items in my luggage. Staff was very friendly and helpful, thank you for helping us to have a good visit!
Cotton was king. This museum chronicles the history and development of the crop through the years and also gives some insight into grading and modern farming techniques. Housed in an historic building, it's worth a visit. Plan on 40 minutes.
Small museum, but interesting. You'll probably spend an hour to an hour and a half here, if you tend to read most descriptions. There are also videos, which are interesting but a bit dated. Seems like the "modern" videos are from the early 2000s, so I'd love to see an update with the latest innovations in the industry. I certainly learned a bit, but it needs some updating. The staff were incredibly nice and welcoming though!
Memphis is more than Graceland! The museum consists of two parts, the history of cotton business and how it brings prosperity in Memphis, and everything you may want to know about cotton, from how it is grown to its applications. It is interesting that a membership was required for cotton trade.
