Hotel Palacio de la Peña Cantabria

Stayed the night and had dinner in connection with a wedding. Very nice rooms, awesome dinner, and an excellent breakfast. The staff is very friendly and professional. The owner doesn't speak so much English, but still manages to be social and helpful, and there are other staff members that speak English almost perfectly. A lot of the furniture are antiquities with interesting stories. The rooms are super nice, but a bit pricey. The gardens are really nice. As for the location, Ajo is hard to get to, and when you are there the hotel is a solid 20 minutes walk from the beach through farmland. Highly recommended if you can afford it and get one of the eight rooms they have.

This place has an amazing atmosphere. The decorations in the rooms, restaurant and the garden make this a unique experience. Our room had a small garden, and the bed was really comfortable. The staff was very friendly. They even drove us to the city centre so we could use an ATM. (We could of course pay with a credit card there, but needed cash for later on our trip.) There was a WiFi connection, but only in the living room. The walls were too thick for the signal to get through. I don't think that was a problem, because you don't really want to spend a lot of time looking at screens while here. The food in the restaurant was great. I just wish I had a larger stomach so I could eat more of it! This place is a bit expensive, but definitely worth it.

Slightly quirky, totally romantic stopover. Highly recommended (if you like that kind of thing). Run by a lady who seems to have this as her day job, when not being a main character as a SuperHero in a Marvel flick. Great food, rustic, hearty, tasty. The same lady, as Chef (of course).

WE FOUND THIS HOTEL BY PURE LUCK AFTER A CHANGE OF PLANS AND LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO STAY WHILE IN SANTANDER. THIS IS A SPECIAL PLACE. DRIVING THERE IS AN EXPERIENCE ON ITS OWN. PROBABLY NOT FOR EVERYONE, IT'S VERY QUIET AND BEAUTIFUL. THE OWNER, VERY PROUD OF HIS PROPERTY AND THE STAFF EXTREMELY NICE. THE RESTAURANT IS AN EXPERIENCE ON ITS OWN AND THE FOOD EXCELLENT. WILL BE BACK SOMEDAY, BEFORE IT IS FURTHER DISCOVERED.

My wife and I spent three unforgettable days. It was a fabulous experience: very friendly treatment, excellent cuisine. The impeccable place.
