Lonseome Dove Exotic Drive Thru Safari

We had the best time here!! There is a driving safari, petting zoo, indoor pets at the office, even a mini train ride to enjoy! All the staff was friendly and fun, the animals were well cared for, gentle, and SUPER friendly (especially if you have treats😁). They are free to roam the park, and guests can drive about as quickly or leisurely as it pleases them. That was cool, cause we were having fun and had extra time with new furry friends. I especially got a kick out of the camels, ostriches, and elans- sweet and VERY friendly!

Unexpected gem in the country. Took the wife for a long weekend in the Jefferson / Caddo Lake area, and saw Lonesome Dove on a list of local attractions. We decided to check it out, and I'm glad we did. Interesting variety of animals in both the drive thru and petting zoo areas, and super nice, friendly folks that run the place. Definitely recommend.

This place is SO FUN! Idk how long it's here bc we've been to Jefferson several times for the corn maze n haunted train ride and never noticed it. We def woulda stopped if we saw the giant sign, but it has been awhile seen we passed that way. The animals all seem in very good care. Surprisingly so, considering the constant heat. There was no apparent sickness or excessive insects bothering them. Most had healthy hides, water n space. The only critter I did notice having some patchy fur seemed to be in quarantine. The kangaroo I think could def use more room. And the anteater thing... but the store cashier pointed out there was a pen being erected, as we could clearly see. The cashier was just awesome! Super friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. There was a tiny baby goat (kid, I know!) in a bitty pen behind the counter. The clerk further gestured at a pet carrier bag and opened it... and out crept a baby spider monkey! OMG she was SO freakin cute! We hada blast here.

We had a great time!! The owner is so knowledgeable and passionate about animals. The animals were well cared for. Some were a little rude in the drive thru (looking at you ostriches,) but overall such a great morning activity.

Great animals, friendly staff, just needed more animals in their petting part of the zoo. Just make sure you purchase enough feed to feed all the animals. ($4.00 a bag) Adults and children prices on the zoo website
