Max Fitness Clemson

The gym itself has a lot of equipment and is very nice, but good luck trying to cancel a membership. Had to relocate for a job opportunity and not only did no one ever pick up the phone on the payment line, but they want $50 to cancel the membership plus the next month’s payment of $30 (which was payed monthly). That’s only if you’re lucky and had “good reason” which is military or relocation, other than that never sign a year contract because you will be paying $100 if you ever need to cancel. EDIT: as you can see in the reply the situation was remedied so stars were added back :)

Went to Max fitness for 3 years while I was at Clemson. Best equipment, great staff, all around a great gym. If you're a college student, you'll see a bunch of people from Max in classes, downtown, etc. Really a great culture there.

Work brought me to Clemson and I was SO THANKFUL I found this gym. They have a $10 day pass that I took advantage of while in town. If I lived here I would 100% join here. Gym has every piece of equipment I would dream of. Plenty of free weights, machines, unique pieces of equipment, literally a gym rats dream. Facility was clean and kept up very well. They also have a private room just for women to workout! I’ve never seen this, it was really cool! The staff were all so welcoming and kind. Especially Ben and Natalie, they were so welcoming and made me feel like I was home when I came in! A lot of times customer service at gyms in nonexistent, but they’re very polite here! I honestly love this gym, can’t recommend it enough!

Great gym but I was called and told it was time to renew and I said I did not want to renew and I got charged for multiple months after I said I didn’t want to renew. Thanks Ben for not making me deal with the third party and canceling my membership 4 months after i told someone else I didn't want to renew. When you leave, make sure you know for sure your membership is canceled.

Gym and staff are great and I want to recommend it for that reason, but it is a nightmare to cancel your membership (even if it is month to month). The third party company (Peak Payment Solutions) that handles the cancellation operate as a scam/criminal organization and repeatedly try to charge you / give you a work around with a 5-7 day response timeframe. Please stay away if you have other options.
